Early crab apples
Wasn't expecting to make this post this early but found a crabapple tree that was actually a little past ripe so I got to go apple picking today. Every season I like to make crab apple jelly and give them as Christmas presents. Every other tree around me won't be ripe for another two to three months but here's looking to an early harvest
Just found this sub and wanted to share my new deck
I'm new to reading cards and I found this deck at a funky little occult shop a few weeks ago. I love this thing so much and the reading have been really accurate and helpful
Wanted to say hi
Just found this sub and wanted to say hi. I'm from the US and found Hinduism about a decade ago and fell in love with the religion. I consider myself a Shiva devotee and am excited to interact with others
What did you guys get to do last night?
I was able to charge some braclets that were gifted to me and my daughter with star energy during the meteor shower. What did everyone get to do?
Weird flying bugs?
Anyone know what's going on with the sudden influx of flying bugs? There's dozens of swarms of them on our lawn and the birds are feasting in the sky
Tell me about your eclipse myths
With the exlips coming up id love to hear eclipse stories and myths from different practices. In your tradition or culture what causes an eclips? In my practice the eclipse is caused by demons named Rahu and Ketu
According to the Puranas, the birth of Rahu and Ketu dates back to the earliest of times. ‘Samudra Manthan‘ is regarded as one of the most important events in the history of Hindu civilization. The Solar and Lunar eclipse is also associated with ‘Samudra Manthan.’
Due to senaganins involving the god of weather and lightening Indra the Devas (gods) lost their immortality. Eventually they decided to work with the Asuras (demons) to churn the Ksheer Sagar, the cosmic Ocean of Milk, to extract Amrita—the divine nectar of immortality that would restore their power. When the Asuras and Devas churned the ocean, ‘Amrit’ was produced along with many other treasure and deities.
Upon its recovery Lord Vishnu took incarnation in the form of a beautiful damsel ‘Mohini‘ and said she would distribute the Amrit among all starting with the Devas as there was no intention to share with the Asuras
‘Svarbhanu,‘ one of the asuras, changed his appearance to a deva to obtain some portion of the Amrit. However wile he was drinking, Surya (Sun) and Chandra (Moon) realized this and told Vishnu. Lord Vishnu quickly severed Svarbhanu’s head with his discus, the Sudarshan Charka.
However, even though his head and body became separated, they remained immortal as separate entitys. The head is known as Rahu, and the headless body is the Ketu.
Since then, Rahu and Ketu constantly chase the Sun and the Moon for revenge as they are the cause of separating the head and body of eachother. It is a popular belief that when they succeed in catching Sun and Moon, they swallow them, causing a Solar or Lunar eclipse, but they can’t hold them for long, and Sun and Moon emerge again intact.
(This info has been greatly summerized to focus only on the eclips aspect so there's a lot of info I'm leaving out for the sake of post length, if your interested in the churning of the great ocean I'd highly recommend looking into it because it's a cool story)

[OC]This glass lotus changes with the light, and that became part of its meaning for me
I was going through a difficult period when I started developing this lotus. A lot of things in my life felt uncertain, and focusing on the piece gave me something quiet to hold on to.
I didn’t want the lotus to have one fixed color. Under different light, different colors come forward, and that started to remind me of how people change through different stages of life.
Sometimes, when we’re in a difficult period, it can feel like that version of us is the whole story. But it isn’t. Every stage brings out a different side of who we are.
For me, this lotus became a reminder that we don’t have to remain one fixed version of ourselves. We were never meant to be just one color.
I think every handmade piece carries a story. I’d be happy to share more about the stories behind my work, and I’d also love to hear what has inspired something you’ve made.
So anyone else concerned about the new Saja boys on AGT?
Patterns, magic, devilishly good looks. We may need to call the girls
Would anyone be able to identify this yantra?
A friend of mine found this a few blocks from her house yesterday along with several burned objects. Can anyone help identify it?
Wanted to share this beautiufl deck I got recently
I found this at my local women owned occult shop and felt so drawn to it. I practice Hinduism along with my craft and seeing Kali felt like a sigh as I've recently had to uproot my life to escape an abusive toxic ex. The readings I've done have been so empowering and I wanted to encourage everyone to check out their local shops as you never know what you'll find
A fun kids version of Alice I found at the libeary
What music do you listen to In ritual?
Curious what everyone listens to during ritual if you listen to music. I use a lot of mantras in mine but recently have found bagpipe music that tickles my brain just right and gets me into a ritual headspace extremely quickly. Anyone else listen to anything kind of wacky or weird?
I am once again asking for your rarest memes
