We're making a mystery game where the puzzles are part of uncovering the story
We've been experimenting with something we really enjoy in puzzle games: making the puzzles feel like they're actually part of the world and the story, rather than just challenges placed between narrative scenes.
We're Tortita Studio, a small indie studio from Spain, and we're currently making our third game, The Attic: A Mystery Puzzle Game. You explore your brother's old attic after he leaves for university, finding and repairing objects he left behind — old cassette tapes, cameras, game cartridges and other forgotten things. As you interact with these objects and solve the puzzles surrounding them, you gradually uncover clues about what happened to him.
We're trying to combine the feeling of classic adventure games with more self-contained puzzles and a narrative mystery, while keeping the puzzles connected to the objects and story whenever possible.
