How about no

How about no

They keep bugging me with this notification. I’m not interested. I will never turn on cash orders, they seem like a nightmare to deal with.

Mon-Wed part time jobs?

New to Denver and looking for a part time job that’s Mon-Wed, the occasional other day thrown in is fine. I’m looking for this specifically because I have a seasonal gig from Jan-May and I’m committed to lots of Thurs-Sun days during that time. My background is in human services but I’m looking to get out of that field, so I’m open to any and all suggestions.

She ordered one chicken sandwich and that’s it

I wonder if she meant to tip $2.40? I’ll take it though!

Whoever decided that contactless deliveries need a delivery code should be fired into the sun

The customers don’t respond half the time which leaves me awkwardly standing outside for 3 minutes. Shouldn’t contact-free actually mean CONTACT-FREE? None of the other apps make us do this. Why does GH insist on pushing this nonsense when customers and drivers both hate it?

YouTube now has half screen ads popping up while the video is playing

This was a 5 minute video and it happened twice. There were also ads at the beginning and end of the video.

Slow restaurants are the bane of my existence

Just got a decent looking stack. $14 for 6 miles dropping me in a good spot.

First restaurant took like 7-8 minutes or so to make the order but it was a decent sized order so I get it.

I’m waiting for the second order now and I have been waiting for 15 minutes. I don’t want to unassign because it’s the shorter distance order in the stack and I know half the tip is coming from that since I declined the other order as a single.

So what was going to be $14 in half an hour or less has turned into a pretty bad order. All because these restaurants don’t have their shit together. It feels like my shift gets derailed every time this BS happens because I try so hard to maintain a good hourly rate only for the restaurants to mess it up.

Would you accept either of these?

Just got these back to back and declined both. Only heavy item in the first one is a 35 pack of water, the rest of the items were mostly small. The second one has a crap ton of cat food cans which is where the excessive units come from.

How much $$ would you need to do this order?

Retail pickup, no shopping required, 6 miles. It was paired with one other order which was a shop for one non heavy item at the same store.

This order is just straight up evil

Yeah let me shop for 94 units for one penny. Absolutely ridiculous!

u/mitchdwx — 11 days ago

Probably shouldn’t have done this one 😅

This is close to the max weight my car can hold. I should have just canceled when I saw the items but I was like “ehhh why not?” Yeah, not doing anything like this again unless it’s over $50 and very low miles. The $35 this order paid was not enough even though I got it done in an hour and 15 minutes.

Ever pick up an order and immediately regret accepting it when you see where it’s going?

Had this one today. $28 for 9 miles (mostly highway) to shop for 24 items at Aldi. I accepted without zooming in on the map, but the area is mostly just houses so I assumed it was going to a house.

Turns out it was actually going to the one apartment complex in the area, and I didn’t know until I had already shopped and checked out. This is one of the worst apartment complexes to deliver to since there are no elevators and parking is nowhere near the building entrance. It took me almost 15 minutes just to take this order up to this guy’s third floor apartment and drop it off. When I finished I was completely drenched in sweat.

Still made $28 in a little less than an hour (will probably go down to $27 because of a refunded item) but I didn’t expect that it would require a full workout.

I’ve been sitting in a parking lot for 30 minutes declining garbage

Best offer I saw since my last dropoff was a $12 stack for 4 miles to shop for 1 item (12 units though) at Giant and pick up from a local pizza place. I declined because I thought meh, I can get something better. Well, that hasn’t happened. It’s been a steady stream of trash on all the apps.

It’s pretty rare that a Friday night is this bad around here. Usually I don’t have to wait more than 5-10 minutes to cherry pick something good during dinner. I didn’t want to work tomorrow afternoon before my evening plans but it looks like I might have to if tonight keeps being terrible.

Denver dashers - questions for you

Moving to Denver in 3 weeks and I would like to know a few things about the area. I have an additional 1099 gig in addition to driving in case it’s a horrible place for gig work. Not going to ask about where the best zones/hotspots are because I know people don’t want to give those away, I plan on finding that out myself. I do have some questions about how things work there, though.

  1. Are you guys on the new dasher rewards point system or the old one where you need a 70% AR for platinum?

  2. In my current market shopping orders are a huge money maker while food orders are very inconsistent. Can I expect the same thing in Denver?

  3. Besides for downtown Denver, which areas should I be avoiding because of a lack of parking and/or confusing high rise apartments?

  4. If you’re on other apps, are Uber Eats, Grubhub, Instacart, and Shipt any good in the Denver metro?

  5. What’s the #1 thing I should know as someone new to this area?

Appreciate any answers and advice!

Moving is so much easier without kids

I’m moving across the country next month. PA to CO. I’ll be doing it solo and I’ve been thinking about how awful it would be to move with a kid or kids.

First off you have to consider school districts in your decision to buy or rent a place. For me it doesn’t matter at all since I’ll never be using the schools.

You have to deal with your kids leaving their friends and finding new friends. Hopefully they become friends with kids who aren’t bratty or have horrible parents. As someone moving alone, the only social life I have to worry about is mine.

The move itself would be horrible. Kids asking to use the bathroom or get McDonald’s at every other exit. I’m the kind of person who can bang out long drives with very few breaks, I’d hate to have the drive interrupted more than it should be.

And then there’s moving all the kids’ stuff into the new place. I have maybe 5 heavy, bulky things in my apartment. With kids that number grows exponentially.

I don’t know how parents do it. Being stuck in a car with whiny, impatient kids for 3 days would break me. Instead I’ll be alone listening to all my music, and once I arrive in CO I’ll be able to settle in at my own pace. It’s a little stressful because it’s such a big transition, but it’s far more exciting than anything else. I couldn’t say the same if I had to drag tiny humans with me.
