[Serious] Despite efforts, I made no male bros after relocating to LA for work. Will Enlisting Army MI make a difference?

Graduated in 2021. Relocated to LA for work shortly after. All my leftover bros at this point are from college or highschool and we just chat on discord since we’re scattered across the country. Nobody came out here after graduating. And people just fade away.

I tried it all. Small talking regulars at the gym, LGBT volleyball league, meetup app, and church. Nobody sadly has really spoken my language. Most of my coworkers have been young middle-aged women, seniors, and a mix of married peeps with minimal time to spare. Maybe that’s the modern office environment. Anyway. I’m ready for a change and just wondering from bros on here what’s a good plan?

I’m eligible for Army Military Intelligence and Logistics, but most of my vet buddies said logistics probably won’t be aligned to my culture goals (Something about it being women-majority). I’m open as well to other MOS’s, but honestly - anything that can change my life up now would be an upgrade. I don’t even care about the money atp. I’ve title bumped enough and seen enough already of the office culture scene to start planning my exit.

“Str8TurnedGay” guy. I feel culturally distant from most gay guys I meet in casual settings. What to do?

I'm late 20s. Moved to LA for work several years ago. Ever since age 22, I've regularly had same-sex intercourse since I’ve been here. So I guess I'm apart of the LGBTQ community now. 🤷‍♂️

The thing is, I really feel culturally distant from 95%+ of gay men I meet here. Maybe it's an LA gay dude thing? I moved from the American South and didn’t even know what WeHo was until like a year after I got here.

To explain how bad it is… I don't have a gay accent, I don't know much about gay culture icons, I don't have much in common in terms of hobbies. I can hardly small-talk with most gay dudes. It's like I simply cohabitate in the community and that's it. I can't even talk CoD or sports without catty dudes scoffing at me like I'm crazy. Like bro, that’s what I grew up with ❓🤨(No lie, one of them even asked why I joined their sport club) 🤦‍♂️

It feels incredibly strange because Los Angeles is supposed to be one of THE MOST SOCIALLY thriving places in the world, and yet the social world here feels small. At least for the LGBTQ scene.

I don’t know what else to say really.

Reddit user shared a 92% Rejection-rate with Women on Bumble, so now he’s on gay hookup apps 🤷‍♂️ 🙃

Bi dude checking in. Is this actually common?

His results:

Total yes: 320 yes out of 3985 total = 8.03%

Total no: 3665 no out of 3985 = 91.97%

I’d normally feel bad but he almost seems to treat his new sexual outlet like he’s dumpster diving until he finds a girl to pair up with long-term. Does this happen a lot? It seems like a toxic quitters mentality.

🏳️‍🌈Can’t believe I used to admire Marty O’Donnell so much 😔

Bisexual here. Grew up worshipping Marty as a kid into adulthood. Used to see him as a genius. Feels awful he thinks people like me are an abomination.

Should have seen his fragile ego when he’s been a constant complainer ever since the Destiny days.

Can’t join Marines or Army for 7 months and I’m dreading the wait. Any advice?

My waivers for both the Army and Marines were delayed for an entire year. No joke, every day since my disapproval I’ve stalked my calendar. I just want to do something new with my life already and move on. At this point, any job I work is just a distraction and a time-killer. Even the gig I have right now I approach with that attitude.

I’m 27 and I’m not getting any younger. By the time my wait time is over for my waiver, I’ll be 28. It sucks just waiting for the next chapter to creep along.

Should I just get jacked? Become a cardio king? Enjoy my life as lax as I can before things kick off? I plan to do my 20 and then retire.

Dad has side chick. So now my mom has a side piece too. Both sides + parents messaging me with threats. What to do?

Yes they’re married. All parties (parents and side pieces) are making ultimatums about who I can and can’t talk with. One of the sides even has their own kid who ALSO hit my phone up on a burner number. My family was already pretty isolated from our extended family and this just made it 100x worse.

I’m pretty down lately with no family to talk to. I’m their only kid

military mafiosos??

so i knew organized crime families were a thing, but mafia is still around? I remember Goodfellas in the movie Henry Hill (Ray Liotta) is in the Army with the Lucchese crime family , and a lot of guys in there were gangsters, but i thought it died out. Why are specialists chosen??

Navy i saw apparently has FILIPINO mafia in their supply section which wtf how do they have mafiosos? Are the bloods and crips in there too? How do people navigate gang culture in the army? why are mobsters e4s? why isn’t the army cracking down on them?

A Line vendor activates Taser for Demo. Trips and almost zaps someone. Safety Ambassador does nothing. 🤦‍♂️

When does this stop? What’s the point of the safety team in the first place if they fkn ignore everything

Boyfriend backed into with car & disconnected exterior piping, but there’s dust and spider webs inside. Is this a emergency?

I just submitted a ticket to our maintenance department to have this looked at, but I’m just curious to know how catastrophic this blunder of his was.

Currently at work, but he’s telling me inside of the pipe there’s just dust, cob webs, and spiders. Any idea what this is used for? It’s lined around the exterior of the property. Our building is pretty old.

[Army] Reporting bullying versus physically standing your ground.

Just wondering in an environment like the military or other similar-aged people environment, what’s the best way to shutdown homophobic bullying down the fastest. I get the whole reporting homophobia through official channels approach, but I fear that isn’t enough for some people.

Shutting down Bullying

Context: Military (homophobic bullying with some of my peers)

Options: Snitch & Report Versus “Woodline” (ifykyk)

I don’t wanna look like a bitch, but I also don’t wanna ruin my career.

Trouble holding down jobs with ADHD, but good progression? Would I be ok applying for Army 35F? Or should I do a regular clearance job.

Seeking an Army Top Secret Clearance job for 35F but unsure if I should proceed.

I've never been fired, but I tend to have trouble holding down jobs. I've been laid-off, told sometimes it's not a good fit, or resigned on my own terms to avoid getting fired. However, I've managed to grow in responsibility (lol, failing upwards maybe?) throughout my carer. Would it be okay to apply for an Army 35F TS clearance job? Or should I wait for a bit?

If I apply for a TS job, but get rejected, am I also ineligible for lower level secret clearance jobs?

I currently have no clearance. If I wanted a job that requires a TS clearance, but ultimately get rejected, can I still apply for the regular secret clearance jobs that are lower levels?

Or am I just altogether totally out of luck for any clearance whatsoever after I fail to get a TS?

How do you avoid getting fired if a TS Clearance Investigator wants to speak with your civilian employer?

Let’s say you’re applying for Cyber or MI and need a TS clearance. However, you’re also employed with a civilian employer as an At-Will Employee and the investigator needs to speak with your direct supervisor. How do you avoid losing your job once your intent to enlist is exposed?

We all know it’s not legal, but getting eliminated can happen through other means as well. Can you request this from the investigator or is it a non-negotiable? I’d probably lose my job if it’s inevitable.

Would like to go 35F but may choose a different MOS if there’s no way to avoid this.

If you sign a 2-year AD Army Contract, can you reclass jobs if you don’t like your MOS?

If a soldier doesn’t care for their role after their second year of service is almost up, is he/she allowed to switch it? Or are you just indefinitely stuck whether you extend or not.

Dad is rated 100% disabled by the VA. We live in different states. Can I still enroll in language training at a local college and get full Chapter 35 benefits?

My dad is rated 100% permanently disabled by the VA. I currently live in Los Angeles and he's on the East coast. If I wanted to take some courses for language training, do we need to leave together? Or is this a national/federal thing where I can sign-up anywhere I reside?

For context, I have a rental lease for my own apartment unit currently. I'm looking to take some Spanish courses and attain a certificate at the completion of a local language program. My dad is saying his VSO told him I need to live in the same state for full benefits, but other's are telling me that's not necessarily true.

27 Year old Adult working FT. Graduated Uni in 2021. Can I take HERITAGE SPANISH courses at CSULB? 🇪🇸

I am a somewhat of a ‘No Sabo’ person and struggle often having conversations with native Spanish speakers. I grew up hearing Spanish, speaking it here and there, and can roll my tongue just fine. But fluency continues to be a problem.

I’d like to drastically improve my Spanish by taking language courses. My dad has Veteran Affairs benefits that can fully finance my classes as needed, so funding isn’t an issue.

How can I learn fast? 😭😭🤷

88N seems like a unicorn MOS. What’s the role like during active status?

In both the main army sub and the reserves, it’s somewhat of an information desert on what this job entails. The Army video on goarmy is also kinda dated.

Could anyone shed light on what people in this role usually end up doing when activated or on deployments?
