What exactly makes boxing less appealing these days?

I started watching in the 00's and I loved boxing. There were so many big names, a lot of fights to tune into. Rising stars, dominant champions, the whole deal. I found myself watching a whole plethora of fights throughout the year. Then, I got more and more into MMA and I watch the UFC almost exclusively. I watch big boxing fights so that's maybe one or two fights a year. This year so far it was Shakur vs Lopez and Inoue vs Nakatani. Now, I'm not saying there weren't other spectacular fights - Dubios vs Wardley was good, Benavidez vs Ramirez etc, I just didn't time in live.

I'm not trying to say that boxing doesn't have anything to offer or that they only have boring fights. I just can't put my finger on exactly why it's less appealing and I don't think it's only me. A lot of my friends were big boxing fans (like myself) and most of them don't even tune into any fight, no matter how big. The last one we watched was Canelo vs Crawford and that was nine months ago. Meanwhile, I'm watching every big UFC main card of which there's probably one a month on average and on a fight night, I won't miss the main event.

Did MMA steal boxing fans? That sounds like a weird thing to say but I just the UFC in particular stole a huge fanbase from boxing.

I corrected my boss during a meeting where they wrongfully criticised me and now I'm worried

I'm heading out on a flight tonight and I've booked this trip a few weeks ago. Prior to me even booking the flight, I told my boss and the team that I'll be going for this time period (mid Aug to early Sep), I'll try to work diligently and finish off as many things as I can, etc and got the green light. I mentioned it in person and also sent teams messages just so there's a written trail.

During this morning's team meeting, my boss told me he'd like me to attend an important meeting next week. I said oh, as I said I'm going to be on leave for the next three weeks. He said what? When did you mention this? I said I mentioned it ages ago, I've put leave in the system and everything. Then he was like look guys, we really can't have people just going on leave like this last-minute without the rest of the team being fully informed. When did you last mention this to us? You know this a busy period, we have so many deliverables, the rest of the team knows to be available etc.

What annoyed me was that no-one in the team stood up for me either. Then, in the middle of our meeting, I literally forwarded him the messages on teams that I sent prior both in the GC and privately and told him to read them again. Now, I admit I said this is in an angry tone just cause I was annoyed. I guess I came across like a bit of a dick and got defensive when he suggested I wasn't following protocol when I was. I basically said it's not my fault that you can't remember what I've literally said to you multiple times.

The meeting kinda abruptly ended and now I'm feeling a bit iffy... Should I send an apology message? Try to smooth things over? I'm kinda concerned about my job now.

Why are people so unaware and clueless of their expenses?

I'm pretty frugal, I don't really spend money on anything at all. My biggest expense weekly is probably steak since I cook some good ribeyes every week. I was chatting with my mate trying to help him budget. He lives in a sharehouse with pretty minimal living expenses and earns $70k. Someone earning that much paying $300 a week max for a roof over their head should be saving a good amount but he said he was struggling to save and wanted some help.

He was saying yeah I've got too many subscriptions, that's the main problem. We go through his expenses, I put it all on Excel and just as an example his uber eats bill alone was fucking insane. It averaged out to like $300 a week. Now to be fair, that included orders for other people too who transfered him for their portion so the 'real cost' was lower but still, it's a crazy amount to spend on delivered food which doesn't even include groceries or going out to eat. Then include the costs of going out to concerts, buying drinks/other fun things like yeah no wonder you can't save. The weird thing is he didn't realise how much he was spending until I pointed it out to him despite it being an exorbitant amount.

The thing that gets me is how he was worried about his subscriptions... Lmao that probably totalled to maybe $200 a month. A decent cost obviously and probably worth cutting down but it's far from being his most pressing issue. It's one thing if he said "I've got a lot of different expenses, I'm spending too much on uber eats, concert tickets, raves, dining out and I need to cut down". Instead he thought one of his smallest monthly expenses were his biggest... Kinda crazy.

Reiss jackets and coats

Anybody have any experience with this brand in general? I see it online a lot. The main criticism I've heard about this brand is their pricing but their outlet has some major discounts.

Currently search for a coat and I'm seeing ~40% discounts for ones that were $700-900 now selling for $300-500. The ones I'm seeing aren't 100% though and are a wool blend instead (61% wool, 22% viscose, 17% nylon).

What are the opinions of this sub? Seems like the quality of their pieces is very high at the discounted price point.

Boss does not seem to give AF about our 1 on 1 catch-ups...

I was looking forward to these meeting just to get some 1 on 1 time with him, maybe get to know each other, talk some work stuff too. Mainly what I can do to progress, things I need to learn and tasks I should own to show I'm ready for the next step up etc.

The issue is, he does not seem to have any time. At first when I joined, it was weekly and my boss made it for the first 3 months. Then he made it fortnightly due to his workload and always skipped it last minute. I mentioned it to him in passing and then he made it monthly and still never attended it. I brought it up with him again, he apologised due to how much he's got on his plate and it's still monthly on the calender but he's always got some reason to cancel it.

An unpredicted meeting came up, have some kind of personal duty (picking up kids from school) something needs urgent attention blah blah. Emergencies in accounting are so funny to me lol but that's a different story. He literally never has any time for me - despite having it when I first joined - and I just get the feeling that he can't be fucked.

I don't think he dislikes me or anything, we get along just fine and I get along really well with everyone at work. I've mentioned how we should really have our catchup multiples times and he just apologises and promises to make the next one, never does and it's a cycle. I don't want to keep reminding him because it's just annoying at this point.

Any tips? He's my boss so I don't want to piss him off but also, do your job? If you can't handle the responsibilities of a PL, probably shouldn't be one. No offense.

Is 'wanting sex everyday' seen as strange or an anomaly?

With my current partner and previous ones, sex every day is/was normal. I desire sex every day and my partner does too. I usually have the higher sex drive so if I'm in the mood and my partner isn't, I'll go jerk off or something. Other times, we'll have sex multiple times a day.

The reason I say this is because I've been reading a bunch of threads now where desiring sex every day is seen as crazy or wanting too much. Apparently, you're only supposed to be horny 2-3 times a week. Is it even that rare to want sex every day? I feel like guys have a higher sex drive in general due to testosterone but even many of my female friends think daily sex is healthy and it's what they'd desire in a relationship.

Why does it seem to be such a crazy idea online?

He's probably never coming back but if he never got injured... How would this have gone?

We obviously know how much of a monster Islam is at 170 but Shavkat does have the bigger frame. Skill-wise, I'd put Islam higher but not by too much. Shavkat is obviously super well-rounded, I doubt Islam could control him on the ground, given Shavkat's grappling and more importantly, the size and strength difference.

We don't really know what's Islam's conditioning is like at 170, I'd assume worse than 155 with the extra muscle mass he's carrying. I'd probably say either Shav UD or finish in the championship rounds.

Do all corporate jobs have this much downtime?

I realise this is very industry/seniority dependent. I'm currently on $110k base in BA/Accounting role and on average work around 3-4 hours a day. I have busier days (month-end) where it's closer to a 8 hour work day but still not. I've got other days (post month-end) where I might have nothing to do the entire day.

I generally finish my day at around 12 or 1, and I schedule my email outputs throughout the day to look productive I guess, it's just become a habit now. I've got teams on my phone so I respond to any messages promptly and I just go what I need to after that. Go to the gym, go out with friends, grocery shopping etc. I don't go too far obviously cause I might have to come back for a call/meeting.

Had a catch-up with my PL and he had nothing but good feedback for me. Are all corporate jobs (atleast in the junior-ish stage) like this? Obviously if you're a HO/director/executive, your day wouldn't look like this. You also wouldn't be on Reddit during work hours or probably at all.

This doesn't compare to my previous jobs (retail, fast food) at all. I'm doing a fraction of work and getting paid way more. Honestly feels like a scam, not complaining though, just curious about the opinions of this sub.

Best wool double breasted coat for $400?

I feel like people don't even wear these anymore, you rarely see them but I've recently fallen in love with wool double-breasted overcoats. The length going down to the knees or lower makes it the perfect option in the chilly season even over a t-shirt imo. My budget is ~$400 and there's a bunch of wool options for the price. Peter Jackson, Scotch and Soda, Charles Tyrwhitt, Reiss etc.

Anyone have any experience with these brands? It's obviously a lot of money and I want to get the best bang for my buck.

Edit: Checked out MJ Bale CBD store, coats were $600+ good material and well built though

Beyond the Valley 2026 - how 'bad' is general admission?

I've never been to one of these camping for 4 days concerts before so I'm pretty keen to go. I'm not referring to just BTV but any multi-day camping festival. It's obviously expensive, about $700 AUD or more depending on the package. I was initially okay to go GA but talking to a few people who did it last year, it gets pretty goddamn filthy.

I'm not trying to be elitist or anything lol but I'd like a more elevated experience if the conditions do get bad. I don't mind spending a bit more to make sure I can take a nice shower and have access to a toilet that isn't covered in munt and shit.

Can anyone who's been chime in? Did you go for general or the premium camping experience? Any regrets? Was the steep price a factor? Cheers!

I need to know if my friend is being 'weird' with my grilfriend or not

I know everyone has different thresholds of comfortability but I just want to know in general, if this is weird or not.

My girlfriend became good friends with a mate of mine 'Chris'. Chris and I are mates but we are not good friends, we don't message each other privately, don't call. We talk when there's a group event/party once a fortnight maybe. Chris became good friends with my girlfriend because they share similar interests/hobbies which is fine with me, we don't need to have the same close friends. They text each other all the time and probably call a few times a week.

The issue I have is that he doesn't seem to want to talk to me at all. If I message him, I never get a reply back while he seems to remember to text my gf just fine. He seems a bit avoidant of me in person too. He's not dismissive to my face or anything, he'll say hi and we'll chat but he gets along with everyone else in the group to a much better extent than me. I generally don't have any issues getting along with people so this stumped me.

Chris and my gf have been hanging out 1 on 1 a fair bit. I generally don't mind that, I've hung out with female friends 1 on 1 in relationships before and my partner has done the same but it bugs me because he hasn't made an effort to get to know me or even check if I'm comfortable with that. I trust my gf 100% but he even opens her door for her when she gets in his car, he doesn't let her pay for anything, he drives her around wherever she wants to go. She's insisted plenty of times that she'll pay him back or take the bus etc but he insists back.

My gf is very open with me, frequently communicates and tells me everything so this isn't about her, but moreso him. This isn't just 'friendly' behaviour, right? I'm going to chat to both of them soon but I need to know if I'm being reasonable or not.

Why are people surprised that Gen-Z is spending less money on alcohol than ever before?

I don't think alcohol has never been more expensive than it is today. Here in Aus, a pint of beer is between $12-18. A cocktail would be atleast $20 all the way up to $30+ at nicer joints. It can definitely be cheaper at happy hour which does make it more appealing.

I feel like everyone I know either does pres or takes part in other substances instead of alcohol. Who the hell is going to a bar and spending atleast $60-80 just on themselves to get a decent buzz? Maybe rich people can do that but that's just not feasible to most folks. I feel like that's the least surprising news ever given the prices at bars/clubs but it keeps coming up as a headline and people get surprised.

How do you set and follow relationship boundaries at a rave?

I have a rave group which formed about a year ago which includes my girlfriend. We've gone to probably a rave every fortnight so we've all gotten close. In the last rave, I split up from the group to side quest and one of the guys in the group gave my girl a shoulder ride. I thought that was a bit weird as someone else showed me a video that they took the day after and he had his hands on her thigh and stuff. There was another video of a few of them lying down after when legs were jelly and she was lying on top of another guy in the group. I know I'm going to be called hella insecure by the reddit mob but I just didn't find that comfortable.

I talked to my gf after that and she said she didn't even remember that and a good portion of the whole night. She was very apologetic about making me feel weird and wished she was in control/remembered more. I talked to the lad who gave her the shoulder ride and the group in general and they said they either didn't remember or didn't even know it was her. To be fair to them, they were also on another planet and they did apologise for making me feel weird.

I guess I'm asking for advice on how to tackle things like this. I feel like you can set all the boundaries and whatever else you want in a relationship but if you're all getting gakked, I feel like boundaries are the last thing you're going to remember. Do I just tell her that I want her to be sober? And we just do sober raves together from now on? Do a small amount so you still have full control/memory? Is that a fair? She's already super sensitive so it isn't like she takes much and it still sends her into orbit.

Would like to hear from folks who've been in similar situations. I don't want to dictate what she can do but at the same time, I have my own personal boundaries and things I'm comfortable with.

What is the most clutch, winning point in GS history?

Let's limit it to the quarter-finals and above and very difficult winning shots, when down a match point or multiple match points. For it to be truly clutch, they'd have to end up winning the match obviously. Entire performances can be and are clutch but I'm moreso referring to a single point. Often times, it would be the turning point in a match where the tide starts shifting.

I'd probably give it to Nole against Fed in the 2011 US Open. I feel like the circumstances make it wild. Down TWO match points, against one of the greatest servers of all time on his first serve, crowd was completely against him. You could argue it was one of the most important shots in tennis history as the result of this match really shifted the momentum in the big 3 rivalry and Novak started to really establish himself as the best player in the world. He turned into a Terminator in 2011.

Keen to hear more!

What's actually happening to property prices?

I keep seeing contradictory information everywhere. When I search for properties in areas I'm planning to invest in (East Melbourne) there's less or no properties available in my price range than there was 6-12 months ago. Therefore, I'm led to believe that prices have gone up in the 600-800k price range.

However, I keep seeing that the "bubble has broken" and prices have gone down. So... Is this happening to only expensive houses? $2m houses now selling for $1.7m? What housing bubble has burst exactly? Apparently property owners are nervous due to falling property prices but WHERE ARE THEY?

At this point I'm just convinced people are exaggeration the hell out of this 'drop'. If you know anything about these 'drops', do let the rest of us know.

My girlfriend thinks me driving her around is 'what I'm supposed to do'

My girlfriend gets anxiety while driving because she caused a crash in my own car while she was learning to drive. She hasn't tried to get over it or anything and has kind of accepted that she won't be driving. Because of this, I've been driving her around. We normally hang out at my house since her parents don't want her dating, my parents are super chill. 3-4 times a week, I'll drive to her house, pick her up and then bring her back to mine. At the end, I'll drop her home and then come back home. She lives 20 mins away so that's 1 hour and 20 minutes of just driving I have to do when I see her. There's no solid public transport route between our houses. It's a 20 min drive or a hour and a half by bus.

The issue is that she doesn't see this as 'labour' or something I'm doing for her benefit. She just sees it as something I'm supposed to do. It would be nice if she acknowledged that I was basically chauffuering her around but she just acts like it's something I should do because she has anxiety when driving. For eg, we went on a roadtrip for our anniversary and obviously I had to do all the driving. After 6 hours driving, I was knackered. We got to the Airbnb, settled down and I asked her if she was okay to cook dinner and clean after since I drove us all the way and she got to sleep.

She said come on, we switch duties 50/50. If I cook, then you have to clean. I said yeah I'm down to do that usually, but I'm really tired from driving. She said really? You're tired from just putting the car in cruise control and staring at the road? All you're doing is driving, men drive around their gf's all the time. I get tired driving personally, I know not everybody does but she just refuses to see it as 'labour' in the same way as cooking for your partner or cleaning after your partner. Surely, driving your partner around has to count for something, right? Am I expecting too much?

Car loan that sounds too good to be true

Geely is currenting doing a ~0.6% loan for their cars which seems insane. Been checking out a few of their models and they seem pretty well built and just overall, good value for the price. With that interest rate, you end up paying only a couple hundred dollars over the life of the loan. Considering car loans are usually a higher rate than your mortgage, this seems like the best deal ever.

I know this sub is incredibly against car loans usually but at this rate? You'd be stupid not to take it.

Is it irresponsible to purchase a car which costs almost as much as your annual wage?

My mate earns around $85k base and recently purchased a BYD for ~$70k at a 1.8% rate. Obviously that's a great interest rate for a car loan. He says he can easily manage the repayments as he lives at home and has minimal expenses. Take home pay is around $5.1k a month so a $1.2k repayment (23.5% of take home pay) doesn't seem too bad. Including insurance, rego, servicing and other costs might be $300-400 a month so around $1.6k a month (31% of take home pay). Depreciation is a big factor, especially for a new car but since it's a non-cash expense he'll be able to stay afloat.

The reason I'm asking this is because when I first heard how much the car costs and how much he earns, I panicked thinking he was going head first into financial ruin. However, after running the numbers, it honestly doesn't seem too bad. Certainly not the symbol of frugality but also not incredibly stupid.

Is it common knowledge that tradies are doing better than most white collar professionals?

I know a bunch of tradie mates and have a couple in my family too. I've never deeply inquired about their financials obviously, that's pretty invasive but just chatting to them, billing $1k a day seems pretty common. I'm not talking about folks with decades of experience but even younger lads. If you've ever used a tradie before, you'd know that even simple jobs would be ~$200 for maybe half an hour to an hour of work.

If you take a self-employed tradie that takes annual leave, public holidays and the occasional sickie, that might be 230 working days. Billing and average of $1k a day is $230,000 of gross revenue. Business expenses for the year? Say $40k so $190k pre-tax income. Take super out (~12%) so that's $167k pre-tax. After tax/Medicare levy, looking at $115-125k take home pay or ~$10k a month.

As a salaried tradie, pretty common to hit $120k after the first few years, ~$150k with OT and obviously FIFO hits $200k+. In terms of salaried progression, that's on par with most high demand, high paying white collar roles like engineering.

It's tough, manual labour work early in the morning, have to get down on your hands and knees so not an easy job by any means. I'm not saying tradies don't deserve it, it's hard work and they should be compensated but do people in general know how much they make? Is that why less and less men are going to university here?

BMW 330i M Sport vs Subaru WRX TS - Which one?

I wouldn't have thought it but they are in the ~$40k price range. The year would be 2021-ish which is good, I don't want to buy a car 10-15 years older and deal with big maintenance and repairs costs. I'm usually super wary of European cars in general but the B58 is great and that version of the 330i is generally reliable from what I've heard.

What do ya'll reckon?
