Anyone take trace minerals?

Mainly zinc, copper, boron, selenium?

Did it trigger you? Did you experience any waves? Any side effects? Could your body handle it?

Thank you! 🙏

Clinic sent out an order for 500mg Monoferric as opposed to 1000mg for an IV, am I overreacting?

I got my first iron infusion in Oct of 2025 last year and my levels were hemoglobin 100 and ferritin of 7.

After the infusion hemoglobin jumped to 139 and ferritin 155.

Currently my levels are hemoglobin 144 and ferritin of 65.

Current symptoms that came back after being symptom free:

Weakness, fatigue, muscle pain, shortness of breath, migraines, neurological issues, mood swings.

I’ve spoken to a nurse from the clinic and she said due to my weight and my ferritin being at 65 as opposed to 7 as last time an infusion of 500mg of monoferric is more appropriate than 1000mg. I have reached out to the clinical director as we have a great working relationship to advocate for 1000mg of monoferric instead and my reasoning being that it might last longer and due to the fact that I had such a life-changing experience with 1000mg. We also scheduled a vitamin d injection which I will be getting both at the same time.

Am I overreacting here? Am I wrong to advocate for 1000mg of Monoferric instead of the 500? I have experienced no side effects from the 1000mg.

Either way I’m really excited to get my infusion this Sat!

Thoughts appreciated!
Thank you! 🙏

UPDATE:
She just emailed me and let me make a decision. She said that my ferritin will most likely jump to 300 with the 1000mg which she still considers safe. If anyone has taken monoferric, what dosage would you choose?

Went travelling for the first time without symptoms…

I went travelling for the first time without any symptoms yesterday. This is such a great milestone for me.

While I have travelled many times during the acute withdrawals, once to the Caribbean and once to other cities in my country, I was in so much chronic pain and experiencing extreme severe symptoms, it was highly dangerous. I also got a driving job during my withdrawals that was basically all travelling, but I had to quit due to extreme neurological symptoms and seizures.

I did about 800km by car and had a blast. I was highly anxious as it was my first time being around crowded places and so many people, but that went away once I treated myself to a nice lunch at a restaurant. Anxiety was gone after that.

I came prepared with a crisis plan as travelling after benzos would trigger me into severe symptoms, flashbacks, ptsd, seizures, but none of that happened on my trip.

I did experience positive flashbacks that reminded me of the person I used to be before the Benzos. This inspired me and gave me motivation that I finally have my life back and can do all the things I want to do. It also triggered a lot of anger that they could do this to an innocent, healthy, and vulnerable person who simply was going through severe grief after losing a loved one. I’ve never in my life ever have been this sick. By they, I mean the medical professionals that f***ed up my body and mind.

It was amazing to have my full cognition and memory back. I remembered navigational skills, where I parked my car, how to navigate streets again etc. It was also nice to socialize with strangers again. I even treated myself to shopping at various stores and spent too much money.

I grew up travelling and spent my entire life on the road. I thought I would never be able to do this again.

Wanted to spread some hope. I am 100% looking into doing extreme exposure therapy now to get back to my previous life as well as go back to my career.

I am basically 100% symptom free but still experience seizures and I haven’t been able to fully stop them from coming. I only know my triggers and how to protect myself. I’m hoping with time they will eventually go away because I cannot accept that benzos gave me some form of epilepsy. It is criminal. I did go 7 months without them though. So I’m hoping it’s just connected to a vitamin deficiency. If anyone has experienced seizures for years after quitting benzos, I would love to hear from you.

That being said I have realized that isolation is not the best recovery strategy and that socializing, being around people, and different places really helps the brain to recover and helps the cognition. It’s basically a great form of brain stimulation, at least for me. There was absolutely nothing I could do for 3.5 years and I understand how difficult it can be.

I wish you all peace and healing in your recovery. ❤️‍🩹

Lorezapam 2mg, took daily or as needed for 4 months. Valium 5mg took twice daily for 10 months. Quit CT.

Got prescribed Dexamethasone and Toradol, what to expect?

I am supposed to take both of these as needed during extreme pain.

I am aware of all the side effects and have a treatment team.

I am worried about Toradol the most because it lowers the seizure threshold but I am willing to try it and see as I wait to see a neurologist.

Anyone have any experience? My goal is to remain high-functioning during extreme pain episodes. I haven’t been able to do that lately.

Thanks!

I was given a benzo in an ambulance, I am 2 years and 5 months off a CT.

I had a medical episode that was getting worse and ended up going to the er via ambulance. I am obviously very upset but was in too much physical pain to advocate for myself. I believe it was lorazepam.

I survived a very brutal CT withdrawal from Valium 5mg twice a day for 10 months and Lorazepam 2mg everyday or as needed for 4 months. I had severe withdrawal symptoms: seizures, delirium, catatonia etc.

Will 1 pill they gave me set my progress back?

Will it trigger withdrawal symptoms?

Will I be ok?

Does anyone have any experience?

I still feel the effects of lorazepam in my body and feel slightly high. I hope it goes away.

Thank you! 🙏

Struggling to feel safe inside my home…

I survived carbon monoxide poisoning for about two years before I found out what was happening to me, I ended up in the hospital for oxygen therapy. Since then firefighters have come to my house multiple times to check for any signs and have reassured me that it’s safe. They recommended I get an air purifier, I also have working smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.

Getting the air purifier initially helped with my ptsd but over time it seems to have made everything worse.

It has three air quality settings: good, moderate, and poor and also shows me the PM reading 24/7. For the past few days it has been showing poor air quality in every room, and it doesn’t seem to improve. PM levels from 500-100.

Whenever I see high PM numbers I start feeling dizzy, have headaches, nauseous, weak, lightheaded, drunk and feel like I might pass out, can’t function, abrupt personality changes. I used to experience seizures during this but do not experience it anymore. Before an episode like this I am completely functional enjoying and loving life.

I have been working with a medical team who say I need a neurologist and I’m in the process of getting another one as my old neurologist got her license suspended.

The only time I feel safe is when every window is open, fans are running throughout the house, and the air purifier is showing good air quality.

This is not my first time surviving carbon monoxide poisoning. I survived it in my mid 20s when my car was having an exhaust leak, even after I got rid of the car, I experienced neurological symptoms for 1.5 years after exposure.

So I am wondering if this are just long-term effects of carbon monoxide exposure.

Has anyone else gone through the same? Do you feel sick with poor air quality?

I live in Canada, and we’ve had several days of wildfire smoke recently, so I’ve been telling myself that’s the reason why I don’t feel good and why the air quality is poor.

Sorry if this is not the right community for this post. I’m just at a loss and don’t know what to do anymore.

Struggling to feel safe inside my home and I can’t take it anymore…

I’ve been struggling to feel safe in my home for months. I constantly check the air purifier, ruminate about whether I’m slowly dying again, and can’t stop thinking that I’m missing something dangerous because I can’t find the source of why the air quality in my home is poor. Despite the reassurance from firefighters. I just can’t find the source of the poor air quality.

I live in Canada, and we’ve had several days of wildfire smoke recently, so I’ve been telling myself that’s the reason why I don’t feel good and why the air quality is poor.

Has anyone else had OCD latch onto a real traumatic event like this? How do you stop the constant checking, rumination, and fear when the original event was real? I feel so exhausted that I’ve even considered moving back in with my dad because I don’t know how to feel safe in my own home anymore.

I feel like throwing out my air purifier so I can stop checking it. I need advice please.

Neurologist got her license suspended, what happens now?

I found this out today after a nurse practitioner requested records from the clinic but got no response. Her license got suspended as of 27th of June 2026.

For context my neurologist has struggled with a substance use disorder and was practicing under a restricted license and received several duis. I never judged her for that. She was able to practice legally as long as she was actively pursuing treatment.

It explains to me why she never followed up with me after an in-home eeg I had. All my referrals for testing came from her.

It took me two years to make it into her office and I had to fight to get a referral and had a very supportive local hospital and medical team. No one from the medical office has reached out to me or any member of my care team. The office is not responding to calls. Her office is around 2 hrs away from me to just drive down and see. No one informed me of the next steps to take.

The clinic of my nurse practitioner is happy to make a new referral for me.

Does this mean I need to make a new referral? Is there anyway I can get in contact with the office? It takes 1-3 years of a waitlist to see a neurologist. Aren’t they required to transition care to a new neurologist?

For context I am in Canada.

Thank you!

First summer symptom free in 3.4 years…and it was worth the fight!

Quit Lorazepam 2mg CT sometime in 2023 took as needed or daily for around 4 months. Was put on Valium 5mg twice a day, daily for around 10 months after. Quit CT in mid Feb 2024.

Dreams do come true. I was dreaming of the day I could enjoy life again symptom free, where I was completely functional and I’m glad I didn’t give up. Believe me there were a million different times I wanted to quit, give up, and take myself out. Completely catatonic on the couch for majority of it and it’s all just a blur. Was experiencing SI for majority of it. Thought my life was over and my body was ruined for the rest of my life.

But I made it and I am 100% back my friends. My favourite part was getting to clean my house and do yard-work for the first time in years. Was able to take out my patio furniture and live life again. My relationship with food is completely back to normal. For many years I was terrified of eating as it only caused pain, neurological issues, hospital visits. Now I can eat anything I want and don’t have to eat several times a day anymore.

I experience peace almost daily and am calm and feel safe majority of the days. I’m thinking clearly and am free. I experience no chronic pain anymore. OCD has calmed down. Though I am diagnosed with ocd and still experience it when I don’t eat enough but this is completely unrelated to the benzos.

Wanted to give you guys some hope. My next goals are returning to my old career and travelling.

I want to thank my dietitian and energy healer because of them I was able to heal my body faster and my dietician really restored my body quickly and got rid of my hypoglycaemia and a million other symptoms. The most competent and experienced professional I have ever worked with in my life. The true hero!

I was in and out of the hospitals for 3 years, called the crisis lines a million times and developed a million coping skills. This is a positive. I was also able to work through a lifetime of PTSD and trauma thanks to the benzos as I was often in an altered state of consciousness and had access to my unconscious and subconscious mind. I was also able to heal so many deficiencies and challenges like anemia and this would have never happened without the benzos.

I’m so grateful to be here and be alive. I also experienced Carbon Monoxide poisoning during this time so it’s hard for me to separate the symptoms but I survived.

It gave me so much more empathy for people struggling with chronic health issues and allowed me to be a better advocate for people as the system can be brutal.

Timeline of events:

Summer 2023 (Actively taking benzos)

- Experienced paradoxical reaction from the benzos. Started having severe amnesia and neurological problems as well as cognitive decline, trouble speaking, confusion etc. Experienced drug-induced bipolar symptoms and cycled through mania and depression and psychosis.

Summer of 2024 (Quit CT)

- 3.5 months after I quit CT. Experienced seizures and a million symptoms. Was full-blown catatonic on the couch. Developed severe malnutrition as a result. Could not do anything or take care of my house or yard. Grass and weeds became metres high until some friends helped me.
Just laid on the couch staring completely detached from reality. Experiencing severe chronic pain

Summer of 2025 (Quit CT)

- Slightly functional, still experiencing seizures and neurological symptoms, got referral to neurologist. Still catatonic. Yard work took months but I got it done. Had to hire people. Unable to enjoy the summer. Got a job to distract myself (driving job ironically), had to quit as I was still experiencing seizures and neurological issues which made my job dangerous.

Summer of 2026 (Quit CT)

- Completely symptom free and back to normal. Seizure free. Appetite completely back to normal. No chronic pain. Yard work only took me 3 days.

Thank you for everyone for all the sweet PMs, the support, the days y’all kept me alive, the nutritional advice. I’d like to think we did it together and we were in it together. Remember to never give up and give yourself any sort of hope you can damn find! Anything! There were days I was taking it 5 min at a time.

Do hematologists care if your ferritin is low at all?

Or do they only care about hemoglobin levels for iron infusions?

Asking for people with experience.
I’m deciding whether or not it’s a waste of my time to go.

Thanks!

Severely triggered today, can’t get over my fear of smoke, feel shame for calling 911 despite being told to.

I have a bad relationship with smoke, fire, and gas. I made a lot of progress over the years but it’s something that I struggle to get over. I still burn fires, I still do fire pits.

When I was 25 my car caught on fire on the highway with me inside it. I almost burned alive but managed to pull over in time before my car exploded and melted every single item inside it. I was in such shock that a mother pulled over and dragged me away from my burning vehicle.

At the same time I experienced carbon monoxide poisoning for two years driving a vehicle. I experienced severe neurological symptoms and psychosis from that until I got rid of that car.

I experienced a severe car accident where my car was totalled that gave me a TBI but I hit my head several times in life so it probably added to it. Despite this I still love driving.

Most recently since 2023 to around sometime in 2025 I experience severe carbon monoxide poisoning in my home that left me with severe neurological symptoms again, seizures, and a million other horrible symptoms. I was basically paralyzed and disabled, confused, and felt like I was slowly dying. The only way I was able to figure it out is I had an entire fire squad with the fire chief show up. They aired out my home and got me to the hospital for oxygen therapy. Gave me brand new smoke detectors with CO detectors. I almost lost my driving license because of this and was almost diagnosed with epilepsy and still have trauma from this.

I spent the entire summer of 2025 outside of my home because I knew that my house was making me sick but I didn’t know why. I felt better staying and sleeping over at friends homes. Since then I struggled to live inside my home and get over the fear of being inside my house experiencing severe hypervigilance and symptoms. I managed to get over this fear by buying air purifiers, oscillating fans, and finally was able to get over my fear of my home and had peace for the first time in years and had my life back.

Tonight I had a good day and was outside hanging string lights on my gazebo when my entire neighbourhood street filled with white smoke and everything became hazy, my entire house and neighbours homes were covered in smoke with a burning smell. I thought nothing of it but it became worse. Ran over to a couple neighbours and they told me to call 911. An entire fire squad showed up and investigated the entire neighbourhood. Since I was the one who called they investigated my entire house and checked for carbon monoxide poisoning again. The conclusion was that someone filled a machine with too much oil and it spread across the entire neighbourhood. No source of any fire was found.

I have been filled with panic, flashbacks, hypervigilence etc., since this event and can’t calm down despite using a million coping skills. I can’t stop thinking about how I was in and out of hospitals and my previous CO poisoning experience with an entire fire squad locking me out of my home and dragging me to the hospital. I can’t stop thinking how many years I lost within the medical system trying to find the cause of my symptoms and working with a horrific family doctor who didn’t take anything seriously. Being misdiagnosed and treated inhumanly. While I know I did the right thing by calling and my neighbours are happy, I am filled with so much shame. I live in a small community and the firefighters remembered who I was and reminded me of the hospital and the previous carbon monoxide poisoning they saved me from. While they were kind and extremely supportive, it triggered my cptsd and brought back symptoms after so many months of being symptom-free.

It also brought back a lot of anger for being dismissed, not believed, treated like a delusional person by the entire mental health system when I tried to get help for the cptsd regarding this stuff. It also brought a lot of validation from the firefighters for not only saving my life but treating me like an actual human being and resolving my symptoms.

I wish I had someone to talk to, especially a professional about this and received some form of exposure therapy. I tried 20 different mh professionals and modalities, had a treatment team, and no one helped me with a lifetime of trauma not to mention help for ptsd from CO poisoning, my relationship with fire and smoke. I am not willing to spend money on any more therapy as I lost 3 years of my life trying to get help but was dismissed and treated like a crazy person. Especially when I said my house was making me sick. I lost so much money.

I made so much progress in terms of self-help where I got to a place with no symptoms but I feel like I’m back at square one. I still experience nightmares that has never gone away. I try to treat myself with some compassion but it’s hard.

I can’t calm down when I smell things burning, see smoke, constantly hear things crashing, experience paranoia sometimes when driving despite loving driving. I ask people to pull over when I smell something burning. I’m constantly checking my smoke detectors to see if they are working. I do a lot of exposure therapy on myself. I feel so much shame for calling 911 but at least I got reassurance that airing out my home worked and there are no levels of carbon monoxide in my home and that my house is safe. Also reassurance that there was no fire in my neighbourhood.

All my past trauma came flooding back too.

What to do when no therapist is willing to help you with any of this? I also have severe trauma from abuse, sa etc., that no one is willing to touch. I’ve tried group therapy and social groups.

I just need a hug and some support. 🥹🥲

Sorry for the long post.

TL;DR : Got extremely triggered today and all past trauma came flooding back.

Ferritin dropped from a 155 to 65 after 10 months. Scheduled for a second infusion…

Got my first ever iron infusion in Oct 2025 which took my ferritin from a 5 to a 155 and also fixed my low hemoglobin levels which I don’t remember the number but it was low enough to get me diagnosed with anemia.

While I am sad that my ferritin dropped to a 65 I’m grateful my body finally got all the iron it needed.

I am also grateful to my treatment team especially my nurse practitioner who is referring me to get a second infusion at my local hospital where I am 100% covered. Before I had to pay $350 at a private clinic where my medication was the only thing covered otherwise it would have been $850. I also had to drive 2 hours away.

What a journey it’s been. Having my ferritin levels and hemoglobin levels above 100 was the best experience of my life. My anxiety and depression went away for the first time in years, my adhd symptoms also, a lifetime of dissociation and dpdr went away. I accomplished a million tasks and had more hobbies than in the past several years. I woke up everyday with energy and went to bed with energy. Sometimes I had too much energy than I knew what to do with. All cognitive impairment improved. I always described it as life coming back into me from darkness and I felt joy almost every single day. I also had normal light bleeding for around 3-4 days only. I was able to really live in mindfulness and stay present almost every single day.

I’m definitely feeling some minor symptoms of having a ferritin below 100 again. I did try to eat a lot of iron during this time.

I’m excited for my second infusion which will be 1000 mg of monoferric which is what my first infusion was. It was the best thing I ever did for myself. I am still learning the relationship between iron and my body but if I have to have an iron infusion once every year for the rest of my life I am willing to do it because it felt like I was on the best drug and trip of my life, no joke. What an amazing experience and I am so grateful!

I am also scheduled for Vitamin d injections and it will be my first experience. I’m also excited to see what having no vitamin d deficiency feels like.

Wanted to share my story, progress and update!

Is it possible to have my JBL Charge 6 connect automatically to my phone every time I enter the house?

Without me having to turn it on all the time? I also have an Echo Dot that connects automatically.

Is it possible to have both speakers connected at the same time?

Thank you I’m still learning!

I’ll miss her…rescued a mouse today.

She’s been living in my house for a couple months making noise every single night but I could never catch her. Yesterday while laying on the couch she brushed against my leg with her fur and whiskers.

Today she got her mouth/teeth stuck in a towel and couldn’t break free. I carefully cut the towel off and she got the rest of the towel off herself. Gave her some food and water and let her rest for a bit. I then carried her to a location with lots of berries, shelter, and greenery, basically a forest.

I did call a wildlife rehabilitation but she was back to normal and there was no need.

I don’t know why I’m sad, but I miss her. I’ll miss the little noises at night. I’ll miss her trying to grab snacks when she thought I wasn’t looking, I’ll miss her playing with random items. I’ll miss the cuteness but she deserves freedom.

I know many people don’t like pests but I wish her the best in her new life.

Spoiled myself with this baby this summer!

I love cooking! I’m also excited that I can take it everywhere! Looking forward to so many good meals!

Also as a reward for myself for surviving alcohol and benzo withdrawals which left me with some severe amnesia and I forgot how to cook. It all came back to me though and I’m excited to cook my old recipes!
