oceanstatemedia.orgReporter's Query: Do You Know Who Runs "What's Going On In Rhode Island"?
Hi, friends.
I'm a freelance reporter based in Providence (my hometown) who has written for Rhode Island Monthly, the Boston Globe, and Rhode Island Current, among other outlets.
I'm working on a story about the widely-followed, and yet anonymously-run, social media account and news site “What’s Going On In Rhode Island.” The article will cover -- among other things -- the origins of the account, its evolution into a major player on the RI social media landscape, and who’s behind it.
"What's Going On in Rhode Island" has over 250,000 Instagram followers and more than 200,000 followers on Facebook. In recent years, it has posted more and more news -- or news-adjacent -- content. But unlike most traditional news sites, it publishes no masthead identifying editorial staff and its articles and posts have no bylines.
Do you know anything about it? And, specifically, do you know who runs it? Let's talk!
Feel free to message me here or via email at philip [dot] edward [dot] eil [at] gmail [dot] com.
I am always interested in speaking with folks "on the record." But I understand that, for various reasons, folks may want to share info privately and confidentially, and that's OK, too.
Thanks!
