Hi everyone!

My husband’s birthday is coming up, and since he is a huge retro gaming fan, I want to surprise him with something really special. He has been drooling over the Japanese SCPH-55000 GT White model for ages, and I finally found a clean one on eBay (attached image).

We live in Europe (Spain), so obviously his childhood games are all PAL region. I want to buy him the console along with an internal HDD and a FreeMcBoot card as part of the gift package so he can play his backup games directly from the hard drive using OPL.

Since I want this to be a flawless surprise, I have a couple of questions for this amazing community before I pull the trigger:

1- Can a completely stock NTSC-J Fat PS2 boot into FreeMcBoot/FreeHDBoot normally?

2- Will Open PS2 Loader (OPL) bypass the region lock entirely so he can run European PAL ISOs from the internal hard drive without issues?

3- Since we are in Spain (220V) and the console is from Japan (110V), I already know I need a step-down transformer so it doesn't blow up. Are there any reliable mini-transformers you recommend that won't look too bulky on the setup?

I really want to nail this gift! Any advice, tips, or things I should double-check before buying would be highly appreciated. Thank you so much in advance!
