Can my Apt Owner deny my Domestic Partner to join the unit as an OCCUPANT?

My unit is rent controlled. My partner is a recent university graduate, but his house burnt down in Altadena so he hasn’t had a stable place since he got back from college. I also see other occupants in the building who are unemployed spouses.

With the Domestic Partner license, even if he has no income, could his move-in be guaranteed under the law? I believe marital status is a protected class?

I’ve never missed a payment. I’m always on time. I’m just laid-off right now. We’re both looking for work.

[USA] Los Angeles, CA: Can a landlord legally refuse my request to move my Domestic Partner into my apartment? [Occupant, not Resident]

Two boyfriends wanting to become domestic partners and live together. Can my landlord say no if we get the license from the state courthouse? I’d just list him down as an occupant.

Can I legally shelter my displaced partner in Long Beach? His home burnt down in Altadena - He Graduated from UCSB and returned to nothing.

I (M27) have a boyfriend (M23) that lost everything to the Eaton Wildfire. If he wasn’t in the dorms, he would’ve lost all his clothes. Insurance still hasn’t paid out yet, and the reconstruction on the family home still hasn’t even began.

Since returning home, he’s been couch surfing, rotating sleepovers with family, and temporarily visiting me here and there while he searches for work. I asked my LL if I could move him in, and he said my BF would have to qualify via income and credit verification, neither of which he has currently.

He is firm on wanting to go the legal route, and I told him I don’t know what the best option currently is. We are aware of the Rental Aid and Transition Youth programs, but he needs a permanent residence asap.

Does anyone know what the law is for something like this?

Detective vanished 2+ years ago. Why? 🤷‍♂️

Got accused 2+ years ago, so I lawyered up back then. Got hit with a controlled call and gave nothing. Detective called my lawyer, and he gave nothing. Got warned about an upcoming DNA test, but nothing happened there either. No house visits, follow-up calls, paperwork. Zero. My lawyer even checked the DA’s office 18 months ago. Nothing got filed.

The last call I had with my attorney was 1 year ago, and he said it was a dead case and to chill out. The guy was adamant that I’d have been cuffed up by month-6 if stuff was going to go down.

Was my case just like… ghosted?

Once an EA Recruiter Agency likes you and promotes you, what’s the key to selling yourself to one of their clients?

Curious to know people who have done this through pocketbook, JR berry, Career group, and similar EA agencies and how they ultimately made it into a job opportunity?

Presenting a handout for a job interview?

I’m applying for an office that focuses on public benefits, and the team gave me a handout that’s supposed to essentially simulate an audit. It’s a bunch of bullet points with audit items and I’m really not sure what’s the best way to approach this presentation.

What should I expect from a 30-minute call with JR Berry Search Group?

They said it was to go over my resume and talk potentially about other clients I may have interest in. Is this more of an interview or more of a headhunting call?

Went to a Hiring Fair today… 🫤

And how disappointing... No hiring at all. Just an endless loop of employers at tables with QR codes saying to visit their page for opportunities. No ‘On-the-spot interviews’, as advertised, and barely any interest at tables in even taking resumes. It felt like I printed 30 resume copies and dressed-up for absolutely nothing.

Moreover, despite the flier stating a strict dress code would be enforced, most people showed up wearing whatever. When I asked about hiring timelines, most tables said 3-6+ months was the average!!! LIKE…. DO COMPANIES JUST ATTEND THESE TO PHOTO-OP FOR THEIR LINKEDIN PAGES??

I’m on month 3 of a layoff, and I’m totally stunned at how hard it is to get back into clerical work. I’ve been in government and non-profit service for years, and I can’t find anyone expediently hiring for executive assistant, project management, or admin analyst roles. It all feels totally hopeless and dehumanizing. Linkedin applications feel like a void as well… Like why even call the event a hiring fair if NOBODY hires there? 😭😭

This was at the Carson event center for a diversity hiring fair.

Will Panda Express reject me/say I’m overqualified? Former Data Analyst & Project Manager. No fast food experience.

Relocated to a new apartment for work and suddenly got laid-off. I need to make ends meet very fast. The bills are coming down hard. Currently on Unemployment insurance.

I honestly don’t have much work experience that’s not office-based or in my field. Does anyone know how I can get a part-time job here while I’m looking for work? My resume is pretty much just a straight line worth of 7 years worth of Data Analyst/Project Management experience.

Is most of the LB job market mostly just DTLB and the port?

Following a layoff, I’ve gone from a $70k salary to $21k of 6 months worth of EDD UI. It’s not good.

After nearly 200+ applications over the course of a couple months, I’ve hardly seen much in terms of higher-paying corporate roles and a handful of non-profits beyond the downtown district. And the ones that do get advertised are usually flooded online pretty quick.

Are the best hopes of finding something likely outside of Long Beach?

$22/hr for Junior consulting work… am I missing something?

I’m applying to a consulting firm in a major metro area, and one of their Junior Consultant/Associate openings is only paying $22/hr. It’s a 6‑month contract, but they apparently do convert people to full‑time afterward with a title bump and a pretty big salary increase. (70-90k)

I’m a mid career laid-off professional and graduated from uni already, so this would be severely below what I’m used to. But I do need work right now and it seems potentially like a good way to get my foot in the door with a pretty noteworthy consulting firm in my area.

Would taking a low‑pay contract like this to break into consulting be iworth it?

Should I not get my hopes up? LA County Emergency Hire Listing - Staff Confirmed receipt of my application.

During past attempts, I’ve applied to emergency job listings with LA county and usually heard nothing back on the job posting. Not even a confirmation.

This time around with applying, I’ve actually gotten confirmations they’re reviewing my application submissions. Is this a good sign?

Or is this just standard and I should chill out lol?

Can a denied medical waiver be reopened if the recruiter messed up?

Got hit with a 1‑year wait because of a short depressive episode after a breakup. No meds, no long history, nothing major.

I reached out to Army recruiting via a White House letter for clarification and found out my recruiter unfortunately never allowed me to submit supporting documents… no applicant statement, no therapy notes, no primary care doctor’s clearance. All stuff I could’ve gotten in a week. I’m not even kidding.

Now my waiver is denied and I’m stuck with a 12‑month cooldown.

Is there any formal process to request reconsideration or resubmission, or is the 1‑year wait non‑negotiable once the waiver is denied?
