Even Though My Cousin (31M) Invited Me (25M) To His House On 10 May 2025 As He Bought A GR86, This Small Gathering Likely Radically Altered My 25F Sister's Life

Characters: I (25M, 2001), my sister (25F, 2001), my cousin (31M, 1995)

In late April 2025, my cousin (31M) upgraded from a 2020 Toyota Camry to a Toyota GR86 and wanted to invite me for 3 May 2025, knowing that I love cars. On the afternoon of 3 May 2025, he told me to come during the evening so he can show me his new car. However, 30 minutes in (halfway between Boston and his house), the rain began. I was at a Tesla Supercharger charging my 2021 Tesla Model 3 Standard Range Plus. My cousin then told me that he had to cancel the appointment because of the rain, and so he rescheduled to 10 May 2025. In the morning of 10 May 2025, my cousin (31M) told me to drive over so I could work with him on modding his car and setting up LED lights. My cousin's mother (63F) and my cousin's father (75M, owner of the apartment) explicitly invited me and allow me to come in unannounced and without needing an invitation. However, when I arrived at my cousin's house at noon on 10 May 2025, he was then silent and wouldn't acknowledge my presence. My cousin was "busy" watching TikTok and laughing and giggling on his GR86 by himself but he claimed he was busy and remained silent throughout despite having more than enough time to talk for at least 5 minutes by that time as he was sitting his car alone and watching TikTok for at least an hour. It turned out he changed his mind the minute I arrived my sister (25F) came via the Commuter Rail instead to "work on modding his car and setting up LED lights", according to my cousin (unfortunately, my sister is not interested in cars nor does she even have a driver's licence or know how to drive, unlike me, of which I have had a license since 2019). What's funny, I graduated with an SB in Computer Science and Engineering (6-3) in 2022 (after 4 years in college) whilst my sister majored in biology, and graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2023 (after 4 years in college) with no experience in engineering.

My cousin later claimed he will be busy every weekend all the way into mid-June 2025 working on his car, but wanted to invite me on 15 June 2025. However, I was out of state on 15 June 2025. Therefore, the meeting got moved the week after on 22 June 2025, which was the first time he showed me a tour of his car, two months after he bought it. Since then, he is open about every topic except for 10 May or my sister. Therefore, I started leaving his house, and drove around his city, taking DoorDash orders (I don't do DoorDash often and only drive for DoorDash when I am out of town to pass time) from about 12h30 to 18h00, where I started eating dinner. At 19h00, I returned to my cousin's house as my cousin's mother (63F) invited me in. However, my cousin's mother wasn't aware that she blocked me on both iMessage/SMS and Messenger (it turned out sometime between 12h30 and 19h00, my cousin used his mother's phone and blocked my number and my account from contacting his mother). At the time, my cousin (31M) was still living with both of his parents in a 130 sq m triple decker apartment with him sleeping inside a 7 sq m bedroom, paying $500 a month in rent to his parents. During the whole 12h00-20h00 block, it is purported that my cousin's parents were in the bedroom and resting.

At 20h00, because I was shy with sensory quirks related to family and wanted my cousin's mother to get me to go in, when I (25M) came and peaked from the outside, I heard that my cousin (31M) and my sister (25F) were talking and flirting to each other in a soft and intimate/romantic tone. Even though my cousin's mother opened the door for me to come in and invited me in on 10 May 2025 when I was waiting outside, my cousin then barricaded the door and didn’t allow me to use the restroom, let alone enter and greet my sister, who was wearing her own t-shirt, pajama pants that she likely borrowed from either my cousin (31M) or my cousin's younger sister (27F) as she has never owned that pair. However, normally, when my sister goes to my cousin's house or any guest's house and stops for the day (I have seen her at my cousin's house several times before May 2025, spanning back to the early 2010s when we first immigrated to the US as students with us both receiving citizenship by 2019-20), she wears regular clothing like jeans, leggings, outdoors shirts, etc. When I was there on 10 May 2025 however, I did see her wear a normal t-shirt that she wears both outside and at home, but even though she wore socks and crocs (which is normal), I have seen her wear red checkers pajama pants, and I have never seen her wear it ever, but I have seen both my cousin (31M) and his sister wear it.

I really didn't know what was going on outside of the 20h00-20h05 window, but on phone calls after 10 May 2025, my cousin (31M) started cooling down and the call is normal unless I brought up that date, of which he would start to rage at me again. My cousin (31M) then told me that he didn't invite me as I have no "interest or patience" to work on cars, despite the fact he knew that I have been interested in cars since my early childhood (I started being obsessed and infatuated with cars since the age of 3 in 2004), with him telling me those phrases years before and immediately before 10 May 2025. However, after 10 May 2025, my cousin claimed I am less car savvy than my sister when my sister doesn't even know how to drive, let alone have interest in cars. It seemed so weird. He didn’t allow me to use the restroom, and even though his parents never blocked me on their phone, his parents accused my cousin of using their phone to block me from their phone number. My cousin (31M) as well as my sister (25F) and I (25M) have never had a partner, whether boyfriend or girlfriend and my cousin is heavily interested in getting a girlfriend soon and was has talked to me a lot about wanting to visit Thailand for sex tourism.

From my sister's early childhood all the way into 2025, my sister has been interested in dentistry and she aspired to go to DMD school so much that her alma mater claimed she will be a future dentist in an article they wrote about her in 2023. My sister even practiced for the DAT exams. Yet, sometime immediately after 10 May 2025 (likely the week or two after), she started pivoting towards clinical research nursing, unexpectedly breaking her long-time dream. Even then, she initially looked at MGH IHP for her clinical research nursing but sometime in June or July 2025, she looked at nursing schools out of state and moved out of New England, far from New England (fun fact, up until this point, the only metro area she has ever lived in the US was the Greater Boston area, and she had no intentions to move). Prior to June 2025, my sister has sought to firmly remain in MA but by June, she started thinking of leaving the state entirely.

Also, even though my sister's LinkedIn and Instagram remained normal and intact as of 2026 (but her Instagram activity was slowly winding down by June 2025), she did the salami slicing technique where she removed any selfies from her FaceBook account (FaceBook was where her family followed her) in June 2025, followed by change her profile image from a back facing one to a Pinterest image in October 2025, and then deleting the back facing image altogether in November 2025, and later deleting FaceBook and only keeping Messenger active in December 2025. My sister's social media has always been small ever since she was young, but she started to stop visiting any family gatherings in Massachusetts after May 2025 and started to distance from Massachusetts. Funnily, when my cousin upgraded from the S23 Ultra to the S25 Ultra in November 2025, he showed me his storage from his previous phone and it stated that videos take up 50GB of his storage and 40GB are "large files" (over 25MB). He doesn't record many videos, and typically, apps and even games don't end up in the "large files section" because many take less than 25MB (I use both Apple and Samsung as I upgrade my iPhone and Samsung devices yearly to the latest and greatest iPhone Pro Max and Galaxy S Ultra yearly so I know). He claims a lot of them are TikTok, but the longest TikTok videos he sent to me on Messenger are 5 minutes long (24MB), of which that is too small to be lumped into large files. My cousin doesn't travel, doesn't do YouTube, and doesn't record much. My cousin has a Dropbox account but claimed to hate the cloud.

Ever since the 10 May encounter, my relationship with my cousin has deteriorated day by day until now where even though he talks, he is hyper offensive towards me and racist towards me because I am of Northern Vietnamese/Chinese descent whilst he is of Southern Vietnamese descent and harbours deep Sinophobic views. When I asked him what happened on 10 May, he gets evasive and switches explanations here and there, from creating LED lights to creating fiber optics to arts and crafts for Christmas (he told me that in September 2025) and then to the fact he and my sister were in a non disclosure agreement as they were working together to “get” into YC (in September 2025 as well but prior to September 2025 and after September 2025, my cousin has stated that he knows and learnt very little programming, only up to beginners high school HTML).

TL;DR: Even though both my cousin (31M) and his mother (63F) invited me (25M) for 10 May 2025, my cousin bait and switched me when I arrived just because my sister (25F) was there, was very defensive about the date, made contradictory statements about what happened on that day after 10 May 2025, and it marked the downturn of my friendship with my cousin despite the fact my cousin's mother invited me in to hang out with my sister for the day. 10 May 2025 also marked a major turning point for my sister herself as it led to her pivoting to another path, moving out of state (months later in late 2025), deleting her FaceBook account, and having a massive change despite her living stably in MA for so long. I feel like this event happened today.

Even Though My Cousin (31M) Invited Me (25M) To His House On 10 May 2025 As He Bought A GR86, This Small Gathering Changed My Friendship With My Cousin And Likely Radically Altered My Sister's (25F) Life; I Feel Total Regret

TL;DR: Even though both my cousin (31M) and his mother (63F) invited me (25M) for 10 May 2025, my cousin bait and switched me when I arrived just because my sister (25F) was there, was very defensive about the date, made contradictory statements about what happened on that day after 10 May 2025, and it marked the downturn of my relationship with my cousin despite the fact my cousin's mother invited me in to hang out with my sister for the day. 10 May 2025 also marked a major turning point for my sister herself as it led to her pivoting to another path, moving out of state (months later in late 2025), deleting her FaceBook account, and having a massive change despite her living stably in MA for so long. I feel like this event happened today.

Even Though My Cousin Invited Me To His House On 10 May 2025 As He Bought A GR86, This Small Gathering Changed My Relationship With My Cousin And Likely Radically Altered My Sister's Life; I Feel Total Regret And So Stupid For Being Entitled Myself

Found A Junior SWE Role For Mercado Libre On LinkedIn (Easy Apply): Is This Specific Application A Scam?

I blurred the information for privacy reasons. This job position is a "mobile app SWE" for Mercado Libre (ostensibly) but LinkedIn has warned about scams on this job posting, something not encountered on other job postings. This is an easy apply role by the way. However, unlike other Easy Apply positions, it doesn't show up in the job tracker but is instead, according to LinkedIn:

"Some job postings may be hidden or flagged, causing job counts to differ".

On the Messages App shown in images 4-15, it also seemed like whenever I type, the "hiring manager" reply to me within 5 minutes or less.

Are there red flags with this application?

Is 903 Peachtree Worth It Or Should I Avoid?

I know I could pay more for a better apartment (like Juniper) but even though I am a SWE-adjacent and a future AI tech entrepreneur/founder, I (25M) have a frugal mindset and thought that 903 Peachtree would be worth it. Last month, I went through a 539 sqft 1bd apartment which would go for around $1689 in rent.

Given the fact my previous apartment in Cambridge MA (I lived there between 2017-25) was built in 1905, had no kitchen, a small private restroom, a PTAC AC which is apartment management throttled and therefore, exceptionally hot during the summer, was a 300 sqft studio (no roommates) with a sloped roof, had tons of mold, was poorly insulated, had floating vinyl flooring, had extremely narrow stairs, and had a shared laundry downstairs, and would have costed $1700 if I kept living in it all the way to 2026, the 903 Peachtree feels like a drastic upgrade. Off street parking costs $200 a month and I relied on street parking ($25 a year for a Cambridge permit), which involves street cleaning 1x a month, not being able to park my car long term, and narrow parking spaces.

My current apartment (which costs me $1900 a month with free off street parking but no on site EV charging) is around 15-20 km from Cambridge MA, in a Boston suburb. It was built in 2014, is 480 sqft big, is a 1 bedroom (with a separate living room/kitchen and bedroom), has a fully functional mini-split AC, a private restroom, could fit all of the goods I own (including dozens of phones, 3 6' tables containing 8 desktop computers, multiple laptops, multiple books, a queen bed, an electric keyboard, a TV, a gaming console), and still have ample walking space, but has a shared laundry (costs $2 per wash and $2 per dry) and doesn't have any amenities other than that. The neighbours are quiet, but the street is extremely noisy and trucks roll in at the McDonalds next door at 3-4 am.

903 Peachtree includes the price of the Cambridge apartment I rented for a few years, and plus, it includes everything my current apartment has, but has even more, including a skyline view of Atlanta, an in unit W/D, a walk-in shower, a fitness centre, a lounge, a pool, a business centre, and many more. I heard parking costs between 105-250 (not sure what tiers there are) but I am still not sure at the EV charging costs.

Question: Is it really worth it and would you want to answer questions about parking and of course, EV charging prices inside the apartment? I own an EV and have been owning one for at least 2 years. Tesla Supercharger rates meanwhile are quite dope especially at night between 23h00 and 9h00.

Anybody Here Do DoorDash/UberEats/Uber Rideshare In The Atlanta Area For Their Part-Time? If So, Is It Worth It?

I am just curious. In MA, even though I don't drive for DoorDash/UberEats/Uber Rideshare full time and just drive for 2-3 hours on the days I drive for these platforms due to wanting fresh air, I would make somewhere around 20-25 an hour after tips and before expenses and sometimes as high as 25-30 an hour (for DoorDash/UE single platform) if I aim the hours correctly and take advantage of peak-pay promos and quests. I am curious what about in the Atlanta region. I am in the starting stages for my AI company and I work in the SWE industry, so of course, I wouldn't care much about it.

UberEats Won't Initiate Background Check - Screen Stuck Here For Over A Week

In image 3, customer service will redirect me to the driver's app or the driver's site to consent to the background check. But I have not seen it anywhere. I am not doing this as my full time job, only as a part time fresh air income to justify going outside for fresh air.

TIFU Not Returning The Second Pair Of The Physical Key To The Hotel Guesthouse In Italy

On 22 June 2026, I (25M) arrived in Napoli after an 8 hour train ride from Pisa (using the Regionale trains) with two layovers in Rome (Roma Ostiense and Roma Termini). I booked a very decent and highly rated guesthouse on Booking.com. When I arrived, I was greeted with a lockbox, with my hotel key in it. I followed the instructions and retrieved my hotel key packet, which includes the keys for the portoni (front doors to enter the apartment complex), the keys to enter the guesthouse lobby (on the 5th floor (6th floor if you are American)), and the keys to enter the private hotel room with a private bath (there are two rooms in the guesthouse).

However, popular to Italian stereotypes, the portoni is notoriously tricky to enter and exit. I tried following the directions of the B&B owner, but my entry keys (regardless of me trying) don't properly work, so I effectively asked a resident leaving the property to kindly grant me entry, and they did. Luckily, opening the guesthouse lobby doors and private hotel room doors are rudimentary and I could unlock these doors in a heartbeat.

Adjacent to my B&B room, there is a second key hanging just outside in the hotel lobby that only grants you access to the portoni (front doors of the apartment complex) and guesthouse lobby, so it is less equipped than the first key which grants access to the portoni, the guesthouse lobby, and the hotel room.

On 23 June 2026, I was hanging out in Napoli, but because getting out of the apartment complex requires you to unlock using the key, I have to use the keys to get out. I had trouble with it despite following the directions as the portoni doors are notoriously stiff, so it took me 5 minutes of repeated twisting (multiple attempts) just to get out.

On 24 June 2026, because I knew the outer doors are notoriously hard to enter and exit, I brought down two keys (the first pair, which includes the portoni, the guesthouse lobby keys, and the hotel room keys, and the second pair, which only includes the former two). Given the time constraints as I had 30 minutes before the Flixbus from Napoli Centrale to Roma Anagnina leaves and walking from the guesthouse to the bus station commands a 15 minute walk, I left the first pair (which includes the entrance to the apartment via the portoni, the entrance to the guesthouse lobby, and the entrance to the hotel room) in the key box, but unfortunately, that was all the keybox could fit. Because of time constraints and me being unnecessarily stressed out (to make matters worse, I was kinda burnt out after a months long Europe trip, especially with the 35+ degree C temps), I accidentally took the second pair with me (which includes the portoni keys and guesthouse lobby keys) and realized it when I was already at the Flixbus heading for Roma Anagnina 10 minutes in.

I apologised to the B&B owner and luckily, they told me to send it to a Poste Italiane. Luckily, even though I didn't have a bubbled envelope, the closest Poste Italiane to my accommodations was not crowded and I was able to secure a spot almost immediately after entering. Luckily, the Poste Italiane facility is a 3 minute walk from the Felice Spesa, a store which sold exactly what I needed to send the mail. I bought the bubbled envelope, added the "Destinatario" address as the exact address of what the B&B guesthouse owner showed in Napoli and added the Mittente address with my name and my Roma B&B guesthouse accommodations address.

I sent the key as well as the envelope to the Poste Italiane employee on 24 June 2026 and paid a little less than 10 Euros to send it.

Yet, today is 20 July 2026, and it has been 3 weeks since I returned to the US (I returned home on 27 June 2026). A few hours ago, despite the fact I sent the second pair of the physical keys exactly to the address provided on the WhatsApp by the B&B guesthouse owner, they now claim it is "never delivered". I don't know what to say. I am paranoid they may fine me an exorbitant amount of money or press criminal charges against me, but they definitely know the keybox code for the hotel, know that my hotel room keybox is in the left (in fact, that was one of their earliest messages), and the keybox does contain the entryway to the portoni, the guesthouse lobby, and the hotel room, more than what the second pair (the pair I accidentally forgot to return but then mailed back to Napoli) included.

TL;DR: I accidentally forgot to return the second key pair (the keys to the front apartment door and the guesthouse lobby) and even though I mailed it to the exact address the B&B guesthouse owner provided, they claimed it never arrived. I did return the first pair to the keybox, which includes the keys to the front apartment door, the guesthouse lobby, and the hotel room. The second pair is the "backup" keys, and that was what I forgot to return.

Anybody Here Do DoorDash/UberEats For Their Part-Time?

Here Is The Truth Of Apple No One Wants To Tell You

Even though Apple has the infallibility myth, the truth is that it is far more negative than how it is portrayed online.

Here is a full story:

With Apple, debugging is near impossible (funnily, there are more problems on iOS than on Android or Windows on my end and I own dozens of devices) and even after troubleshooting and restarting, the problem still persists, and it includes my iPhones, MacBooks, AirTags (only affected one device and it was probably due to the fact I might have had two AirTags unknowingly, but the truth is, between April and May 2025, I only had one, which is paired, but still pings that setup notification), AirPods, iPad, etc. And plus, the Apple products in particular bug off and annoy me the most, and even a software update and reset would not fix the issue.

I accidentally destroyed two older iPhones out of rage. I bought my MacBook Pro i9 2019 as a new product in August 2019 and it failed in November 2021 due to a logic board failure despite light but daily and careful usage. Many of my low end Windows computers outcast 5 and sometimes 10 years. Out of all the phones in my 40+ phone collection (ranging from old Androids to flagship Androids to budget Androids to iPhones from old to new), only the iPhone 4 has died on its own and it died due to an iTunes issue. The Amazon Kindle Fire 1 (which was cheap to begin with) also failed because it bricked, but none of even my affordable Android devices failed or were bricked.

Most of my pre-2015 Apple products (except for the iPhone 4) have been flawless and are extremely reliable, kind of like many modern day Androids. Tim Cook has been good with cutting corners.

I have iOS and Android phones and I daily drive an iPhone 17 Pro Max and a Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra as of July 2026.

For a MacBook Pro i9 I bought in August 2019, the logic board was said to have fried in November 2021, prompting me to fix through Louis Rossmann and then transferring the files out to a new MacBook Pro 16 m1 in December 2021. I wasn’t doing any heavy tasks on the i9 MacBook Pro. Even though there are some dark spots on the bottom of the MacBook m1 screen and one of the USB C ports is broken, the MacBook still works after daily usage as of July 2026 even though the battery has degraded.

The 2nd shortest lasting computer is a very low end Windows machine of which it lasted a good 6 years before failing. I bought a HP Pavilion p6 in 2012 and it still works, albeit in a limited fashion as of 2023. When I moved from my old to new apartment in August 2025, two of the computers I built (one with an i5 11th gen + 1660 super + 16GB RAM + 1TB m.2 SSD, another with Ryzen 5 5600x + 1650 + 16GB RAM + 512GB m.2 SSD) failed, but they didn't fail before moving.

They only failed right after moving, but my quality control might have not been decent for the computers I built (I built both of them in early 2022 as a hobby and only use the i5 one daily and even though the i5 does boot into safe mode, it has the weird Windows circle not moving issue on Windows 11 and even though the monitor for the Ryzen computer works perfectly and the Ryzen computer powers on, the Ryzen computer won't display any signal to the monitor or keyboard/mouse). However, I was able to recover the i5 completely, by cleaning out the fans and replacing the GPU, which was the only part which failed, as well as the front fan upon moving. The latter PC failed completely whilst the former is still repairable where only the GPU failed and I replaced it with the 1650 from the 2nd computer, and it worked completely.

I have 40+ phones in my phone collection, with 20 iPhones and 20+ Androids. I accumulated them between 2017 and 2025. Only two died so far (without me smashing it), with one being a $5 Kindle Fire 1st generation (at least Kindles are disposables) I bought from Swapfest, which died from a software issue, and another being an iPhone 4. As for the iPhone 4, even though it worked flawlessly in 2022, I put it inside the closet, and come 2023, the iPhone redirected me to iTunes recovery mode. I tried going through iTunes on my Mac, DFUing it, buying new 30-pin connectors, and even using other computers and using the Apple Store, but Apple blamed it is a “hardware issue”. I never had issues like this on any of my Androids, even the oldest ones, and they almost never died on their own unless the battery swell, like on some older Samsungs. That said, the phone is totally bricked.

I bought an iPad Pro back in June 2016, and even though it worked, it was completely bricked in August 2017. I tried fixing it via iTunes and even brought it through Apple but they kept on insisting a $300 replacement for an iPad mini 4. Instead, I went home, waited several months, and miraculously, it worked once again in December 2017. It died several more times in this fashion, including in September-November 2018, August 2020-December 2022, and maybe since 2024. I effectively fixed my iPad better than what Apple would have done.

As for Personal Hotspot issues, there are many. Some of my iPhones won’t connect to other iPhone hotspots (this used to be a continuous issue until about 2023/4), with remote hotspot failure, and I had to restart both of the phones only for the hotspot to work again, and a week later, that same error appears. There is no fix until 2024.

Many of the lightning connectors wear out far faster than USB C and the Apple made USB-C also wears out faster than non-Apple made USB-C even with heavier use and longer use with the USB C. Many of my lightning cables with medium usage start to lose connection within 6 months and permanently lose connection unless I twist it or charged over and over again. USB C still works even after 4-5 years of usage with no signs of it failing. As for ports, the USB C ports on Samsung are generally lint free, even after using it for years, but several of my USB C ports on my m1 MacBook Pro (I bought in December 2021) has failed since 2023, whilst for the iPhones, both lightning and USB C iPhones have port lint issues after year 1 or year 2 and it required an appointment to the Apple Store to clean the lint.

As for the AirPods, there is just too many to say. I own both the AirPods 2 and AirPods Pro 2. Both of them have an issue where the left AirPods drain in battery even when inside a case, and for some days, there is 0 percent battery on the left and 100 on the right. I tried resetting and even cleaning the case and even forgetting the device, but it wouldn’t work. I even tried switching phones, but the AirPods still won’t work properly. Only after 5-10 resets does it mitigate the issue, charge both sides to 100, and then, I realized it is a software issue, because after a week or two of good use, the AirPods started developing the 0 left and 100 right issue once again, and this issue persisted throughout my whole ownership. I bought both of them new and they both showed the exact same issue after 2-3 weeks of usage. Suffice it to say, my Galaxy Buds never shown this issue. I had to calibrate it in a certain way (only found it out in 2026 on my own as no forums even help) and open the case just to charge both sides

Apple reddit forums seem to be a pro-Apple echo chamber and I never receive any helpful responses as they are adamant that Apple is superior to Android. For Android, I have very few issues, and for the few issues, I could easily remedy it by either restarting or putting on airplane mode, and it resets completely to normal. Funnily, many Apple users on Reddit even defend the lightning cable as being more durable than USB C despite evidence to the contrary as my experience stated that lightning connectors are less reliable than USB C.

Due to this, even though I agree Apple does have a decent track record with OTA updates (Android is catching up in this parameter, but you could download LineageOS ROMS) and decent integration (within the Apple ecosystem), I believe that for the same price, you could get an Android phone with more features, better reliability, and less panic. It also seems like even though Apple iPhones formerly held value significantly better than Android, the resale gap started to narrow starting in 2022-3 or something. I have seen that some of the problems and bugs are Apple-exclusive. Whenever I am near a university, eduroam prompts always pop up on my iPhone, making me infuriated, whilst with Android, it never pops up.

Funnily enough, my PCs never die or show any issues before 5 years. Only very minor software issues where I could reset. I never really had to "fix" any PCs even with heavy usage or something.

There are many things that Samsung Galaxy phones and other Android phones do better than iPhones, including the fact that on Android:

notifications are not cluttered in the lock-screen unlike on iOS

Android is more customisable than iOS and Android is an open-source mobile operating system

Many new features such as reverse wireless charging, in screen fingerprints, foldable phones, 5G, triple camera setup, phablet size phones,

there is a real back button on Android

No need to use iTunes; you could just transfer music and photos/videos between your computer and phone without the hassle of iTunes

Some Samsung Galaxy phones (S1-S20 excluding the S6/Note5) have microSD and older Samsung Galaxy phones have removable batteries

Some Samsung Galaxy phones in certain markets have dual sim support, but since e-SIM was introduced, first with the Pixel 2, and later with the iPhone XS, dual sim is less of an advantage

There are a lot of options, including the M/J series for budget conscious buyers, the A series for the average folk in many countries, the S/Note series for power-users, business users for extra productivity (mostly the Note series) and phone enthusiasts (like me), and the Z series for certain business users for extra productivity and for Flexers

On my Samsung Galaxy devices, I could share the Wi-Fi password to other phones using the QR code; on iPhones, I could only share the Wi-Fi connection with other iPhones

Samsung Galaxy devices support split screen view and pop up view, but these two features are restricted to the iPad, and iPhones only support picture in picture video

However, there are many lesser-known things that my Samsung Galaxy phones do better than my iPhones (based on my experience over the past 11 years), and some might be controversial:

Here are some more information about some of the iPhones I have owned over the years, including some collectible phones:

iPhone batteries start to massively degrade after about a year. After 2 years, the 15 Pro Max would overheat constantly even with medium tasks. 15 Pro Max has 4441 mAh battery, and the 15 Pro Max specifically has a battery capacity of 83% after 2 years of medium to heavy usage (on some days); on a typical day, if I wake up at 7:45, then I would expect to have somewhere around 20% at 14:45 and effectively 0% at 15:30 these days and have to recharge if I use it moderately, like say listen to music and browse the internet and look on social media but with heavy usage (like gaming, heavy photography, video recording, etc), I reckon the battery would die faster, like at around 13:00 with the new iOS firmware, but with light music playing or phone calling, then the iPhone could stay at 65% somewhere around 17:00 (9h15min) and by midnight, the battery would drain to somewhere around 35%, which is quite healthy if you are using it mainly as an MP3 player using Apple Music, but phone does overheat quite a lot with the new iOS firmware. I was testing it out in late 2025, even though I own a 17 Pro Max + S26 Ultra (as of July 2026).

Even though my first iPhone 7 Plus was bought on 16 September 2016 as my personal device, I traded that in in 2017 when the iPhone X was released and in 2021, I was given a Rose Gold iPhone 7 Plus from a relative/friend. Even though this relative/friend took good care of the iPhone 7 Plus, the iPhone started breaking down on several fronts even before I took control: the silent switch, charging port pins, and even battery started to die hard as early as 2021, when I took control.

Even though the iPhone batteries are mostly very good during the first year of usage and have extremely good standby compared to Android phones due to software optimisation, by around July 2016, my iPhone 6S's battery is starting to fail, and I did need to rely on battery packs for my iPhones to survive as the iPhone 6S's battery would go from 100-0 after 4-6 hours of heavy use. My cousins did replace the iPhone 6S battery in October of 2017, but by October 2020 (please note according to battery health, IIRC, the 6S stands at 85%), on iOS 14, the iPhone 6S would drain from 90 to 35 in as little as 10 minutes and sometimes, during cold weather, the iPhone 6S's battery (on iOS 14) would die at 30%. Turns out this is not only an issue on my 6S as I bought a 6S on eBay in 2021 for my smartphone collection and that phone (with 80% capacity) also behaved the same, draining from 80 to 25 in around 10 minutes. The iPhones before the 6S also had a poor battery life after a year in my experience, and even though the iPhone 7 Plus, X, XS Max, and 11 Pro Max's battery holds better than the 6S due to the batteries being bigger, the batteries still started to become bad after 1-2 years.

My iPhone 12 Pro Max (I got rid of it in December of 2021 after it accidentally fell out from my nightstand drawer and the back cracked a month before) started seeing its battery fail sometime in September 2021, when the 13 Pro Max came out. Say I leave the house at 10:00 and were to return home at 19:00. By 17:00, with medium usage with music playing in the background + hotspot, the iPhone's battery would have depleted to around 20 percent. Plus, my iPhones typically consume more battery if devices are connected to hotspot than my Samsung Galaxies are.

Even though all the 4 Samsung Galaxy S phones I have repossessed were slightly slow compared to when they were first purchased, all of them are still highly reliable, and according to my usage as well as from the 4 people who have used my phones, they have commented that the phones I gave to them gave them minimal issues and they JUST WORK. Fun fact: during my ownership, I have never experienced any major problems with any of my Samsung phones.

Fun fact, my cousin (31M) switched from the iPhone 7 Plus to the Samsung Galaxy S10+ in March of 2019 and is now currently using a Galaxy S23 Ultra but upgraded to the S25 Ultra impulsively on Black Friday 2025 even though it was 2-3 months away from the S26 Ultra. From his 4-year long experience using just the Galaxy S10+ (he bought the ceramic colour with 512GB of storage and currently his father is using the S10+), even though he is a power user with him customising the phone with themes, being a heavy user, and having cracked his S10+ last year, the phone was still extremely reliable, working fully as intended, apart from the battery, which has been shortened to 6 hours of heavy usage before dying.

My iPhones however, were not so bright. Even though pre-2015 iPhones are mostly reliable during my time using it, since the 6S, there have been some phones which have showed issues here and there, sometimes within the first year of ownership. As for the iPhone 6S, it is basically only the battery, which has been extremely bad after a year and the fact it would sometimes shut off at 30% during cold weather.

Starting with the iPhone XS Max and there started to be real struggles. Even though I didn't see any problems with either the iPhone XS Max and 11 Pro Max during my ownership and took good care of these two phones, when these two phones got passed to their second owners, problems started to arise. For the XS Max, in May of 2020, it got bricked, and it wouldn't turn on even if the second owner plugged it in the charging cable or through iTunes, and the second owner had to bring it to service, and that got him to purchase an S20+ given he prefers Android over iOS, and after fixing the XS Max, he gave it to his daughter, who is his only child. For the 11 Pro Max however (second owner's wife carried an 11 Pro Max between 2020-2) the phone's battery drained fast and always had to rely on the charger, and plus, there are issues of connecting Bluetooth devices as well as with calls and volume whilst connected to Bluetooth devices, and the second owner always complained about these issues and even though I did attempt to fix, the issues didn't get resolved (I am tech savvy by the way, so I could get through a lot of issues, such as reset my bricked iPad using iTunes, etc.).

And now onto my iPad Pro 9.7. I bought the iPad in June of 2016, and even though I used it mostly for watching YouTube videos, Udemy and edX courses, the iPad started having a bricking issue in November of 2017. What happened was that I was charging and overnight, the iPad just shut itself off and never powered on again. I tried connecting it to iTunes and even though iTunes could recognise the device, whenever I reset it, errors keep on popping up and it is impossible to reset. I tried bringing it to the Apple Store, but they couldn't reset it either and they suggested that I replace the iPad Pro 9.7 with an iPad Mini 4 for $300. Then, I started taking matters into my own hands and finally resetted the iPad Pro successfully after multiple attempts in January of 2018. Four months later (in May 2018), the iPad bricked again, and I had to do the same process, and it took until August of 2018 after at least 5-10 tries for it to work again. And then in August 2020, whilst charging overnight, the iPad turned off and I thought it was toast. Turned out it was, as after countless times diagnosing the issues on iTunes, the iPad would keep on bricking after multiple reset attempts and after more than 2 years. Then, there was a miracle. In November of 2022, I finally got my iPad working again and I felt like I was very lucky, because I thought that the iPad was bricked forever and wouldn't go back on, ever.

Then, it is my iPhone 12 Pro Max. I bought the phone on 20 November 2020, and by mid-September 2021, things started to go south for this phone. The top speaker started to fail and even though I cleaned it, the speaker was so muffled that I could barely hear anything from the top speaker. I brought it to the Apple Store and they said it is a digitiser issue and they couldn't even clean it for me, and around that same time, the touchscreen started to act up. With a lot of ghost touches, it started to become very hard to use the iPhone (and keep in mind, I have never replaced the screen since I never cracked the front screen). In October 2021, the phone started to have lose cellular signal when I enter the MBTA train and still didn't recognise cellular signal for minutes after I exited the MBTA and was at least a mile from that station on my bike, but luckily, resetting network settings did fix the issue with the cellular signal however. By the time the phone accidentally fell to the ground and the back did suffer some cracks in November, I started to give up on the iPhone 12 Pro Max and in December, I upgraded to the 13 Pro Max.

Even though my Galaxy Buds and my cousin's Galaxy Buds did not show any issues (my cousin bought the Galaxy Buds in March 2019 and after heavy usage, it still held up very well even in 2025), all 4 of my AirPods, even the AirPods Pro 2, have shown issues here and there. My first AirPods (January 2017-July 2018) suffered from an accident, and hence, I bought another pair of AirPods in July 2018 and used it until February 2022, when I dropped it in the toilet. Even though I was using the 2nd pair of AirPods half the time (July 2018-January 2020, December 2020-April 2021, November 2021-February 2022), by late 2021, the AirPods started showing major problems. First off, the battery drains so fast even indoors that it only lasted about an hour. Then, once I am outside, the right side would disconnect after only 5 minutes of usage and the left side would keep soldering on. Once it fell to the toilet, it was game over (however, I still kept the AirPods, it is just in the nightstand sitting there, and I did clean it as well). I bought the AirPods 2 in February 2022, and after 2 months, at least once every week or two, the right side would discharge, even in the case (the case is clean by the way), until it went out of battery. I tried resetting the case and putting the case to charge again, but to no avail, and it took several reset attempts for it to return to normal. The same exact scenario happened to the AirPods Pro 2, which I got in October as my cousin wanted to gift me the AirPods Pro 2, in exchange for my AirPods 2. Except that sometimes, my iPhone 14 Pro Max couldn't even connect to the AirPods Pro 2 or even recognise it.

Hotspot doesn't always work on my iPhones, but always does on my Galaxy even when connecting other phones to the Galaxy hotspot. Connecting to Bluetooth devices is better on my Samsung Galaxy phones than my iPhones. On my Samsung Galaxy phones, I can disable Wi-Fi using the Quick Settings (swipe down) menu, but for iPhones, it is less consistent as only Nearby Wi-Fi is disconnected for a day. Sometimes, I don't want my main iPhone 14 Pro Max to connect to the Samsung hotspot due to it having its own data. I would turn off Wi-Fi on the control centre and after 5-10 minutes, it would reconnect the Wi-Fi, therefore wasting hotspot data on my Samsung Mint-Mobile plan and making me mildly angry. iPhone does say turning off until tomorrow but in reality, Wi-Fi is turned on after 5-10 minutes. For Samsung, I turn off Wi-Fi on the quick settings until I turn it back on or I flick on airplane mode, which seems more intuitive in my case. However, when I am at home without any hotspot devices, whenever I use quick settings for iPhone, nearby Wi-Fi does disconnect until tomorrow

Pretend I have two Bluetooth devices (AirPods Pro, JBL Clip 4), and I wanted to connect to the JBL speaker. On the Samsung, if I accidentally clicked on the AirPods Pro, I could click JBL Clip 4 immediately and within 5 seconds, I would be connected to the JBL Clip 4 speaker. For the iPhone however, things are not so bright, as if I were to accidentally click the AirPods Pro, I had to wait 15 seconds for Apple to search for the AirPods Pro, and then once it says it couldn't find the AirPods Pro because I left my AirPods Pro at home, that is when I could click on JBL Clip 4 and connect it. That turns a 5 second process into something like a 15-20 second process.

Automatic updates are better on my Galaxies than my iPhones and on iPhones, even if you connected the phone to the internet and allowed automatic updates, it still doesn't install, making me have to manually install software, even overnight.

My Samsung automatic updates are set overnight, and even with airplane mode turned on during the night, my Samsungs are always up to date without ever having to go to the settings app to update the firmware to Android 13. As for iPhone, they did schedule automatic updates between 4-5 am, but in reality, automatic updates keep failing even with Wi-Fi turned on overnight. If I wanted to update my iPhones, I would typically have to manually update via settings

In July 2022, during a flight from Dallas back to Boston, my iPhone 13 Pro Max and iPhone SE 2 would fail to connect to JetBlue's Wi-Fi network several times and if connected, the Wi-Fi was painfully slow and near unusable whilst my Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra connected to JetBlue's Wi-Fi network just fine and worked as expected, with websites loading reasonably quick, just like at my university with the S21 Ultra.

In my collection, none of my Androids, Blackberry Curve 2009, and even Motorola Razr V3 broke on its own, but only the Kindle Fire 1st generation (2011), the iPhone 4, and the iPad Pro broke down on its own and all (even cheap 2010s Androids, 2000s Blackberries, etc, still function completely.

I have been using Android and Windows devices bug free except for maybe 1 bug every two months they are easy to fix, but with iPhones/Macs, we run through multiple bugs per week but there seems to be no fix. Not even an update can do it. Also, based on my experience a few months ago, Apple Music removed one movement of the Benda Violin Sonata 23 and even though it is still on Apple Music, I couldn't download the piece. That piece has been removed from my playlist permanently because my iPhone thought that the licence has expired. I couldn't remove the ghost playlist (which caused the Benda piece to be blacklisted) on the library and I had to remove it from "Apple Music Home". Luckily, that got rid of the bug and I am now playing that movement once again.

My Android (S26U) could continue charging via the Tesla wireless charger, but after a few minutes via local roads with stop and go traffic and turns, the iPhone just stopped charging on the Tesla wireless charger despite it sitting on the pad. That applies to the iPhone SE 3 but not the iPhone 16/17 Pro Max as these newer and bigger iPhones still continue charging.

I bought a MacBook 15' i9 2019 with 512GB in August 2019, used it for light programming, light gaming, and heavy browsing and schoolwork. It died in November 2021 because of a logic board failure. Even with a Louis Rossmann fix, it is only enough to transfer files then it died again. I bought a MacBook 16" m1 2021 in December 2021, and other than the fact one USB C port died and the screen is slightly darker in the bottom, the MacBook pro 16 m1 2021 still works as of 11 December 2025. In fact, the battery is decent, where even in December 2025 (after 4 years), it only drained from 100 to 50 in 3-4 hours of medium to heavy usage. In contrast, in September 2021, my previous MacBook went down from 100 to 50 in 50 minutes, a class period.

I owned a 2013 iMac 21.5 inch I bought in 2013 that even though it is slow as of 2021 and equally slow in December 2025, it still works solidly with minimal reliability issues. I used to use it daily until about 2017, and between 2017 and 2023, I used a Mac as a photo gallery 24/7 showing images of my sister Alina. The iMac still works, is currently in my apartment, but it is extremely slow. My iPod classic is also reliable.

My cousin's Galaxy Buds had no reliability issues, but his sister's AirPods, friends' AirPods (numerous friends), and my AirPods (several) are all affected by one side discharging in the case every week or two and even reset buttons and cleaning the case wouldn't help, but at least three pairs of airpods were affected.

When I load one site, the favicon doesnt update (like say if Niche.com changed their favicon), it doesn't update and it only updates for websites of which I first visited recently, not first visited like long ago. Then, safari changes the favicons randomly. Also, with titles and stuff, the website title doesn't change when I click on a link to another Instagram account, for instance and that is Safari on Mac.

I bought the AirPods Pro 2 in October 2022. After about two weeks (mid October 2022), this issue started occuring where the left airpods is draining even when it is in the charging case and the iPhone believes it is connected even though it is inside the case and even though I tried resetting it using the white button on the back of the AirPods and even forgetting the device (unpairing it) and even cleaning and charging the case, nothing works. I had to wait several days for the AirPods to reset to 100 on both sides again. Then, the more heavily I use the Airpods in a certain day (like during a flight), then this issue happens again. It happens every 2-4 weeks and nothing seemed to help. It is not just this AirPods unit which exhibits this issue. My AirPods 2 I owned between February 2022 and October 2022 exhibited this very issue, two weeks after I bought it new at Target. Dave Nguyen has owned his Galaxy buds since 2019, used it daily, and there has been no reliability issues on his side. Also, I owned an AirPods 1 between July 2018 and February 2022, with multiple periods of dormancy and the longest period the AirPods was dormant was between January 2020 and January 2021. Yet, by December 2021, the battery only lasted an hour or less and in cold temps (like 0 degrees C), it is so short distanced, even if I put my iPhone in my pants pockets, it couldn't reach my AirPods.

In July 2025, I owned an iPhone 16 Pro Max, Galaxy S25 Ultra, and iPhone SE 3. My $500 MSRP Windows laptop, GS25U, GS23U, and Galaxy A54 could connect to the Best Western Bordentown WiFi. The 16PM, 15PM, SE3, SE2, and MBP 16" m1 2021 all fail to connect to Best Western Bordentown. My iPhone 16 Pro Max was on T-mobile ($60 prepaid plan) and yet, the internet is slower and there are often less bars than my Galaxy S25 Ultra, which is on the Mint Mobile unlimited $30 plan (also a T-mobile but deprioritised network, which is funny, as Mint is supposed to be inferior to T-mobile). I tried having both phones on the same carrier but it seemed like the Android is better than iOS both rounds. This has been consistent even on the iPhone 15 Pro Max and Galaxy S24 Ultra and S23 Ultra even vs 15PM. Not only does Apple fail to load the wifi logon screen for Best Western Bordentown, it failed to connect. None of the devices were able to connect. Funnily, unless I unselect auto join, everytime I am close to a university (I attend MIT and almoat all universities in the world have eduroam), I get greeted with a pop up message to either accept certificate or re enter my email and password on iPhone. On Android, I don't get this pop up when approaching universities. At MIT using eduroam, MacBook and iPhones struggle on MIT's eduroam and are all slow whilst Android and Windows connected faster (and more successfully without dropping any connections) and could browse more succinctly. According to the MIT IT department, they have seen that iPhones and Macs struggle with internet whilst Androids and Windows don't.

Also, funnily, even though my sister (25F) owned both a Galaxy S10+ I gave to her between 2019-21 and an S21 Ultra between 2021 and 2023 (she upgraded to an iPhone 14 Pro Max in May 2023 and later upgraded to the 17 Pro Max in November 2025) and used a Galaxy A50 as her backup phone since 2019 and funnily, even in 2025, her Galaxy A50, despite being slow and showing usual battery degradation, it still functions very well.

Here is what's even more glaring: When I was in Europe, I bought two identical SIM cards and my Android (Galaxy S26 Ultra) consistently shows more bars, is faster, has better coverage, and uses less data than my iPhone 17 Pro Max even though both are contemporaries. Case in point, at both the Chateau de Versailles and the commuter rail in Barcelona, all the iPhones I see and my iPhone had 2-3 bars of 3G and all the Androids I see and my Samsung (even the budget and mid range and older Androids) have 4 bars of 5G, and if pre-2019, then 4 bars of LTE. Here is what’s more extreme: I have a budget Android phone with 5000 mAh battery and a budget iPhone SE 3 with 2000 mAh battery. Both sit there and look at a single photo with it on the whole time but even with a controlled environment, the Samsung lasted 16-20 hours even with WiFi on and connected but iPhone even without WiFi only lasted 3-4 hours. My 17 Pro Max has a similar battery capacity to the S26 Ultra and even with less intensive usage, I ran out of battery mid day but my Samsung has 20% by day’s end. A movie that is about 25GB on my Samsung takes up 50-55GB on iMovie on Mac and Mac claimed that it would take 25GB and I have 45GB of storage but then ran out of storage halfway through the download from my iMovie project.

Funnily, in 2020, my primary phone was the 11 Pro Max and later the 12 Pro Max when that was released in November 2020. I have a 6S (from 2015-20) with its battery replaced in 2017. Yet, even in 2016, the battery dies after 2-4 hours of medium usage and I always had to rely on a charger. In 2020, I played a game like homescapes using the 6S. The battery health was at 85% but the phone dropped from 90% to 40% in 10 minutes. My S26 Ultra gets significantly better battery life than my iPhone, even when recording 4K 60 video for 1-2 hours during European trips. Sometimes, even if you charge overnight and the iPhone is asleep, it wouldn’t even charge to full (in many cases, it only charges to 60 or 70 percent, even if I set charge to full now instead of wait until a certain time to go up from 80-100) whilst the android charges from 20 percent to full in 2-3 hours with 5W. I controlled the experiment with the same wattage battery chargers and the iPhone uses more watts of power compared to Android despite a slightly smaller battery on the iPhone. Many YouTube propaganda state that apples battery is more efficient but I haven’t seen it with my experiments. iPhones battery seem to degrade faster than Android. Also, I have a 10000 mAh portable power bank (wired charging) charged to full without degradation. My 5000 mAh Android charges it 2x over from 20 to 100 within one lifespan of the power bank. My 17 pro max however, only charged between 15 and 45 percent (it also has around 5000 mAh) and the power bank went from full to empty even without many tasks.

I have even tested out the wattage, and it seemed like Apple has used x Wh of battery and charged at half or a third of the rate of my Samsung, with the rest of the charge being wasted by energy waste.

TL;DR: iPhones are trash and riddled with multitudes of reliability issues that no one wants to address whilst flagship Android (specifically modern Samsung) is clearly more reliable than any iPhones I have owned. Apple is trying to denigrate other brands and lobbying for a monopoly, so watch out.
