Hindian Hegemony destroys Ananthapuri FM Malayalam Radio

Last year, Prashar Bharati dominated by Hindians sitting in Delhi suddenly changed the name of a popular running Malayalam FM Radio from “Ananthapuri” to “Vividh Bharati Malayalam” and started to broadcast numerous Hindi Programs along with Malayalam programs.

Lakhs of listeners in Thiruvananthapuram who daily listen to popular Malayalam songs and programs were shocked to notice this sudden change in the name and the programs aired on their favourite Radio channel.

Radio listeners immediately approached the elected representatives and expressed their unhappiness with the change of name and broadcast of Hindi programs in Malayalam Radio.

After a lot of appeals from elected representatives from Kerala, Prasar Bharati decided to bring back Ananthapuri by renaming it as “Ananthapuri Vividh Bharati Malayalam” rather than the original name.

However, they continued to broadcast Hindi Programs from 9 AM to 10 AM and at other time slots in the “Ananthapuri Vividh Bharati Malayalam” Radio channel as part of their Policy of Hindi Imposition.

Interestingly, revenue started to decrease for this Hindinized “Ananthapuri Vividh Bharati Malayalam” because advertisers started to look for other avenues for their promotion. 

[1] On 23 July 2023, Prasar Bharati suddenly closed down the Ananthapuri Vividh Bharati Malayalam channel by merging it with the Akashvani channel which is already known for broadcasting Hindi programs along with Malayalam programs.

[2] Prasar Bharati merged it with Akashvani without even intimating the staff working in the AIR Thiruvananthapuram office and many anchors and casual employees lost their jobs and source of income.

The whole incident shows the disregard for Federalism and diversity by the High command dominated by Hindians sitting in Delhi who want to impose Hindi on Malayalis and destroy a successfully running Ananthapuri FM Radio channel.

One of the main reason for me to vehemently advocate federalism in India because the present system of governance is inequitable and it gives political power to Hindians where they can implement policies that are detrimental to our culture.

Adding to the problem, a major source of revenue for the Union Government comes from South Indian states and the system is designed in such a way that we are NOT empowered to take decisions for the promotion of our culture in our states.

If India was a Federation of States like USA, then it would be almost impossible for an Hindian sitting in Delhi to change the name of a popular Malayalam Radio channel of Thiruvananthapuram at his or her whims and fancies without having deliberations with Malayalis who listen to it.
