Exploring Harnischfechten at Pennsic: Be sure to check it out if you are on site!

If you get a chance to check out this group at Pennsic, they are amazing. My husband u/obxchris was able to see them in action last year. They have an incredible knowledge base and some of the COOLEST armour I've seen. Even the sounds of the hits, falls and clanks are impressive.

If you are on site already or heading to Pennsic soon, I wish you a great time this year!

Be safe and have fun! <3

Dragon Head and Tail Carving For Viking Memoria Ship To Honor The Dead (Video in Comments if Allowed) [ARTIST: CHRIS Year: 2026]

My latest project involves carving a dragon head and tail for an important memorial taking place later this summer, The Pennsic Viking Memorial Ship. Viking ships were built with carved figureheads meant to protect the crew and represent the spirit of the voyage. It was an honor to be able to contribute to this year’s ship build in a small way.

I also have a full video of the building of the Viking Memorial Ship, including an interview with the ship’s builder out soon. Please subscribe to Resist The Grind on Youtube, if you would like to see the full video when released.

Whether you’re into woodcarving, traditional craft, Viking history, memorial art, or you’re part of the SCA, this video shows the full making of these iconic carvings — tools, techniques, challenges, and the meaning behind the work. Thank you for taking time out of your day to watch my video. I truly appreciate it. -Chris

A lot of people ask how to get started in blacksmithing. I tried to cover the main things needed to set up a shop. I tried to cover as much as I can. If I forgot something let me know.

I went from simple “frying pan forge “ to gas forge, anvils other tools and safety. Will leave the link in comments if you are interested.

OBX ON A BUDGET: Inexpensive & FREE Things To Do On The Outer Banks #out...

VIDEO HERE: OBX ON A BUDGET

My husband u/obxchris and I raised our kids on the OBX and love our community. It's officially summertime and we all know that means time off from school, kids looking for things to do and visitors coming to enjoy our beautiful area.

I will try and post a couple of his videos, as I remember (I'm getting old.). These videos make good resources for families and I hope something may be helpful to you.

If you need info now on beach driving, regulations and beach fire safety, how to take the ferry to Ocracoke and many other OBX related topics, Chris has an OBX Playlist on his Youtube Resist The Grind.

Videos are just a hobby for him, to keep out of trouble. He started during Covid to have something to do. He is a therapist for his day job and will not be leaving it. Lol.
