I know people mean well, kindness can only cover for so much.
I've been wanting to acquire my own, 8qt, but even my mothers back-up 8 quart suffers the same problem of "DEAR GOD WE NEED HEARING PROTECTION TO MAKE NUT ROLL / BAGELS / PIZZA DOUGH / BUTTER / etc.
It's only after she got the 'new' 8qt a few years back I noticed in Good Eats and other cooking shows, the modern kitchen-aids are...on separate audio channels, else THE COOK WOULD BE SHOUTING LIKE THEY"RE AT AN AIRPORT STANDING BEHIND THE TURBINE TALKING ON SPEAKER PHONE.
Hope that was entertaining to read, just feels unnecessary to require hearing protection when the older version are significantly quieter.
Gonna go find a decibel meter...the new mixers wake up the house. The old ones...we could do stealth cookies at 2am.

Slotted Stainless Steel sheets, rather hard to come across.
IF anyone has just the width and height of the holes, and the metal thickness between 2 slots horizontal and vertical, that would be amazing!
Dimensions should be in 1/1000th's or 0.1mm' But I'll take what info I can get. (A clock up picture with a ruler/meter stick/scale would convey a lot of information

I have a project coming up, and am looking for a blaster. Before asking what they can do, I'd like to learn what should be done. The issue in question is a large cast iron cylinder - used with food (it's old/ antiquated, and a f'n beast that'll outlive you and I, no it's not a skillet or dutch oven, it's a press)
The question is, blasting cast iron, with soda, glass, aluminum oxide, - is anything 'left behind' in the coating that wouldn't be easily removed with denatured alcohol before sealing etc.?
(Bonus note, the cylinder in question needs to remain smooth)

I have a ye-old casting, that terminates in a tapered-square peg, this fits into a ...matching tapered-square hole (mostly). But, I'm planning on changing out the current attached piece with another....that doesn't currently have a matching tapered-square hole.
Curious if there's anyone out there, who has, or has known of a geometry project similar to this.

My best idea - as this fixture is used to transfer rotational forces - and is retained by a screw/washer - is to just slowly...hand file the tapered square hole...but as you can imagine, how the hell is someone going to keep the parts parallel/perpendicular when 'eye balling' it? I'm Probably going to make a fixture to mount both in parallel/perpendicular and enable them to slide into each other.
I'm working on restoring a sausage/fruit press - and will be re-making the wooden handle. As part of that, I'm trying to learn what finish (Bees Wax? Shellac (softens in water)? Boiled Linseed Oil?) could/should work.
The use of this handle will have operators with freshly washed, and damp hands, or greasy hands from handling sausage, or sticky/acidic hands from handling lemons/apples/grapes/strawberries, etc. So anything that can resist, or repel those substances would be welcomed. No impacts/chipping should ever happen.
While not the idea wood, it's what I have access to, and will be making the handle form Red Oak. (Appearances don't matter, function, food safety does.)

This is a VERy quick draft, as I don't know if it'll even belong here in the subreddit.
Didn't even crop or rotate pictures, but of those I've included so far, have been the most ...intriguing to me.
I didn't expect the 'strainer plate' at the bottom to be japanned - but here we are. Doing a bit of detective work on this trying to figure out how it was sold.
Sadly, due to lack of resources (Gilsonite / Cold Pressed Turpentine / A designated oven & time/temperature steps) my restoration will *not* be returning the Japanned finish, but instead using an oil based enamel on the OUTSIDE & NON-FOOD CONTACT areas. Followed with BEESWAX Inside - because the typical 'season cast iron over heat/in the oven' isn't feasible here, and wasn't used previously. We'll be documenting our process along the way, and I HOPE to have detailed measurements on everything when done so others can use/learn etc. from them - and so the day I find a machinist, or become one, I can remake parts for this much closer to how they were.

Note: Ignoring Soldered parts - this press is made up of a total of...23 pieces? 29 if all soldering was undone on the strainer...and I had the missing 'large' plate.
I've only ever used round, but the oval/oblong (horizontal slits) seem to be more common, and I'm not sure why.

(Force In x Distance from Fulcrum) / Distance from Fulcrum = Force Out
(1kg x 1m) / 0? = ?
As shown, it's been a long...long while since I had to do basic physics, and clearly, can't reason my way through it - the 0 distance for the resulting force is tripping me up.

Asking here, because I spent a bit of time making the illustration (visual learner), and r/AskPhysics doesn't permit images :/
So something I'm working on calculating are the resulting forces of a proposed mechanical system - and I'm curious to learn if there's ANYTHING I'm not considering, specifically forces/stress related, to why ye-old handles wheels some times used curved spokes.
In my evaluation, Because D (Distance), F (Force), and the location of the fulcrum are the same all resulting forces should be the same. Still...something is causing an 'itch' in my brain that says 'the non perpendicular transfer from the outside of a wheel to the spoke means less stress when rotated in one direction and more in the opposite (I've seen 2x spokes S curved wheels as well.)
Or is this PURELY a cosmetic choice, and has 0 impact on the stressors?

I've cooked on many copper-tinned skillets, but something that escapes me are the earlier 'enameled' (Japanned) finishes that were designed with direct food contact in mind.
Same goes for the polymerization that is 'seasoning' cast iron gear with oils via controlled high heats.
All 3 of the mentioned 'coatings' have benefits & negatives, in terms of production requirements, and maintenance.
What I'd like to learn more of is 'how/when' were specific finishes on direct-food-contact determined to 'function' well enough?
Example: the illustrated Sausage/Fruit & Lard Press came in either 'Japanned' or 'Tinned' (and even some 'Galvanized') But outside of negative customer experience/product reputation, how was it known, these were good enough to go into production. I can't imagine, because the example press is a no-heat (as in 'not cooked with' cracklins's are toasty when pressed) operation the go-to 'seasoning cast iron' wouldn't be sufficient/intended.
All the while high acidic contact (lemon juice/tomatoes/etc) react ...as acids do with materials.
So, that's the inquiry/discussion - how were finishes like 'tinned'/'japanned'/'galvanized' verified to 'be good enough to manufacture' despite the reactions from food? Thanks!
^(Note: For anyone asking - 'Japanned' is a black coloured hard finish made from Asphaltum, Boiled Linseed Oil, and Turpentine (I presume Asphaltum was for colour - it's sold from paint suppliers, Turpentine was for 'thinning/application' of the coating - as it evaporates...and leave little(?) behind. and Boiled Linseed Oil is the actual protective coating.))
Japanning - it's a very old tough coating used for centuries. It's made up of 3 things:
The Gilsonite is dissolved in Turpentine, then Boiled Linseed Oil is added. The thick mixture is applied by being 'painted' or, in the case of this press, 'dipped'. Then 'japanned' item is baked multiple times at specific heats and cooled in between, 'setting' the coating.
So, knowing what it's made out of - and having seen that, indeed, the original presses were 'dipped' (coating inside and out), the question is - of the listed items, and knowing the process undergone, is it safe to pass food through? I, ignornatly, assume that the Turpentine evaporates, and the Gilsonite is just the finish pigment, so the Boiled Linseed Oil is the real concern (along with the particulates of Gilsonite that will inevitably be picked up)
Yes, I know there's multiple people who 'season' but that's not practical due to acidic foods such as tomato/apple/lemon.

Sounds pretty crazy right?
Problem is the press I'm using is #1 Cast Iron #2 old enough that I've no clue what the interior (food contact surface) was coated in...if anything. Every press was "Japanned" (Gilsonite / Turpentine / Boiled Linseed Oil) on the outside at least. "Japanning" the interior would be possible, but I've 0 information as to if that's as smart as eating paint chips instead of potato chips.
So #1 Safe for food contact #2 adheres to Cast Iron #3 Doesn't break down from fruit acids (lemons/tomatoes being the most aggressive. Apples being the most common. #4 can survive washes with soap.
Any thoughts/inputs on the matter would be greatly appreciated. At minimum - I can just hand wash with dawn dish soap before use, and coat in mineral oil between uses.
I make apple cider, and have been doing so for a number of years using tools made of stainless steel, and cotton, followed by a good round a pasturization.
Problem is, the method is extremely inefficient and physically taxing, so I'm planning on improving the situation by using an old Fruit/Sausage press - but am keenly(ignorantly?) aware that any 'seasoning/polymer' is going to slowly get eaten away by the acid from apples. That and the hot-soapy-water used to clean up afterward (apple juice...is sticky, go figure).
So my question is: How does apple juice react with cast iron? Are there any fun metals that'll be leached out or similar - as my current best plan is to raw-dog the cast iron interior, enamel/jappan the outside (as when first made, in the late 1800's - this press was sold 'jappaned' but I have no clue if that was *interior* and exterior, but outside sounds the most probable
(I can't imagine Japanning is safe to work with on food (Turpentine / Gilsonite/Asphitum / Boiled Linseed Oil <- there's no way that's safe for food contact...right?)

I've plenty of examples of how to make a loot table with an enchanted book randomly enchanted at a given level, or from a specific list. Curious if the "storedenchantment" is possible in the loot table.
Past that, I haven't found a guide on the 'weight' of the rolls, nor while examining current loot tables do I see a listing of "empty" taking up part of the weight. I speculate that the 'empty' option is something not explicitly stated when the 'weight' is applied.

Just working on identify what all needs to be included in a datapack to add new potions - their duration, using existing effects that don't currently have a potion. Finding the actual 'predicate' mentioned in the notes would help I imagine.
