Are there any parks around Mundijong, Serpentine, Jarrahdale that have a Whiteman Park type of feel to them?

Somewhere you can go for an easy walk - but not necessarily feel like you’re in full on bush land.

What’s a good ADHD book that gives a good insight into what day to day life with ADHD looks like?

I diagnosed not long ago and wasn’t too happy with the whole diagnostic process (the initial ADHD report and diagnosis was done by an Occupational Therapist! And then “verified” by the Psychiatrist after a quick on the spot glance and 5 minute conversation).

I’m now having thoughts that I’ve potentially been misdiagnosed and I don’t have money for second or third opinions.

What are some good books on ADHD that show what day to day life looks like for someone with the condition?

Are the finger note positions on a Yamaha Digital Sax like the YDS120 identical to an Alto Sax?

I’m looking to get back into Sax after being away for 20 years - I played for 3 years during high school.

My music reading needs a lot of refreshing and I don’t want to annoy everyone around me by playing hot cross buns on repeat on a loud Alto Saxophone lol

Is a digital Sax like the YDS120 a good option to get me up to speed and relearn my music reading/fingering? Will that be directly transferable to an Alto Saxophone?

Do you have to do a fitness to drive medical assessment anytime you change adhd meds?

So I reported my adhd to the department of transport.

A few months later they sent me a letter saying I have to do a fitness to drive assessment.

I’m currently doing ok on one medication, however there are some side effects and not sure what will happen down the line.

Am I going to have to do one at anytime I change adhd meds now?

Tips on how to get comfortable with an older style RF scanner/gun?

So I might be starting a new job soon - where the main tool of the job is an RF scanner/gun (likely an older black and white screened one).

I’ve done voice picking before and got the hang of that fairly quickly - but the RF gun seems to be a bit more complicated to me.

How long does it usually take to familiarise yourself with a particular RF gun/system?

Best way to brew Earl Grey with Saffron threads?

So they Saffron is best steeped at around 70 degrees Celsius and that it should steep for 10 to 20 minutes.

If I add Saffron threads to a cup of black tea once it cools to 70 degrees and wait 10 to 20 minutes the drink will go cold.

What’s the best way to do it?

Recently hired a Saxophone - is this a leak?

Recently hired an entry level Jupiter Saxophone.

Looks like it’s been extensively used.

The D note is hard to hold/get a good tone.

Is this a likely leak?

Would it be difficult to find a job in Bookkeeping as a male?

So I was previously studying Accounting at uni - but had to drop out as I couldn’t manage work and study (work was in a different field).

I’m contemplating on doing a cert III or 4 in bookkeeping, then trying to find work in book keeping and then study accounting at uni online.

However I’m a bit tentative to go down this path as I don’t know if I’m going to face any hurdles in landing a job as bookkeeper being a male.

I’ve seen people comment online that bookkeeping has more women and not sure if I’d be at a significant disadvantage and have a lot of difficulty in finding work.

Are there any legitimate remote/online side hustles Australians can access?

A lot of online stuff seems to be US based and it’s hard to filter through what is legitimate and also what is accessible to non-US residents.

(I don’t mind survey sites etc - just as long as you can access it and get paid from within Australia)

Switching between notes and tonguing

I have a question about the above.

Bit of background about me - I just picked up a Saxophone after 20 years and trying to get familiar with it again.

Ok back to the question.

I can switch between some notes smoothly, without having to tongue - but when I hit “d” note, I can’t get a good sounding note and have to tongue to good a good tone. Is this normal with d?

People who went from Vyvanse to Dex - did it work better with you? What changes did you notice?

So after being diagnosed I was first put on Vyvanse, however I couldn’t sleep on it, had cold extremities and had mild chest pain. I did have some positive effects tho.

I then tried Ritalin - had similar to the above effects, sleep was slightly better, but not normal and didn’t really feel any positive ones.

My guess is that I’ll be trialled on Dex next.

Am I to expect much of the same?

Or will sleep potentially be much better on Dex?

Any cleaning precautions I should take with a rented Sax?

So I recently rented a Saxophone and just wanting to know if there are any cleaning precautions I should take before I start playing.

The Saxophone is an entry level Saxophone and it looks like it’s be used a bit. Case smells kinda musty (like old books).

Probably a bit paranoid here, but I’ve read about Saxophone Lung and it’s not something I’d want to get lol

I’m obviously going to give the mouth piece and ligature a wash.

Is there anything I should do with the main body/neck?

I’ve seen they sell some kinda of anti microbial sprays etc but not sure if it’s something I should be using in the main body and neck.

Are stimulants not going to be for me?

So I’ve gone through the process of getting diagnosed and trying meds.

I’ve tried Vyvanse and Ritalin.

I took Vyvanse about 7 times over the space of two weeks, but had to stop due to side effects. I took Ritalin for about 5 days after which I also stopped because of side effects.

Negative side effects experienced:

- very poor sleep on Vyvanse. Slightly better with Ritalin, but sleep was still worse compared to no meds.

- cold feet.

- blood pressure went up, readings were on par with stage 1 hypertension.

- had mild chest pain, I can’t conclusively say it was from meds, it’s possible I slept in a bad position. Let’s assume it was from meds tho.

- felt like crap exercising. Just tired out quicker.

I don’t think I saw any benefits from Ritalin. On Vyvanse I probably did. Felt more calm and focused.

Not sure where this leaves me.

Going off the above, does it look like stimulants aren’t for me?

Is it easier for a support worker to work in aged care or an aged care worker to work in support work?

Just trying to figure out what qualification will open more doors.

Do you still get a community newspaper delivered?

(By delivered, I mean in your letterbox by someone on a paper run)

Back in the day it seems most suburbs had a community newspaper delivered weekly (suburb I grew up in had two!).

Can’t remember when this stopped for me - but it was pretty good. It was a little bit of community connection and I remember my grandparents always used the tv guides in them.

Do you still find one in your letterbox each week?

How does one get into Saxophone servicing/repair?

I’m in Australia - and have absolutely no idea how one gets into this area of work.

There don’t seem to be any training courses on offer, so just wondering how people generally get into this line of work?

Can anyone give some examples of attrition players VS aggressive/want short points and get the winner asap players?

Not sure if there’s even a clear distinction here.

But if so, are there any players that purposefully extend points to wear down their opponents and are the players who are really aggressive, seek short points and hate getting into long rallies?

And secondary question - how do these playing styles fair against each other, generally speaking?

Can anyone help me identify this Jupiter Sax?

I’m looking to hire a Saxophone.

I wanted to hire the Yamaha YAS280 but it’s not available at the moment.

The music shop has this Jupiter at the same rent price that’s available and was wondering what model it is and how it compares to the Yamaha?

Thanks
