Advice about my husbands broken / not broken hand

My husband 45M, 200lbs, smoker, 6’1, is a recovering alcoholic. Hasn’t had a drink in years. (so proud of him!!) but when he was drinking, he would have a temper. He has punched a couple brick walls in his day. One of the last times he did it, he broke his hand, the bone under his pinky finger. Never went to the dr. Again, this was years ago. It healed itself and dumbass did the same thing to it.

Now. There’s this big lump where it was broken (I’m guessing it fused itself back together after all this time) it still hurts at times and it’s not a daily issue but he doesn’t have the same usage of his hand he used to.

I think he should go to the dr and see if they can re-break it so they can fix it the correct way and maybe that could help? After all these years tho (13 plus yrs) would it really make a difference or have any point to it? Or possibly make it worse? Basically, what I’m asking is if he should just let it be, or is it worth having it looked at? The bump on his hand is pretty big, u can def tell it’s there without having to compare the other hand or look hard at all. He has pain issues, tho it’s not everyday.

Not as much of a confession but more of a “that was really fkn stupid” moment that I don’t normally share with ppl…

I’m at work. Long ass shift mind you. It’s FINALLY time to go home. I’m wanting to get the hell outta there cuz when I tried to leave an hour n half before that we got slammed with a rush n I stayed to help, so I was trying to make sure I got out before that happened again.

I grab my keys, my coat, my purse and head out the door. Everything seems fine, Normal, until I get home. Five or so min after I walk in the door I get a call from someone at work. Right away I think “crap, now what?! (I was the GM so anytime I got a call it was almost always something bad lol) it’s one of my employees asking if I had my coat…. I said “ya…” thinking what stupid thing to call me about lol. He’s like “u suuure” I say “ya, I’m looking right at it “

He tells me my coat is there but he can’t find his coat. I go look at “my” coat and realize it’s pretty big, I look in the pockets and besides my keys, nothing in there is mine🤦🏻‍♀️ what I could never figure out is how I didn’t notice the coat I was wearing was two or three sizes too big for me!??! The only thing I could come up with is sometimes I’d wear my husbands cuz it was warmer so it didn’t even cross my mind when I put on my employees coat.

Having to bring that back to the store so he had something warm to wear home was so beyond embarrassing lmao in my defense tho… they were both the same color🤷🏻‍♀️

Getting my first set of alcohol markers!

After seeing some amazing work, I bought some alcohol markers. Can I get any tips? I’m used to coloring with colored pencils, gel pens and water based markers

This made my day

I have now semi regular customers. A older married couple. They used to come in about every three days or so. Now, not nearly as often. The passed year or so I’ve seen them maybe 3 times. They just don’t get out as often as they used to and I think they don’t have the money to spend like that

They used to bring me the most amazing homemade banana bread! Every couple months or so. They are so thoughtful.

Anyway, today they come in and the first thing outta their mouth was “HAPPY EARLY BDAY!” ❤️ (my bday is tomorrow ) they said they know they are a day early but wanted to make sure they got to come and tell me happy bday. I don’t even remember telling them when my bday was! Lol. But, it just felt amazing, to have these ppl who only know me from my job, actually made a point to not just remember my bday but made sure they came in to tell me happy bday. I don’t even celebrate my bday any more but it was just the warmest feeling ever.

Moral of the story : small gestures/words really can make a difference in someone’s day/life. Just to see they cared enuf made me feel awesome! Im gunna make it a point to make sure I make someone feel this way every day I possibly can

So stupid, I know but…..

How cool would it be to have places for parents (or anyone really ) can go and get good, uninterrupted sleep!!

U go, pay whatever fee. Than they have a bunch of rooms with beds. You can choose the temp of the room, maybe some scented oils, white noise machines if it’s wanted, or music, etc… than get like a two hour nap. Maybe have a daycare for an extra fee? Cheaper than a hotel and could give parents a nice break for a bit! U could sleep, or just relax and read a book or scroll on ur phone. Esp when my kids were little, I feel like this would have been a dream lol. They could sell gift cards and that would be a great gift for moms/dads. Lol. It’s random but I’m exhausted lately and this just popped in my head lol

New challenge

So, my husband and I both love to color. We wanted to kick it up a notch tho, so we are going to start once a week picking our own coloring page and than the other (without looking at what picture we choose) will pick a certain number (I was thinking 6 or 8) of markers or colored pencils we can use and we have to stick to just those colors. It’ll be interesting how it turns out. What other fun challenges can we do?

Had such an odd dream and can’t make sense of it…

Ever seen the movie “Not without my daughter “ (I myself haven’t seen it since I was a kid, I’m now 36)

In my dream, I was going thru the motions of the movie. Trying to save “my” kids from being in this other country where men were trying to keep us. But, the kids weren’t my actual kids, not the ones I have in real life.

I remember in the dream I kept thinking how things happened in the movie and kept telling myself that was what would happen next to us. Like I knew we were going thru the motions of the movie but it was so incredibly scary. I’m not sure how much of this makes sense, but I was curious what other ppl think about it. Why would I have a dream like this? Why were my kids not my actual real life kids in the dream? Why would i dream about a movie I haven’t seen in over two decades?!? Such a random thing for me to dream about but damn did it feel so real and terrifying!

Do you think BK’s mom believes 1000% that he’s innocent?

Sorry if it’s already been discussed, but I’m curious what his mom and sister really, truly believe. Do they both believe he’s innocent and blinded by love? Or maybe they are just saying they believe him because they feel they have to but deep down they believe he did it? She strikes me as the “my baby can do no wrong” type of mom, but his sister on the other hand might not be in that fog. What do u guys think?

Not adoption, but I have a question about temp custody

Hi! So, I have 3 kids I parent. My boys are 9 and 13 yrs old and my daughter is 15 going on 16 early sept. We got royally screwed by our last landlord after renting from him for 5 yrs. We are now in a shelter. My daughter decided to stay with a friend’s mom instead of coming with to the shelter. We still send money for food n what she needs of course, to her.

She called me this morning because friends mom brought up getting temp custody. Now keep in mind, we are hoping to have a new place to live in a month max. But with school coming up and things and I work so much (50 plus hours a week) so scheduling Dr visits n things get a lil hard. The mom wants temp custody to help with things like that, but, is it really a good idea? Can this backfire? I want to do what’s best for my daughter but I really don’t know what that is in this case.

Could there be any way she gets partial custody? So she can bring her to the dr n help get her her IEP at school (these are the things my daughter listed when telling me why they want to do this) but we still have actual custody? Could there be legal agreements in place with a contract maybe? Idk, I don’t want to shut it down because i promised her I’d think about it but I’m really uneasy too. Esp if we get a place in the next couple weeks here, which than she would move back in with us. Idk, any thoughts?

Grown man gets restraining order on teenage girl because she won’t lie

The title is messy, this might be long so bare with me!

My daughter (15 yrs old) was dating this boy a few months older than her for about 9 or 10 months all together. (They broke up about 3 weeks ago)

She was at his house and his dad had been drinking. Something very minor happened, can’t remember exactly what but it sent the dad into a rage and he started beating my daughter’s bf. She was there for the whole thing. They called his mom immediately and got out of there.

Mom called the police. But before they got to talk to my daughter, the dad ‘apologized’ to the kid (let’s call daughters bf “R”) R obviously loves his dad and choose to forgive him. His mom’s house isn’t a healthy environment either and he wanted to live with his dad more, even after the incident.

The police talked to me first and asked what my daughter all told me, I told them everything. Cops eventually go talk to my daughter and she didn’t want to say anything because now a CPS case is open and she knew her bf didn’t want to live away from dad. She ended up telling them the bare minimum of what she could. Dad flips out n says he never wants to see her again (he’s a grown adult who is guilty of abuse and he is mad that a teenage girl wouldn’t flat out lie to the police for him?!!?)

R decided to hit my daughter during an argument so she broke up with him. Now dad wants a fkn restraining order on HER!!! There is a court case for his child abuse case that both her n I have to testify at and she’s terrified to be in the same room as the dad

I’m just mad cuz before the breakup, she tried apologizing to the dad (wen she didn’t even do anything wrong at all) and we were buying basic necessities for R cuz he couldn’t live with dad, moms house wasn’t suitable so he was staying with a family friend and both parents got too caught up in their lives to care about buying him things like food, socks, toothpaste, etc so we started buying those things. And the dad just couldn’t accept that my daughter wasn’t guilty of doing anything but telling the bare min of the truth she could get away with without getting him into more trouble. I’m just mad that he can’t see his own fault and what he put my daughter thru in the first place having to witness that and than get mad at her because she had to answer the questions the police asked her… he’s acting like SHE is the reason he’s in trouble and he didn’t do anything wrong…..

I’m just pissed at him, at the fact that he thinks he has ANY RIGHTS to a restraining order on her when she hasn’t been in contact with him for months and that she has to see him at the trial. 🤬 sorry if this is all over the place… any questions feel free to ask

60 plus hour weeks, no days off in months

I’m soooo excited! This is my first (official) day off in a few months! I have been working 12 plus hours days, 7 days a week for almost 4 months straight. To say I’m burnt out is an understatement.

It’s not even 7am and I already went out for coffee n took my family out to breakfast at our favorite restaurant and now we are on to our next adventure (haven’t decided what but I def am spending the whole day together!)

I have been sooooo burnt out, I miss my family so much and I just can’t express how excited I am for today lol. After a couple fun things this morning, I’ll be spending the second half of the day (still all of us together) relaxing and just enjoying life. My ringer is off. I won’t be answering for anyone, sorry , ik it’s random n no one else really cares but I had to get it out there lol. If u actually read this, thank you❤️

Did I make the right decision?

Not sure if i posted here or in another sub about my job. So im gunna start by giving background story first

I started working at my restaurant 8 / 9 years ago, started at the very bottom with zero experience, getting paid $9/hr.

I worked my ass off and got promoted a few times and than 3/4 years ago I was given the role of GM of the store. I could FINALLY make a real difference and turn this place around. It was ran so poorly for so long. The GMs before me just didn’t care. I was def noticed for the difference I made , esp during that first year!

The last 4 months have been rough. For a few reasons, I have been working 7 days a week (I did have a couple days that were only like 4 hours but it’s still not a day off) most days were ten plus hours. I told my boss I was getting burnt out. Over the years, my boss has borrowed many shift leads from my store to give to other stores because they were short staffed. I was happy to do that! But, not once did she try to get me help in these few months working non stop. My dad died, still didn’t get time off!

I came to the conclusion that I don’t get the same kind of help other stores have gotten because she knows I’ll be here no matter what. She knows I’ll show up no matter how burnt out I may be. So, I made the choice to step down and be just an assistant GM. Feeling like that was the only way she would get me help.

I hate that I had to do this. I put so much into this store…. And this morning I got the best compliment. I was at the grocery store n a lady who works there came up to me n said for years she refused to go eat at that location even tho it was right across the street from her job because it was always cold, order was wrong, or something. She said a year or so ago her son told her how much better it’s been. So she decided to give it another chance and since than she comes every single week. She raced about how amazing it is compared to few years ago. That made me so happy, but also made me feel like maybe I made the wrong choice.

But, in all honesty, I feel like if I kept going like I was, I was gunna snap and just walk out midshift one day. I’ve never left a job with notice, and I can’t afford to just snap n be without a job. But it’s just so unfair that I felt this was my only choice. Working so hard to make this place better just to hand it over to someone else 😭 should i have touched it out? Did I overreact? Anyone who has ever been in a similar situation, how did u handle it? I hate feeling like I made the wrong choice….

I dont know them but they think they are my husband?!!?

This was a few months ago, I don’t remember exactly how it started or how my name even came up, but here’s the story….

I used this cab company almost daily for a long time.a driver who I knew from before, started a couple months before this took place. So, I guess he’s giving a ride to this one guy and like I said, no clue how my name came up, but he claims to be my husband, even knows where I live!!!! This was all confirmed by the owner of the company.

They described this guy to me, told me the area he lives in (not exact address) and i absolutely have NO IDEA who it could be, but it really freaked me out that this guy knew where I lived n is claiming to be my husband… when I’m married to my ACTUAL husband 🫣😂

Just wanted to share a pic of Brutus, I miss him so much

This is Brutus. He’s currently staying with my MIL until we find a new apartment. He is the sweetest, happiest pup ever! Super protective of myself, my husband and our kids. He loves his family more than anything. We got to visit him the other day and it felt so good to have him in my arms! Can’t wait until we are all back together!!

How do you deal with a boss who isn’t treating you fairly

First, let me say I can’t stand the word ‘fair’. One thing I’m always saying is life isn’t/cant always be fair, it’s just how it is. But, I don’t believe this applies in my current situation. When I say fair… it’s more like I can’t win. Not long ago, I was her star employee. I was running this store amazing. But, I’m working 7 days a week for weeks now. I’ve dealt with loss of a parent, I had gotten sick with kidney stones, pneumonia and bronchitis (not all at the same time) and just burnt the hell out. All of this is known to her. My numbers are falling, I know I gotta fix them. I know no matter what they are my sole responsibility. I get it! But, I feel like I’m doing everything I can and it’s still not enuf. I worked thru all those situations I just listed. Even tho I shouldn’t have.

Let me give an example to my fair statement. Few months ago I offered to start training one of my crew members into a shift lead position. Not long after that he started calling in once a week. On the busiest day of the week. One time he called n said he didn’t have a ride, ik it was bs so I said I’ll get him an uber. 15 min later he texted me saying he lied about the ride situation and he didn’t want to come in cuz his leg hurt😒

So, I put the brakes on promoting him cuz I was sure if I continued , my boss would look at me and tell me how stupid it was to promote someone who wasn’t reliable, which is true.

The other day I got in trouble for not having done any more training with him. I couldn’t believe it, she knows he hasn’t been reliable and that I was about to even fire him. This was not news to her. Yes, I desperately need at least one more shift lead. But, she’s also told me not to hire or promote out of desperation. But this situation she is telling me the opposite “if u never take chances on ppl …. Blah blah blah” I wanted to scream.

There was one day, a piece of equipment went down. I spent time cleaning it and doing whatever I could to get it up n running which took some time. Maybe an hour? After all that I called so she could tell me what to do next or call maintenance. When she asked if I did A B C n I said ya, she asked how did I have time to do all those things already. I said, well it went down about an hour ago. She yells at me for not telling her right away (but I promise she would have been mad if I told her right away n it was an easy fix) about a week later, same thing happened so I called right away, guess what? She got pissed cuz I called before troubleshooting!! I’m damned if I do damned if I don’t….

It sucks, I love my job. I’m GOOD at it. But I’m burnt out, have zero support, zero work life balance (4 or 5 days out of the 7 I’m working , im working a 6am to 4 or 5pm shift than leaving n comin back at 8/9pm til 1030 or 11pm just to come back at 6 am the next day) but, even with all that I started looking for a new job. But, damn near every day, or at least every day I talk to her, I get soooo close to walking out. I don’t leave without two weeks notice, i don’t just walk off jobs. Plus, I can’t afford to. We lost our house and living in a shelter with my husband n kids. I can’t just quit.

I’ve expressed how burnt out I am. But it gets me no where. Can’t just leave n say screw this since I have my family to support. I can’t see light at the end of the tunnel since I don’t know how long it’ll take to find a new job. How do I survive without having a mental breakdown? Without snapping n walking out. How do I keep just a little sanity until I get something better???

This is half on half off topic, but I would like to talk about budgets!!

These days, it feels like we need two incomes in order to live comfortably. My husband and I always knew one parent would stay home. First few years it was me, now it’s him. Mostly because years of factory work screwed up his back/body badly and he can’t really work. My job is 48 hours a week min, this passed week I did 69 hours. So, I don’t make enough to say it equals any were near 2 incomes but, that OT helps balance it a bit. I make $19.23/hr. Living in WI. Not a horrible wage. But, I’m still scraping Pennies few days before payday !! I don’t get paid weekly or bi weekly, I get paid twice a month which makes it kinda tough. But I still feel like I should be able to get from one pay check to the next some what comfortably.

So, here’s my question to u moms. I have 3 kids for reference. How do u all plan ur expenses? What types of budgeting tools do you use? Right now, starting this payday, my husband and i decided every night we will go over what we need to buy in the next 24 hours, any bills that need to get paid, etc… than make a daily budget. Than the nxt night, sit down, look at everything we did that day and see how close we made it to sticking to that budget. If we go over, we make it so the nxt day we use that much less to balance. Before payday, do the same kinda deal but in bulk. With bills n things. How do you guys do it? How do u stick to it? Any tips ??? I’m soooo sick of being broke before payday when I really shouldn’t be. lol.
