Are people aware that South Carolina is the most seismically active zone on the east coast? It seems most people in the country are not aware and only talk about hurricanes and flooding.

There was an estimated 7.0 magnitude earthquake in 1866 within the Charleston area.

Brokerage Account or 529 Plan

I maximize my Traditional 401k (choose it over Roth 401k), Roth IRA and HSA. What is next in your opinion? Open a Brokerage Account for myself and have more flexibility with helping my kids in the future or set up a 529 Plan for them. I live in MA and the deduction is not much for the 529 Plan. (I have two toddlers.)

Am I being ridiculous that I don’t want to move to Charleston, SC due to big earthquake risk?

My wife wants to move there to be closer to family, warmer weather and change in lifestyle. We have a young family and live in MA. I also would love a warmer climate too but struggling with the EQ fear.

The seems others states are growing significantly with transplants and not the other way around. Exception being out of state students.

My concern is education. I don’t understand how parents can help pay kids college education without a 529 Plan. I have two toddlers.
