Minor nitpick for an otherwise great show, but this has been bothering me. In S1, Walt earns Tuco’s respect after blowing up his office, even negotiating his own terms. Even if power wise, Tuco is still dominant, Walt continues to leverage his product to demand Tuco’s respect. We see this in the S1 finale when Tuco only gives him part of the money and Walter demands all of it. Even when Tuco attempts to physically intimidate Walt, Walt remains stone cold stoic and makes his demands fearlessly, to which Tuco capitulates.
He clearly has Tuco on the backfoot, to the point where he even feels compelled to apologize to Jesse.
But in the very next scene of the next season this dynamic flips and Tuco is suddenly demanding Walt to do degrading things like get on his hands and knees give mouth-to-mouth resuscitation and Walt is fumbling and stuttering nervously like he doesn’t know what to do or say.
I’m more confused at Walt than I am Tuco. Tuco is unpredictable, sure, but I just don’t see S1 Walter, who threatened to blow an entire office to kingdom come would suddenly be intimidated into submission so easily.
Out of nowhere Sensei Ishikawa starts grilling me for fighting like a coward and I’m like “??” I engaged all the mongols with my bow and killed them all from a distance right beside Ishikawa who was shooting along with me.
I expected Jin to be like “But Sensei I’m only doing what you SAID!” But then Jin starts rambling on about how we need to fight dirty for some reason. So is archery considered cowardly now? What does that make Ishikawa then?
