My 15 year old son is looking to shed a few pounds and needs guidance. Does it make sense to get him a membership with the city fitness centers or are private establishments better?

Will probably get him a personal trainer as he doesn't have any experience with weights and equipment (I don't either) as I would like him to start on a proper path.

The goal is to lose 10-15 pounds and start a regular healthy exercise lifestyle.

We're a family of 6 visiting the area. Having a blast so far! I'm looking for a guided water experience that won't break the bank. In Canmore, we did a one hour Bow River guided raft experience for $75/person. Anything similar in the area? Everyone in the family is 13+. Nothing fancy. We just like being in the water and preferably in the same raft/boat to enjoy the beautiful surroundings.

My ten year old entry level Wahl trimmer stopped working recently so I bought the following Wahl Color Pro Hair Clippers from Amazon:

Unfortunately, despite the 4+ star reviews, I found the clippers become very hot after 10 mins and the smaller trimmer has very weak power.

Can anyone recommend cost effective and well-functioning (< $150 CAD) clippers? We use them every 6 weeks on my husband and two boys in the family. No fancy cuts. Just simple short cuts. Thank you!

I'm hoping to get some guidance with a CRA predicament that my 72-year old Dad has gotten into. It is rather lengthy so please bear with me.

He received a letter back in June regarding a review of his 2024 tax returns. CRA says he received investment income he did not report and included an attachment showing all the T3s and T5s it has on record.

CRA want him to provide:

1. Completed Federal Worksheet

2. All T5 slips, Statement of Investment Income

3. All T3 slips, Statement of Trust Income Allocations and Designations

4. Other documents used to calculate reported investment income

My Dad does his taxes using uFile. In 2024, he downloaded all his T-slips using the "Auto-Fill" function provided by CRA and built into uFile. I went on his laptop and checked his 2024 return and found that all the T3 and T5 issuers in CRA's attachment matched what I saw in the return. However, on closer inspection, I noticed three entries in the T3 section and two entries in the T5 section that were blank. The name of the issuer appeared but all the inputs (box 49, box 50, etc.) were blank.

Cross-referencing against CRA's document, the missing amounts totalled about $2K for the T3s and $3K for the T5s. For context, his total gross income in 2024 was around $60K.

Dad told me (and I recalled as well) that there were issues with CRA's Auto-fill feature in the months leading up to the 2024 tax deadline. These issues included delayed and/or missing T-slips.

My guess is that Dad used the Auto-fill feature, saw the names of the Issuers, but didn't check the values which were zero as a result of the CRA issues. Regardless, he takes full responsibility and willing to pay whatever taxes are owed.

Some questions for the community:

1. Can he write a note to CRA explaining what he (and I) believe happened?

2. Can I write it on his behalf as I can write it more elegantly?

3. If he tries to Auto-fill his 2024 return again, will the missing data appear?

4. If the missing data does appear and matches CRA's attachment, can he simply resubmit his 2024 return?

I appreciate any advice. This is causing Dad a bit of anxiety.

Hello, I would like some advice regarding using the Ontario Energy Rebate Program to get (1) proper attic insulation and (2) insulation above my garage (which sits under a bedroom). I understand that I need to get an energy audit done since I have two upgrades. I'm in the GTA by the way.

I have a some questions. Please bear with me.

1. What experiences have you had specifically for attic insulation or other insulation upgrades?

2. Did you get air sealing done? I have read that is very helpful when doing insulation.

3. Did you find the rebates helpful or did the authorized contractors seem to charge more which negated any savings?

4. Did you get your rebates back in a timely manner including the rebate for the audit itself?

5. My attic area is roughly 1200 sq ft and the area above the garage is roughly 300 sq ft. Should I expect a cost around 3K to 5K before any rebates?

6. Any recommended authorized attic insulation companies you used?

Any advice or info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!

Looking to get a car for my elderly father and interested in a 2021-2023 CX-5. He's adept at using touchscreens but obviously would need to learn to use the commander knob.

Before I take him to the dealership, just want to know how easy/hard is it to use Android Auto especially Google Maps. He likes taking scenic drives and exploring places so he uses Google maps a lot.

Can anyone share real world experience with a 2022 CRV and oil dilution? I live in a city with humid summers and cold winters and take several short trips a day. I was looking for a 2022 CRV and now am concerned about the issue.
