What kind of hardware is required for real time rendering in iray and how close are we to getting there?

https://reddit.com/link/1un9m1b/video/2h1zgoaaw7bh1/player

every frame you see here took my RTX 2080 13 minutes to render with the default render settings Daz gives you right out of the box. i went ahead and just played the video in reverse when it reaches the end, there were only 30 frames rendered, the rest are just the same frames played in reverse.

this would take 6.5 hours to finish this animation, for a 1 second video. Daz is great for storytelling and making something like a comic book. but animation takes too long.

What do I need 5 RTX 5090 working on different frames? or more power with a cost in the $100,000 or more?

Many PC brands to chose from, what to pick?

There is logitech, razer, HP, alienware, Corsair, steel series, red dragon, mad cats, asus, msi, acer.

i have heard alienware is overpriced, i remember comparing the specs with asus, and alienware costed more, i get some people pay for the design, but asus make some awesome looking gear too.

what i value is reliability customer support if i ever need it i don't want them giving me a hard time for a product that is not working because of a manufacturer issue, other than that i am very gentle with my electronics.

i remember looking inside best buy, so many brands I don't know where to start, are they mostly the same thing but different brand made it?

I want to make some fan made animations and renders for dead space but don't know where to find the models.

I have done one with Moira Burton from Resident Evil. I am looking to expand my collection of high-quality video game models.

Anybody know where I can find them? I was going to download ninja ripper to extract the models from the games, not sure how well it will turn out.

When I have time I am working on my fighting animations, any advice?

I am not working on it frame by frame, I am doing the first frame, then the middle frame next.

I'm just excited to see how the renders will turn out and to help give me an idea. I know I can't just put those two frames together and let the interpolation do the rest of the work because it won't look right. I usually have better luck not relying on interpolation at all and just working on each pose frame by frame especially for complex movement.

As for my choice of HDRI, not sure if the forest is a good background, I don't think those shadows from those trees will cast onto the characters.

What are PC things that will blow your mind?

I never tried OLED, got to experience ultrawide, or 1440P or any higher resolution, or gaming on anything bigger than a 27 inch screen.

Never got to try a racing wheel, or a hitbox / fight stick.

What am I missing out on. So many things to upgrade I don't know where to start.

So far I have mechanical keyboard, programmable mouse, 180hz monitor, and good speakers with a subwoofer, a surround sound headset.

The SSD prices are out of control I am trying my luck on ebay, what do i need to know?

And by trying my luck im talking about the used market, For reference I have the prices of things that are brand new, and some that are used.

$360 1TB NVMe M.2 SSD w/ Heatsink 9100 PRO PCIe 5.0 SAMSUNG

$340 Without Heatsink

$260 8TB EXTERNAL HDD Seagate

$150 1TB NVMe M.2 SSD 990 EVO PCIe 4.0 SAMSUNG

$150 4TB HDD Seagate Barracuda

$110 500GB SSD SATA PNY

$92 USED 1TB SSD 840 EVO 2.5" SATA SAMSUNG

$60 USED 2x 250GB SSD SATA III 860 EVO SAMSUNG

The 8TB external hard drive for $260 is looking really good, and this is for storing a large library of games. better than having to delete games then download them all the time.

i have been looking around the used market also for a SSD, I have PS3 emulator and it does have save states, they will take quite some time to load if on a hard drive.

Buying a external hard drive to play large games, how bad will it be?

SSD prices are crazy, and external are cheaper than a internal hard drive.

its going to be for gaming on those 100gb games, how bad is it going to be?

What CPU is needed for fast 3Delight rendering that rivals iray?

I like the style of 3Delight how it doesn't focus on realism but more of a cartoon look or video game look to it.

Right now I have a RTX 2080 Super and a i7-9700 not known for being a powerful CPU. the RTX 2080 super will always render with iray and finish faster than 3delight ever will.

what do i need? why can't 3delight just use the gpu

A free environment that took only 38 seconds to finish rendering

This was with post denoiser turned on, rest is default render settings that Daz3D gives you right out of the box. No adjustments made to environment or tone mapping. I have a RTX 2080 Super

Looks great, it was not made for Daz3D it was made for MikuMikuDance, and I am using a plug-in that allows me to load MMD models into Daz3D.

All I could say the floor could have a bit of a better texture, but the buildings look good.

Here is the model if anyone is interested. MMD Alley Stage by yoshxxmmd on DeviantArt

My challenge to you, how convincing can you make a render with a real background

This was taken without a tripod, I tried to position the camera at a 90 degree angle as best I can without any tilting. And what render settings do you need. Here is the background.

What's up with these red pixels in the render?

took almost 17 minutes to render this 1080P image with default render settings, but post denoiser turned on.

I am getting these red pixels here and there. it's in the first image not the second one

I did another one, and it rendered in 16 minutes that time but no red pixel problem. but now lately it's been doing the red pixel shenanigans more often. you need to zoom in the image to see what im talking about

Something I experienced at the mental health hospital and i don't know what to do

this was over a year ago, after i complained, when i would go to get my toothbrush i would discover what looked like dirt on it, it was very dirty and i always had the toothbrush cleaned, i was afraid to tell anyone, i just rinsed it off and later i would get sick but i got better.

i have experienced abuse from staff and threatened with being wrongfully put in a forensic psychiatric hospital if i reported what happened.

all this i can take a polygraph and pass it, but i don't know if i have any other way of proving it happened, the hospital already had been investigated for abuse and they were found in the wrong and warned, and also many patients have claimed to have been mistreated there it's not only me.

my concern is whatever was on that toothbrush if it could be affecting me now, and also my medical records are completely wrong, i have never taken a anti-psychotic medication i was never delusional, or i never heard any voices yet they put that on my record anyways, and when i wanted to leave the doctor asked if i was hearing voices, i said no and he seemed to not believe me anyway, they tried giving me anti-psychotics after i wanted to report the abuse i refused them and the doctor said he will just keep me there longer, after i said i am going to get my lawyer that is when they let me go.

after that i just moved on with my life, i am too exhausted to do anything. i went voluntarily, i just wanted medications and to go home, i wasn't there for anything that would keep me there i didn't fully understand what i was getting myself into or signing and day one i wanted to leave they weren't listening to me.

i would call my mom and she said just stay there a couple days and see if i get better then come back home.

i am too intimidated to report what happened, abuse in mental hospitals is real, retaliation against patients is also real. i believe i am going to be expected to prove everything, but if they retaliate, they won't need to prove anything at all, they will just be believed over me because they are in a position of trust and power.

I'm about to pick up a gaming PC for $700 is it a good deal?

Gaming PC with RTX 5060, 16GB Ram, 1TB NVME SSD, i5 - 14400F, 650W Power Supply

Owner claims to have owned it for 1 month, it's a Stormcraft pre-built.

I'm going to meet him inside a community center and test it there.

How to render a HDRI with your own scenes

After half an hour of searching and trying this is the method I have found.

Set aspect ratio to width 2, and height 1, render it a minimum of 2000 pixels by 1000 you can go higher but it will take much longer, enable denoiser for faster render.

make a folder to save the hdri, make a camera and set the lens distortion to spherical, go to environment map and select none, if your rendering a scene that is outside go to render settings and remove the floor if it is causing any problems such as not showing the water for an outdoor scene if you have something like that.

when you save the render save it as a still image, and save it as a bmp. then go to render settings again and in the advanced tab hit canvases, go check that and click the plus sign and it should say something like Beauty.

set up your camera, a tip is to not have any odd angles and make things look flat so 90 degree angles for example. I will temporarily set up a scene with characters to get an idea on what things will look like, then i delete the characters and render only the scene.

when you finally finish rendering it will save all the lighting data called a exr file. this is important because without it loading the characters the lighting won't be correct without it.

after the render is done you will end up with a exr file, go to environment map and select that exr file, you will notice right away things look really bright, too bright, so go to your lighting settings and play around with those lighting values and set it lower to what you find acceptable and there you go, you can now make any HDRI to help you render scenes super fast.

Am I running out of VRAM when I render at 1080P?

5736MB is being used when I render on my laptop, i have a RTX 4050 with 6141MB of dedicated video memory, i am assuming some of the VRAM is reserved for other things, and maybe I am really running out of VRAM.

The same scene can finish rendering in 4 minutes and 38 seconds on 720P, on 1080P it takes 9 minutes and 34 seconds, and for fun I tried 500 pixels by 500 pixels 1:1 Aspect ratio and it finished in a blazing fast 1 minute and 52 seconds.

So what exactly is going on, am I running out of video memory and its falling back to CPU rendering when I increase the resolution?

This is with 3 Genesis 8 Characters and a small room.

How do you find a used PC?

I tried ebay i tried offerup, people are not listing specs, and also too many overpriced items a gaming pc with a GTX 1060 for $1,000 and the market is flooded with these people.

im looking for shipping and ebay doesnt have a option to turn off listings with free local pickup ONLY.

offerup doesn't let you filter out pc specs. its been a nightmare using these platforms to find a PC.
