The Sock War Diaries

The morning dew is thick and cold. Remnants of squeaky toys echo in the fog. I had two house shoes the night before… one’s gone now. Laundry Day is upon us, but I fear I will have no socks to match. The beast..it sleeps.. but for how long?…

Whatever happened to Crank 3?

The brilliant insanity of Jason Stratham paired with Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor was something special. Dwight Yoakam and Amy Smart were also an excellent addition to the films. It’s been almost 20 years and I still think about the possibilities and potential of what that movie could’ve been. Did they not have enough funding? Was there lack of interest to continue?

Approaching Crossroads

Been on this shit three years next month. My use peaked at 11.64 grams 06/13/26. It’s been 44 days and I’ve managed to hold at 6.12. It’s becoming much tighter to continue dropping so fast. Im also about to run out in three or so days.

Anyone here go to their primary care doctor about this?I have a file saved on my phone about it.

I was thinking this should explain everything best, but I’m hesitant about being turned away.

If worse comes to worse and I go to the hospital. Will they have to admit me or just give me things to make it for the week mark? I can handle the bone chilling anxiety, restlessness, and the body stiffness. I just can’t risk having a seizure, stroke, or heart attack.

At the tail end of 2020, I went through simultaneous pregabalin and gabapentin cold turkeywithdrawal. I was taking 600-900 mg Pregabalin some days, then taking 3600-4800 mg of gabapentin the other days. I maintained that cycle for 1.5 years. I was down for a few months, but I never went to a hospital or doctor about it.

Any experience or wisdom is greatly appreciated.

Ember was released on April 13, 2018

It just dawned on me today. I was listening to their YouTube release of Psycho and saw the date posted. I can’t believe it’s been eight years since Ben’s released a record. Dark Before Dawn was only a five year stretch from Dear Agony, and that was the longest of all his releases. I’ve enjoyed Awaken and Something Wicked This Way Comes, but these singles years apart suck.

Current era of Production

I’ve been diving into current industry standards for what makes a "professional" recording, and it’s got me thinking about the state of modern production.

With the tools we have now—AI-assisted mixing, total quantization, and endless track counts—it’s easier than ever to achieve a perfectly clean, polished sound. But it feels like there’s a recurring conversation about whether we’re sacrificing character for the sake of that polish.

I’m curious to hear your take: Do you think modern music is trending toward being "overproduced"? At what point does a track stop being "professional" and start sounding sterile or stripped of its human element?

Celebrating over 25 Years of Seether/ Saron Gas

The 24th Anniversary of Disclaimer is next month (Aug 20th) Any of you guys collect the different cover arts for the album?

I remember getting a copy of Disclaimer II for Christmas my freshman year of high school. I loved the entire album, but Cigarettes and Hang On were my special stand outs.

Since then, I’ve followed every album cycle from Holding Onto Strings Better Left to Fray (arguably their most diverse body of work) onward.

It’s been inspiring seeing Shaun take the reins of becoming the main producer of the last three albums. Dude’s got an incredible work ethic.

If anyone here is able to relay a message to any of those guys. “You guys are great. Thank you for everything. Now, change the fucking set list 😃”

What are your thoughts on Disclaimer and the other albums?

Awful orders are increasing

The amount of fckin orders I’ve declined between yesterday and this morning is bullshit. If you’re going to use DoorDash; match the tip at minimum with the mileage it takes to deliver to you. If not go get it yourself, or go fck yourself. Whichever is more convenient for you.

EQ on Garageband for iPhone

For those that record on iPhone (I’m on iPhone 11) are you able to do active EQ with analyzer on your songs? I keep hitting the bottleneck “optimizing performance.” I mainly use 15-18 tracks per song and five of them are guitars using various amps. Is this the limitation or is there a way around this?
