A cashless society is destined to starve people or force them to live in farming areas to survive.
This was my first experience in a cashless store with no cashiers. I have seen them on TV and online in high tech cities. I live in the mountains at 7500 feet.
So we flew to Seattle for a World Cup game and then went to the ferry terminal to get to the beach.
In the terminal we needed some food for our elderly Dad and 8 year old kid.
So they have one kiosk that just had bagels and coffee. Everything else was sold out by 13:00. Too lazy to make more sandwiches. We want protein....
Over in the corner is this cashless market. You have to swipe $15 on your card to enter the baricades and then you grab what you want and walk out. Well there wasn't much selection in there either..... Just junk food..... only a security guard. Cameras on the ceiling track what you grab.
I had a flash in my mind that people are going to have to start loading their backpacks with emergency food just to navigate around in food deserts.
At least my local airport offers debit swipe cards in a vending machine.
Chase bank already bans crypto. What happens if they debank others or start controlling your food-carbon rations?
In Communist China and Stalin/Russia they would hide dead bodies in the household to keep getting food rations.
This cashless society can devolve and unravel so quickly. Imagine all the food is sold out by 13:00. It happened to us!!!
