What are some things I can do as a very tall heavy weight southpaw whos trying to practice getting outside their opponents lead foot?

For context, im a super heavy weight, 6 foot 7 inch south paw. My issue has been landing my left hook, left cross, and right hook. I have a lot of footwork i need to practice and would like some advice on WHEN to move outside their lead foot and WHEN to start a combo when not outside their lead foot. Since most people I fight are orthodox its like a mirror if my reflection was much shorter, so slipping under a orthodox fighters jab and going outside their lead foot for the combo seems off and more risky. Id love some advice to help remedy this.

Do yall personally agree with Thorfinns choice of pacifism in that day in age? Or do yall think you would allow killing to be an option when put in certain situations?

Nowadays from a modern perspective, locking murderers up and policing is the obvious answer. But considering their day and age is it not reasonable to still kill someone? I mean logically if your goal is to just be a pacifist thats one thing but if its to keep good and kind people safe as well then in that time its almost impossible to do that by letting people go. I mean think about it from a hard-core viking perspective, if a man from a village you were gonna plunder stops you and your men from doing so without killing any of yall youd feel incredibly disrespected without a shadow of a doubt. Thats when Vikings choose to plunder while you sleep; getting dressed, caught off guard type of situations in which atp its too late for you.

Its kinda like the whole batman dilemma yk? In the DCU batmans worst flaw is his no kill rule. Like dont get me wrong what thorfinn did before was just straight up murder, but like batman if he just defended the people he cared about by killing someone i dont think thatd be a bad thing. Batmans whole flaw is that he chooses to trust in a corrupt justice system and in turn the people not only escape prison but kill more innocents right? So wouldnt it be logical if you wanted to protect your people and other villages in the process by killing off the people pillaging? Not saying he should just be some solo hunter killing all Vikings, but when someone steps to you and your people in that day in age IMO you shouldnt just let them go. Vikings were for the most part heartless, the show addresses a lot of the issues at that time in some way but a lot of the more *explicit* things werent shown and im sure you can guess what it was. Those people arent reasonable for the most part, even in the show the most reasonable of them still died for honor even when they knew it was hopeless.

Idk bout yall but imo killing atp in time was a necessary thing if you wanted to protect those you care about.

Anyone know of jobs that are ACTUALLY hiring?? I have been rejected or one of dozens of people that got an interview and still not hired for months despite my experience.

Hello yall! Early twenties male with a decent amount of experience in management/customer service for my age yet somehow havent managed to find even the most basic of jobs that require no experience lol. Last week I quite literally ran out of jobs to apply for in a 20 mile radius and still have yet to hear back about an interview from a single one of them. I remain optimistic! But the bills are catching up and im out of options so honestly im here as a last ditch effort besides the many applications ive put in 😅. Any suggestions atp are welcomed!

My fellow anime fans, who do yall think in anime had the biggest "hate-boner" for the person they hated the most?

When i say "hate-boner" I mean like who would seek out their revenge no matter what was required of them to do so. Who do yall think sacrificed the most for it? Spent the most time seeking out their revenge? Would stop at nothing no matter what to see their enemy fall? And i know theres a lot and a few come to mind for me like Guts, Thorfinn, Kurapika etc. But i want to see what yall gotta say about it and who yall think had the MOST hate towards their enemy.

Do yall think Ragnar still had some belief in Valhalla? I recently rewatched the episode he died and it had me curious.

The reason I think he might be is although he prayed and worshiped god under christian ideology, is it not possible he also had some doubt and still believed a bit in Valhalla? The episode that he dies right before be finally kicks the bucket he grabs his sword as he lies down on the ground bleeding out.. or is that more of a warriors belief kind of thing to die with your sword in hand regardless of Valhalla? I dont know too much about Norse belief etc, so any insight would help lol.

Been doing my own variations of Goggins diet and exercise that he did when he lost the 106 pounds. Im over 50 pounds down after 2 months so far. I want to change it to be more like his though for the next month and see how I like it, suggestions on what I can change?

For context, I am 23M, 6'7 height, CW 370, SW 422.

Ive been doing my own extreme diet hindering off of Goggins somewhat with a lot of activity. I go to boxing classes for 2 to 4 hours, 4 days a week. And train on my own doing calisthenics and cardio 2 days of the week, with 1 day of light cardio and shadowboxing. I eat between 800 and 1000 calories a day, and every weekend on Sunday (my rest day) I eat around 2000.

BUT i have a goal, even though Its considered unrealistic to lose as much as Goggins did by my 3 month mark, I want to lose as much weight as possibly by the time I hit 3 months in total. Knowing goggin did 106 in 3 months is a huge motivator for me to go as hard as possible this month regardless of the results. So I plan to train harder, have no extra calories on Sundays, and up my supplement/vitamin intake (because genuinely im terrible at getting enough of that lol.)

So what would yall suggest under these parameters to get the most out of this month? I was thinking of eating only 800 to 1000 calories daily, continue the 2 to 4 hour boxing classes that are 4 days a week, sticking to the extra cardio and calisthenics but upping the amount of it I do on my off days and adding some supplements/vitamins. BUT I want yalls suggestions on what yall believe is best for this situation and if theres things I can change for the better! Thank you guys in advance.

Why am I nervous for a hypothetical spar with someone my size?

Ive sparred a few times now with smaller weight classes, and as a tall super heavyweight ive yet to actually spar anyone close to my weight yet. I know im still new, but the idea of whomever this hypothetical person is whenever I DO fight someone my size, im nervous for. Does that make sense? Like everytime I think "i really need to fight someone my weight class to get a feel for it" I get nervous at the idea of it and it makes me need to train harder and more diligently. Not that its a bad thing to want to train harder, but i dont like the idea of being nervous for something that isnt even apart of my reality yet. Especially because if im willing to be okay sparring smaller weight classes I should feel the same about my own right? Idk, its just bothersome and if nothing else I just wanted to vent about this feeling to some people that might understand lol.

Can someone tell me all the things Ippo did to strength his toes and get used to pivoting?

I recall ippo doing a tennis ball thing and something on the beach but have zero clue what it was. Anyone know? Im trying to work on the same thing he did which was basically following his opponent and cutting him off.

Why does it seen like every heavy weight has a really cool name for a fighter?

YES i know some i mentioned arent heavy weights, i just figured id mention them because i thought they were unique.

For some reason every boxers name SOUNDS like someone that has hands to me, idk if thats just because of me hearing them associated with boxing growing up but like when you look at these names do you not think "wow what a cool name for someone who fights." Mike tyson? George Foreman? Tyson Fury? Deontay Wilder? Joe Frazier? Floyd Mayweather? Manny Pacquiao? Evander Holyfield? Even Frank Bruno has a nice ring to it when you say it out loud lol. (No that wasnt a diss at Bruno, love that mf. Just saying the name Frank isnt typically associated with cool and rather bland) is that just me or does anyone else thing so..

Also btw theres no way in hell Deontay Wilders name wasnt fate its actually insane the name he got and the life he ended up living lol. Same with Floyd and Holyfield. Its like they were born to have names for the ring 😂.

My coach says I need to be relaxed at all times in a fight both physically and mentally. I sometimes have a moment of being "in the zone" I call it, but how do I do that while remaining aggressive? Isnt the point of being in the zone to keep your muscles relaxed??

Boxers of reddit, what was your "i want to quit" point and what got you past it?

For context im 23M, 6'7" in height, CW 375, SW 422.

Ive been trying to get back into fighting shape and lost 47 pounds in less than 2 months. Ive been boxing and training to be a fighter, but i can honestly say this has been an uphill battle and im loving every bit of my progress lol. BUT the running and jumping portions have been the hardest for me (for obvious reasons.) Throughout this whole experience ive been working out/boxing 4 to 5 days a week for 2 to 4 hours each day, and my stamina is far from where it needs to be.

I know itll take time, but the other day I had one of the hardest cardio workouts and for a moment of that workout I quit on myself. After that I was pissed at myself. All this training and am still the first person to be gassed everytime, and on top of that had a moment of trying to make it easier on myself. And dont get me wrong im going to keep going and do better, but this made me curious what yalls experiences are when it comes to this kind of thing.

What are all the styles of a "well groomed" beard?

Trying to work for a business casual job, and id like to know what is considered a good beard for that setting. Mines relatively short and curly, a bit patchy too.

[Discussion] im trying to reach a weight goal in a short period but have been struggling with it off and on in the last week or 2, any advice for my current mental block?

For context im a 23M, 6'7" tall with a SW of 422, CW 380. Yes I am being supervised by a couple doctors throughout this experience.

In about 8 days itll be 2 months since I started dieting. So far ive lost about 42 pounds and thats great but for the past week or so ive hit a mental plateau. Kinda eating bad for a couple days (no where near as bad but far from good) then go back to a few days of eating borderline nothing. Mentally ive hit this roller coaster and I dont want to slow down, but i feel as if I need a mental reset to get me back into what I was doing. YES I know how im doing it isnt healthy. This isnt forever, just something im doing before a vacation day and was hoping to be around 360 by then. If i want to reach 360 by then I need to start losing the weight again in the next few days or sooner.

Basically I just want some ideas how I can get past this mental block and get back to it and some encouragement would be great appreciated.

Could incorporating George Foremans arms out stance be good in modern day?

Im a 6'7" heavy weight. Ive always love george foreman power and because i have a lot of power too i thought maybe using that reaching stance would be a decent incorporation for fighting other heavy weights. As someone my height being heavy weight feels more natural so I can move a lot more swiftly at my height and weight. I thought with my power as well id be able to try that out with enough practice.

Good ways for a tall guy to dodge?

I am 6'7" and have a lot of reach. But I feel like ducking forward is bad for me considering it basically means I gotta get lower than they are punching. I can do slips and switch to a philly shell, bob my head back etc. But the whole moving under and around punches when moving forward seems like it could be like going into a punch for me.

My lower back right above my left butt cheek hurts.

I heard it could be the sciatic nerve or something but everyone says different things like roll it out and stretch, dont roll it out or stretch itll cause inflammation, dont sit itll make it worse. Ive had this issue for a few weeks now I think, it aches and feels kinda sore. Sharp pain and I can kinda feel it in my left butt cheek too right below the problem area. I cant tell if its getting worse, in my mind it's always just been annoying lol. I have a workout routine i do 4 times a week with boxing and it can be a bit of a pain sometimes but since im new i refuse to miss a single session. Idk if thats gonna make ot worse or not but these boxing sessions are too important to me so I wont be missing any of them. But anything to help alleviate and speed up the healing process would be great. After stretching it and rolling it for roughly an hour I went to training, dod light stretches after and now that area above my butt cheek is aching a little, kinda like its sore.

PC keeps doing this and I have no clue what to do. Ive already replaced the PSU and have entirely new cables.

Yes i checked all the cables, plug ins, ram sticks, replaced the old psu with a new one and it still flickers rgb lights and slightly jolts the fans. I even switched outlets to a new room to see if its a outlet issue and still no dice. No clue what to do atp.

u/Glum_Ad5522 — 2 months ago

My PC wont turn on, the fans will slightly spin for a second and the leds will slightly turn on for a second. And itll keep flashing that But wont actually turn on.

Ive tried unplugging and replugging in all cables, all power sources. I tried unplugging and reinserting the RAM sticks too.
