Hi, new to these kinds of games. I still have the default gun, only just did the 3 white-tail deer objective and am now being asked to hunt moose.
The Safari Elite has a higher tier rating (7 up to tier 9) and an extra bullet in the mag compared to the Advance Shift (6 up to tier 8). The AS has extra accuracy over the Elite. Otherwise, sound and recoil stats are the same. .338 on the Shift, .375 on the Elite.
The Elite just seems better (obviously a skooch more expensive). Would I have a reason to go for the Shift instead? Is there a downside to using a higher tier rifle on lower tier animals?
I've noticed the rifle suppressors say tier 3-6 on them. Since the lower end of the Shift is 6, could I put that suppressor on it but not the Elite?
I really want to buy the Knit Universe Sweater but after taxes, delivery fee, etc. it’s over $100, and I can’t really spend that on a sweater right now.
are sales often? is one upcoming? thanks!
it just feels like a bunch of things are pointing to more stuff coming later in the update. we haven’t reached the “source planet” in the void yet. it feels like the theme wasn’t for the two enemies we got.
And if you remember the cyberstan update, it wasn’t until later that empty spaces on the key art were filled in with new enemies.
thats all to say, keep your expectations low. But i don’t think it’s a stretch to believe there’s a non-zero chance we haven’t seen the full meat of the update yet. after the bot leaks, i wouldn’t be shocked if they’re trying to clamp down on new content getting leaked.
huffs copium
edit: we also haven’t actually gotten a warbond centered around the update yet. I don’t think the Warhammer warbond was supposed to fill that role since its a crosover.
At first, I thought I’d start on an existing save. But when I thought about it, I haven’t played through a lot of Stalker 2‘s content since its initial release state. Haven’t experienced the early game with all the new updates and everything. just came back a few times on my finished game to see what the updates brought and explore a bit.
Also, I had a bunch of mods and may have partook and just a skooch of debug mode shenanigans so that I could get some weapons that I thought were cool earlier than I should have, mostly by getting to Pripyat early. I think I wanna strip down the mods and just have a couple of QoL things if anything. Experience the game fresh again.
what about yall?
Recently I’ve been on an RPG kick and decided to give HZD a chance. I haven’t followed the games even the littlest bit since their release and know absolutely nothing, just assumed they were glorified cutscene movies with some pretty open world, crafting and whatever.
decided to start on hard since I’m pretty ok at games generally and want the gameplay to engage me as much as the story. first session, played for 7 hours straight and only stopped because it’s midnight and I have to get up in a few hours for work. and even then i’m on this sub now gushing about it before I conk out. not since Metro Exodus has a game gripped me this hard right off the rip.
man alive is it fun. the dialogue and story hold my attention and i’m not skipping around like I often do with RPGs. story performances are great.
gameplay slaps ass, dude. im the type that never uses potions in case I need them later, but I am loving using every rope/trap/tool I can make use of. Because the game makes me feel like I HAVE to use them. Only just fought my first corruptor and am stoked to fight something bigger when the game lets me. and it is utterly gorgeous to boot. Im on PC and am so glad my machine can handle it.
i was looking forward to stalker 2‘s DLC and the helldivers update but those will have to wait. i literally know nothing about either of these games as i’ve basically been ignoring them, but now I’m actually glad I did because this is some good shit and I get to binge it.
I now have both games downloaded and will be playing through them both. i will now be avoiding this reddit and any videos until i’ve at least beaten both games‘ stories. see yall on the other side.
what am I supposed to do, go outside?
warbonds releasing on Wednesdays. what’s next, Bots on Hellmire?
I’ve seen the updates for Wildlands and the upcoming stuff for Breakpoint and was thinking about getting back into GR to scratch that itch again. But everywhere I look, I see people swearing up and down that single weapon carry is the best way to play, but I just don’t see why.
the couple times I tried it a while back, I remember feeling like I was handicapping myself. I’ve always liked the playstyle of picking off high prio bad guys with a sniper from a distance, and closing in with an SMG to mop up the rest. Single weapon just felt like I was gimping my effectiveness in an entire engagement range, depending on what weapon I decided to run.
is it really that much better, and I’m missing something? Or maybe just not for me?
solo player btw
edit: I should clarify. I hate running into people who take it weird too seriously when I am playing servers that are explicitly not labeled as role-play servers. I have no problem with people who like to RP in a MilSim game. But you should not expect everyone to conform to that if they are playing in a generic public server. MilSim only encourages RP, it does not enforce it. MilSim is about the mechanics of the game.
2: I’m playing these games because I enjoy the mechanics, gear, environments, gameplay possibilities. It’s perfectly possible to enjoy something for the fun of it and not want to engage with the overly serious role-play that some people try to force on you. My main issue here is the intolerance of some of these guys. Let me enjoy the game I bought in my own way, while still being an effective teammate, and you can enjoy your role-play. Just don’t force it down my throat.
————————————
I love games like Arma, Ghost Recon, Ready or Not, etc. But those communities take themselves WAYYYYY too seriously sometimes.
If you dare suggest anything that is not multicam-covered army slop, suggest anything that doesn’t perfectly fit into their tier 1 operator fantasy, suggest incorporating ideas and mechanics from other IPs, or don’t play the game/communicate in a way that isn’t LARPing real life military units, then you get shunned, kicked, banned, yelled at, etc.
doesn’t matter if you like and enjoy the game. Doesn’t matter if you’re playing the objective in a multiplayer match. Doesn’t matter if what you are doing is helping your squad win and stay alive. There’s always such a massive chunk of these communities that just take it way too seriously and you WILL adhere to THEIR fantasy.
I think games like these are cool, fun, a nice change of pace, and it is *sometimes* neat to try and immerse yourself a little in the environment and the operator fantasy, but it’s often better to not interact with their communities that much. which is especially hard when they’re multiplayer.
I really like the idea of doing some clandestine ops in a populated area, sending my squadmates up onto the rooftops and in windows while I approach some sort of checkpoint from the ground, ambushing patrols in alleyways, etc…
wildlands and breakpoint had “city” areas, but I‘m talking more along the lines of the Divisions cities. a very clearly modern, urban environment with a multi-story access, rooftops, alleyways, etc. but obviously more open world and less instance-based.
I had this idea of dropping off all your gear at a FOB/hideout except for a concealed sidearm, knife, some small equipment and essentially incorporating some AC-esque social stealth into ghost recon by letting you blend in a bit with your civvies.
thoughts?
I propose cluster or napalm. or a cluster napalm.
edit: some of you may die but its a sacrifice i’m willing to make
It's kind of ridiculous. Just now, my team held a large majority of the objectives for most of the game. 2+ flag majority on Tsuru. Got them down to about 250 tickets, we were about 750. We were pretty clearly winning. And then they got like 3 of the flags, and gained a 1-flag majority on us. We absolutely fucking hemmoraged our tickets in a matter of maybe 3-4 minutes and lost 0-120.
Even when we dropped below their ticket count, we were still bleeding 5+ tickets a second when theirs were going down maybe 1-2 a second.
It's insane that you get rewarded for playing poorly an entire match and then getting a few lucky caps at the end. It's so incredibly frustrating to do so well an entire match only to have the game give you the finger like that. Ticket drain rates should be at a FIXED rate.
if we had to choose between the two ammo types the game already has, I definitely prefer heat sink.
But it would be cool if they decided to replicate the Lasguns functionality in lore and have the helldiver keep the magazines so they can replenish their ammo over time. Thoughts?
i feel like every post I have seen about this warbond, regardless of subreddit, has had a ton of conversation talking about how lackluster it is.
I don’t know, maybe it’s just me, but I like the look of the armor. The passive looks great. We haven’t seen the stats of the weapons yet, but on the outset, they seem cool. A laser sniper, a high impact sidearm, a precision armor-penetrating flamethrower.
proxy mines are a nice switchup—a gadget with a different role instead of getting a different flavor of grenade that doesn’t beat the thermite.
Sure, there are more iconic things we could’ve gotten, but I feel like what we got is pretty cool. of course, I could be wrong and it turns out all the weapons are complete doodoo dogwater. but it definitely seems like the “fullest” legendary war bond we’ve gotten so far.
HL1 broke FPS games out of the Doom mold. HL2 revolutionized physics and graphics for the time. Alyx drastically raised the standard for VR games. What do you think the "third" entry do?
I just think that, from what little we know of the setting, it’s perfect for some creepy vibes. Whether or not it actually introduces supernatural monsters, I think that the:
-superstitious and paranoid nature of the era,
-creepy european forests,
-claustrophobic, potentially dingy nature of the cities and towns,
-potential for crazy, creepy, murdery peasants and woods dwellers
could all really lend to some creepy, paranoia filled vibes, especially if the mystery of superstitious folklore gets mixed in.
