Are my tips being withheld?
I am currently working my first ever job as a server. I apologize at the length of this post, I have never had a job where I've been tipped before and I want to explain myself as best I can. Its not going too well-the manager says I've made mistakes, but refuses to tell me what they are. Either way, I had a question about tips. I live in Alberta Canada for some extra context. I just got my first pay stub, and I'm supposed to be getting the money tomorrow. On the paper, it said I worked 15.50 hours, I'm being paid $15 per hour, so I got 232.15 for my work.
Over the time I've worked-I started April 27th, and have had seven shifts since then. Some of my hours weren't included because they were right before the cutoff date, but it will (hopefully) add up at some point. Most of the tables I've served have payed with the card machine, and the tip was electronic. Some, I've taken the tip from the bill payment at the end of the shift so it all evens out with what I have to give back to the kitchen and whatnot.
I can see on my checkout/checksum the amount of tips I get in the night. One night was maybe $68 in tips. Am I wrong to assume that things like that should be included in my final pay stub? There is no mention of tips on my pay stub anywhere. The only time I see the total amount of tips is at the end of the night when I cash out.
