Before chibnall : christmas special was a tradition. The promise was broken by Chibnall …. No more the real christmas tradition since then. The capaldi christmas special all have something i enjoy (making justin chatwin, the American live action Sangoku, beome the British Superman of New york in Doctor Who was a great destiny for this lil dude, this episodés got soul, cherished honestly)
But even the lows cannot be saved by the great moments of « rogue » showing the Shalka doctor of Richard E Grant as canon. The fugitive doctor cannot save a season.
Davies then desacralized « children in need » specials with the shameful death of the real Davros for a pathetic stereotype replacement.
So no : it was no what fans deserved. It it is like many other things , broken BECAUSE of Russell Davies & Bad Wolf. They did a bad job. Delivered horrible results for Disney considering the budget they had. Disney imagined the Day of the Doctor & Time of the Doctor level productions to come out of that deal…. They got Abzorbalof & Slitheen level 80% of the time
Ncuti deserved so much more.
Russell Davies & Bad wolf suffered SELF-inflicted wounds. Period. Sub-par scipt, prepod, bad direction by Davies. Guests did great more often!

How screaming jay Hawkins, fats domino, king curtid, chuck berty started it, Little richard pushed it to the beatles who made the music take over the world. Black sabbath finished the job to push metal into the forefront. But check why the savage rock and this country rock or Little Richard Penniman mattered. From « good golly miss molly » to « tutti frutti » to this county rock gem!
