Does anyone else feel like the ASX just gets left behind every time overseas markets have a good run

Watching Wall Street have its best quarter in six years while we're basically flat year to date is genuinely frustrating. Every time there's a global rally it feels like we get a fraction of it and every time there's a selloff we get the full thing. Is this just how it is being an Australian investor or are people actually shifting money into global ETFs because of it.

How many cards do you have open at once before it starts actually hurting your credit score?

Trying to figure out where the practical limit is for churning without it becoming a problem when I need to apply for something that actually matters. Is there a number people stick to or does it depend more on how recently you opened them.

Hoping the Maroons can actually tie the series up tonight

Absolutely bricking it for Game 2 tonight after that messy loss in Sydney for Game 1. If we do not sort out our defense it is going to be a very long night and a painful dead rubber at Suncorp next month. What are everyone's predictions for the final score?

What’s the biggest frugal myth that people keep repeating?

Personally, I think one of the biggest frugal myths is that you have to give up everything you enjoy to save money. I used to think being frugal meant constantly saying no to things, but I've found it's more about spending intentionally than cutting out every little treat. I'd rather spend money on things I genuinely use and enjoy than obsess over saving a few dollars while being miserable. What's the frugal myth you keep hearing that you don't agree with?

Is it actually worth grinding LeetCode for OCE software jobs?

I keep hearing completely different things about this. Some people make it sound like LeetCode is basically required, while others say they barely touched it and still landed roles. For people applying around OCE, did spending time on it actually pay off, or did other things end up mattering more during the process?

Wollongong just gave me one of my favourite travel experiences

I visited Wollongong for the first time recently and I’m still thinking about how different it felt from what I expected. Being that close to Sydney, I thought it would feel a bit similar, but the whole place had such a different feel to it in a really good way. What genuinely shocked me though was how kind people were. I was with my niece and we were trying to find somewhere to eat, so we asked a local lady if she knew any good spots. She gave us a few suggestions, then somehow the conversation kept going and she ended up inviting us over because she’d made something special for her kids. We sat, ate, chatted, and they even showed us around afterwards. It was one of those random experiences you never expect to have and honestly it turned into one of the best trips I’ve had.

What ended up mattering more for you in the end, projects, internships or grades?

I keep seeing different takes on this, and it’s got me thinking about what actually made the biggest difference for people getting their first role. Was it the projects you built, the internships you managed to land, or did grades still end up carrying more weight than expected when everything was said and done?

Which Beauty Loop gift did you end up actually using the most?

I’ve been reaching for the mini Dr Dennis Gross exfoliating pads way more than I expected. Ended up fitting into my routine properly and now I actually look forward to using them. The rest of the set was fine, but that one product is the only thing I’ve properly finished and would actually buy again.

Why does KFC taste 10x better at 11pm than it does at lunch?

I ordered the same box meal twice this week- once for lunch, once late night after a big one. I swear it's a completely different experience after dark. The chips hit harder, the chicken is crispier. Can't explain it scientifically but I know what I know.

Is the heavy shift toward mandatory "Explicit Instruction" killing creative learning, or is it genuinely working?

I’ve been reading a lot about various state departments doubling down on highly structured, evidence-based "Explicit Instruction" models for reading and maths, moving completely away from student-led inquiry styles. As the educators who have to deliver these rigid, heavily scaffolded lessons every day: how do you actually feel about it? Do you find that the structured repetition is successfully closing the literacy gaps for struggling students, or does it feel like you're losing the autonomy to run creative, spontaneous projects that keep kids genuinely excited about coming to school?

Has anyone successfully used WIC conciliation to turn a rejected "burnout" claim into an accepted "bullying" claim?

The AEU recently highlighted how the strict 2024 modernisation laws are causing a massive wave of mental injury rejections because stress is routinely classified as "usual or typical" for our roles. However, they noted that claims are still valid if the root cause is distinct workplace bullying or harassment. If your initial psychological claim was knocked back as standard "workload stress," did you manage to get it overturned at the Workplace Injury Commission (WIC) by providing specific diaries of management harassment? How high is the burden of proof to shift the agent's definition away from "typical stress"?

What’s something you wish you knew before starting a WorkCover claim?

I’m early in the process and already realising there’s a lot nobody explains upfront. I would appreciate any advice people wish they’d heard earlier themselves.

Does anyone actually get good value from CommBank credit card rewards?

I always see the points promotions but wonder if people genuinely benefit long term. Are the rewards decent if used properly? Or mostly marketing hype?

Is the "$0 Brokerage" offer for new accounts actually better than just sticking with Pocket?

I saw the banner in the app: if you open a CommSec Australian/International Shares account by May 31, you get 30 free trades starting in June. For the experienced investors here: is it worth moving away from the simple CommSec Pocket interface for this, or will the standard brokerage fees eat those gains the second the 6-month promo ends in November? Also, has anyone actually received their "Yello" loyalty payment for investing yet, or is the eligibility criteria still a moving target?

Can we talk about David Pocock calling out the "accountability" gap?

Pocock has been a dog with a bone on this for months, and his statement today is pretty damning. He’s basically saying Bishop acted in the "best interests of the ANU" by finally getting out of the way. It’s crazy to see a Federal Senator have to push this hard for transparency at a national university. Do you think the "voluntary undertaking" for an independent search for the next Chancellor actually happens without him and the NTEU making life hell for the Council?
