Oh, I see the success of Scary Movie is influencing others to make—…….OH NO! IT’S HAPPENING AGAIN!
[Hated Trope] “Patient Zero”
When a piece of media gets so popular that other people decide to attempt to replicate it without understanding what made the original so good, making the replications awful and causing the original or “Patient Zero” to be lumped in with the awful replications.
Scary Movie - A pretty funny raunchy 2000s parody film which many thought was going to revive the spoof genre, only to sink it deeper due to “2 of the 5 writers” of Scary Movie (though that’s only TECHNICALLY correct) making a spew of godawful “movie movies”, attempting to cash in on the Scary Movie formula, such as Epic Movie, Disaster Movie, Meet the Spartans and Date Movie. But that excludes Not Another Teen Movie and Superhero Movie, those ones are actually good.
Kindergarten Cop - A fun family comedy with the concept of “What if a hardcore action star had to babysit?”, with its hardcore action star being Arnold Schwarzenegger. Other studios then took this concept and put out lazy, soulless cash grabs with other action stars; Hulk Hogan, Vin Diesel, John Cena, Dwayne Johnson, Dave Bautista, you name it.
Kurtis Connor, Danny Gonzales and Drew Gooden - Basically all three of these guys make the same content with some minor differences, like Drew is more serious, Danny talks about movies more and Kurtis is…..not funny. And they’re all pretty good. But a lot of creators (mainly millennials) have basically copied their content style and thumbnail setup to make very lazy, engagement/rage baity videos, mainly with the topics of “this generation bad!”.
If they make Scary Movie 7, what would you like to see?

In r/shittymoviedetails, one of the top posts is a post criticising the fact that Doofy is a COVID Jan 6er 5 years after that became irrelevant, even though the joke WAS that Doofy was so stupid he thought COVID was still going on. This is because the sub is dumb.
Depictions of a certain group of people which can be seen as offensive is actually well liked by the certain group they’re depicting
- Le Petit Tourette - A South Park episode all about Tourettes, where Cartman fakes having Tourettes after seeing a kid with Tourettes having a miserable experience which he interprets as cool. There are times where the Tourettes themselves are played for laughs, but it’s actually really well liked in the Tourettes community for mostly accurately conveying the struggles of people with Tourettes.
- Doofy from Scary Movie - This is a stretch since not EVERYONE from the spectrum likes Doofy but to those who like them, they convey a very frustrating aspect of Autism a lot of other movies are too scared to talk about; The assholes. SPOILER WARNING but it’s revealed that Doofy was faking his mental conditions the entire time and was actually the killer the whole time, and there is a lot of times where some Autistic people will exaggerate or downright fake their issues in order to get what they want.
Edit: Ok let me explain some things since people are misunderstanding what I’m saying with Doofy. Not ALL autistic people are like that, but there is a some. Even though you haven’t seen it before, doesn’t mean they don’t exist.
I liked Scary Movie 6
I loved it, I really did, I found it hilarious. Of course, this film really isn’t for everyone but I liked it!
Honestly, the trailers did this movie so dirty; they put the unfunniest scene at the forefront of it. I thought this movie was gonna be all “Gen Z Woke” jokes but it’s actually not like that at all.
In fact, Scary Movie 6 is my favourite kind of woke; Woke that portrays the right wing (obviously) in a bad light while not feeling like they’re spoon feeding you lessons, along with not being afraid to poke fun at the “woke” in a nice and non-judgemental way.
Like, the “I’m woke so I’m broke” character really doesn’t have that many “lol I’m woke” jokes. Plus, there’s a trans character portrayed pretty well, yeah the character’s entire joke is being trans but they never portray it as a bad thing.
The trailer really made it seem like the movie was gonna be all references to other movies and callbacks to the original, but it actually stuck to parodying Scream….5? 6? I don’t know, I didn’t see any of the new Scream movies. Like, I can literally name all the times they parodied another movie; Terrifer, Get Out, Weapons, The Substance, Final Destination Bloodlines, Sinners, Smile, John Wick, K-Pop Demon Hunters. That was it. Unless you count Kai Cenat streams as a movie.
But there were a few flaws. For one, the Chris Elliott Longlegs scene really pissed me off because they had a scene in the trailer where they were parodying the interrogation scene but in this, Chris has one scene where he just references his “grab my strong hand” line and leaves. They also do the “I came, YOU CAME?!” joke like three times.
But honestly, I loved it! I’d highly recommend watching it in a theatre, it was crazy fun laughing with a crowd.

Media that is weirdly extremely popular in other countries
While an icon in both the UK and the US, Mr Bean is huge in India.
Baywatch was huge in Germany during the 1990s
ABBA was so popular in Australia that some even said “ABBA-Mania” rivals “Beatlemania”.
What years these movies would take place in if they were made today
So what do these three mean for us?
I’m gonna sum my points quick since I’m not really in the mood to write loads and loads so whatever;
For one, I think it generally shows that opportunities for fame are there.
BUT! There are three two things here;
All of them were made by relatively popular YouTubers
All of them are Horror (which in general has been the only genre pumping out new good original popular films these past few years).
These don’t make the movies better or worse, I just think they’re worth pointing out.
And before anyone says “UHHHHH BUT BACKROOMS HAD BUDGET OF 10 MILL!” Yeah it was still made by someone who was only an 18 year old middle class college student when production started so stfu
