I've Been Into "K-Pop Demon Hunters" Lately And...

Can't help but be toying with the idea of Celine (the mentor of Huntrix and Rumi's adopted mother) being shipped with Dave (specifically from the 2015 series). Think about it:

-Both are stern guardians to their respective kid(s). Yet, Celine seems more patient than Dave.

-Had been or are heavily involved in music (Celine was in a band with Rumi's mom while Dave is a songwriter.).

-Though he'd faint at the revelation, Dave would actually be understanding if told of the demon-hunting. Especially if Celine promised not to bring the Chipmunks and the Chipettes into it. The last thing Alvin and Britney need is to be trained in fighting demons.

-Along with Bobby, Dave could serve as a supportive father-figure to Rumi even if he knew of her parentage. He'd probably help Celine and Rumi reconcile (here's KittyMonk for context: In Defense of Celine? (KPop Demon Hunters Video Essay) (Movie Review) ).

-Just think of all the chaotic fun Huntrix and the Chipmunks would get into (especially whenever Alvin and Mira team up).

So...any thoughts...

About "Isn't She Lovely":

I liked "Isn't She Lovely" but I feel like there were two other songs that could've fit Jax better.

Choice 1: "Perfect Day" (Specifically Lou Reed & All Stars (including Tammy Wynette, David Bowie and Elton John)) -

Lou Reed & All Stars - Perfect Day '97 (With Lyrics!) - YouTube

Choice 2: "Will You Be There?" (Michael Jackson) -

Will you be there- Michael Jackson (Lyrics also in the description)

And Choice 3: "Heart On The Line" (Michael Jackson) -

Michael Jackson - On The Line [Audio HQ] HD

What are your thoughts? Do you prefer any of those suggestions, or do you think "Isn't She Lovely" was good enough to stay?

"It verifies what we fans always knew: Irene deserved A LOT more for all her effort!":

TMZ just released this article on Irene about her unpaid royalties. It verifies what we fans always knew: Irene deserved A LOT more for all her effort! The TMZ article states that Irene did not know, even up to her death, that she was owed $333,353 in unpaid royalties by various companies. If you have a moment please read the brief article. A huge thanks goes out to Gman for finding the article on Facebook:

Any Fans Of "The Extraordinary Adventures Of Adele Blanc-Sec"?:

My headcanon has Tintin be the former student of Adele Blanc-Sec (Tintin started being her student as a kid back in 1923-1924 right after Adele's last book). Yet, with how hectic their lives can get, visitations were few and far between after Tintin became a reporter. Though Adele would still find time to look through Tintin's fan mail and "filter out" the love letters (without Tintin's knowledge)...Anyway when I got around to "Epic", I can't help but see Tintin and Adele as Ody and Athena respectively. Even with "Last Goodbye".

That being said, I don't know what would've made Tintin and Adele have such a confrontation. I know they're practically polar opposites (Adele is the French Daria: stoic, dead-pan and an anarchist. Tintin is a heroic, loyal and friendly good Catholic boy scout with a...temperament...).

With this in mind, Adele would be pretty mad with some of the stuff Tintin got into the years (his near-death experiences, being friends with kings and dictators, his religious side, and all his actions in "Land Of The Soviets" and/or "In The Congo" if we're including them...). But, as I'm yet to get a hold of "Extraordinary Adventures Of Adele Blanc-Sec: Vol. 1" and the very last story, "The Baby Of Buttes-Chaumont", I'm not sure of Adele's character development at this point (if she had gone through it in Tardi's works).

Still, with all of this in mind, what could've been Tintin and Adele's "Last Goodbye"?

About Doja The Fairy:

Just to clear the air, I'm not Romani, so please forgive me for my ignorance. Anyway, I had recently stumbled upon the short, "Doja The Fairy" (link: Cigánymesék: Doja, a Tales: Doja, the fairy ). And, out of curiosity, is Doja a mythological/folklore figure or was she just created for the short?

On (1980's) Coco:

Considering Coco from the 1980's "Fame", what are your headcanons about her? What do you think her homelife was like throughout the film? Do you think Coco and Bruno got together or just remained friends (despite what Bruno's dad believed, he didn't seem romantically interested)? What do you think happened to Coco after graduation? Would she still be driven for stardom or was she traumatized by that incident with the photographer? Would she be terrified of those photos getting out if she did become a star?

What are your thoughts?

"Baby, I'm A Star!":

According to this article, Irene's song "Fame" had inspired Prince when he was writing "Baby, I'm A Star":

"In 1981, Fame, sung by Irene Cara, won an Oscar for Best Film Theme Song. Maybe Prince’s eyes were on the same prize, because later that year he took hefty inspiration from its lyrics, particularly its opening lines, to create Baby I’m a Star, and then began to step up his own ambitions to star in and soundtrack a motion picture. He was moderately famous but in the words of his new demo, he didn’t want to stop until he reached the top. This movie, he believed, would be the rocket to take him to that highest strata of stardom" (500 Prince Songs - A review list of the greatest five hundred songs written by Prince. ).

How Would Irene Cara And Michael Jackson Fair As A Couple?:

TLDR: How would Michael Jackson and Irene Cara have gotten on as a couple? Would it depend on the timing? Would it depend on other matters too?
Ok, let’s try this again.

A couple months back, a fellow redditor, StationIllustrious94 , had posted this question only to be bombarded by a rude brigade due to it being around the Netflix MJ doc. So, with the dust mostly cleared off along with it being Michael’s recent birthday, I decided to ask this question again.

Pros: On the one hand, Michael and Irene had many things in common–
-Started performing at a very young age.
-Fathers worked in the steel mill.
-Mothers had originally made their costumes.
-Association with the number 5 (MJ was part of the Jackson 5 while Irene was the youngest of 5 siblings).
-While MJ was a fan of Diana Ross and of Snow White, Irene would play the titular “Sparkle” (a movie about a group based off of the Supremes) and Snow White in a “sequel” known as “Happily Ever After”. They also had been associated with “The Wiz” with Michael being in the movie and Irene being an understudy for Dorothy on stage.

-Speaking of the Supremes, Irene would spoof the group in her music video, "Girlfriends".
-Both had an interest in Old Hollywood.
-Had a love for kids (both wanted to have children of their own) and animals as well as contributed to charities.
-Had many peers in common: James Earl Jones, Donna Summer, Luther Vandross, Andy Gibb, Olivia Newton-John, Syreeta Wright, Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, Sammy Davis Jr., Diahann Carroll, Northern Calloway, DJ Bobo, Roberta Flack, etc.).
-Fought with their record producers.
-Lied on by the media.

-While Michael had "We Are The World", singers of Latin America wanted in on that too. So, on that same year and in that same studio (A&M), they had their version- "Cantare, Cantaras". Irene was among the ensemble.
-Both were drawn to holistic health and spirituality.
-Adored the beach and the waters (Instagram ).
-Then there’s the fact that Irene had conquered a fear of rats during the set of “Certain Fury” (Rock & Soul --- June 1985 ). How would Michael NOT have been impressed by that?!
-With her life, Irene had a balance between Hollywood and normal life and would’ve tried to ground Michael. She’d probably talk him out of “Living With Michael Jackson” while Michael would’ve talked her out of “Gone Country”.
-It wouldn’t be far-fetched to see Irene being a good stepmom to Michael’s children. One can even see her encouraging Michael to enroll them into a performing arts school (Paris for music and acting, Prince and Bigi for filmmaking.). And when Michael had passed on, Irene could most likely have the kids maintain a more private, normal life. Thus having them avoid a ton of issues down the line.
-It would be too optimistic to think that MJ would still be here had he been with Irene, but Irene could’ve tried to keep his finances in check and probably try to talk Michael out of doing all those shows for “This Is It”.

-There was also their meetings at the Grammys (where, ones with keen eyes could see MJ sneaking in a double kiss from Irene: Michael Jackson & Irene Cara kiss backstage at the 26th Annual Grammy Awards (February 28, 1984) ) and the Oscar's after party. There might even be a third considering that they were both at the American Music Awards.

-I also like to point out that Irene can moonwalk, herself. And in heels no less!: IRENE CARA - Breakdance (HQ Sound)

Cons:

  • Both can be independent and stubborn.
  • In personality, Irene Cara’s similar to Lisa-Marie Presley. How would Irene have better luck with Michael in a romance/marriage they’d have shared together? Especially with Michael’s tendency to ice people out?
  • As seen in her two episodes in “Gone Country” where she lost her luggage, was on the show in hopes to just focus on music and not the games/challenges, and Sean Young getting drunk in the middle of the night, there’s only so much Irene could take. Even in a long-distance relationship, how would she react to some of Michael’s struggles (workers who often stole or had stalking tendencies, Michael’s so-called “friends” taking advantage of him, the constant paparazzis and privacy invasion that would lead Michael to have a nervous breakdown, Randy’s car accident, etc.). And how would Irene have gotten along with Joe Jackson?
  • How would Irene have felt about what Michael said in his talks with Rabbi Schmuley (Michael Jackson: FOR ME LOVE IS SOMETHING VERY PURE | Vindicating Michael)?
  • Had Michael and Irene got together in the 80’s, there could be issues as Michael was at the start of his addiction(s?) due to the Pepsi Incident, while Irene was dealing with a cocaine habit (that she had managed to conquer by the late-80’s/90’s.).
    • Yet, would Michael have helped Irene in her fight against her record producers and the blacklisting she had endured? Would Irene have let him help or refuse within fear of the public seeing her as a gold-digger?
  • Then there’s if they had gotten together in the early-2000’s. Irene had beaten her cocaine habit at that time with smoking tobacco always being her main struggle. Would she have been able to know of MJ’s own drug issues or even help him? Could she have helped him? Would she had been in danger of relapsing due to the stress?

There may be some other things to consider regarding this. But this post is long enough. Any thoughts?

Questions/Opinions Regarding The Original Comics:

Have done this post before, but with this community starting to grow, I thought to do a repost of this, you know? Anyway...:

(1.) What were the best story arcs by Harold Gray?

(2.) Do you believe politics should've been kept out of the comics? Why or why not?

(3.) In your eyes, did "Little Orphan Annie" ever "Jump The Shark"? If so, when and how?

(4.) Should Mrs. Warbucks (Oliver's wife in the first comics) have been killed off, or should Gray have allowed her to live after her redemption arc?

(5.) Should the musical have been more faithful to the comics?

(6.) Should Annie have been allowed to grow up? If yes, what would've Annie's later years have been like? Would she have resented her upbringing? Would she have found herself more rebellious/at odds with Oliver?

(7.) Why's the comic always associated with The Great Depression when it first premiered in 1924 (right before "The Great Gatsby" was published)?

(8.) Should Harold Gray have revealed the circumstances of Annie's parents and her abandonment to Miss. Asthma's Orphanage?
