What are your September must watch pre Halloween movies?

Ugh I need some suggestions! The movies I have watched that I feel like are good for pre Halloween movies are the following;

  1. Gonjiam haunted asylum

  2. Ginger snaps

  3. Carnival of souls (I’m so livid that HBO max took that movie off their app. It’s been on there for the longest time. I swear this movie is the best pre Halloween movie. I absolutely love it so much!)

I also love watching Psycho, Ringu, and Juon series but I spread those out between September and October.

What are your unpopular opinions you have for traveling that will make others side eye you?

Here are mine 😂

  1. I’ll get a lot of flack for this but I have traveled around Japan and I can’t say Tokyo is my favorite city. It’s nice but overhyped. I have been to Osaka, Kyoto, Nara, Hokkaido, and Fukuoka. In my opinion Fukuoka is wayyy better than Tokyo.

  2. I went to London and unfortunately at the time I was sick. My trip was miserable maybe because of being sick but I didn’t find London special. I’m hoping to give it another chance in the future.

  3. I love trying McDonald’s, Starbucks, and KFC in different countries.

  4. know I might sound like a Tokyo hater but I find Seoul wayyyy better. I know I’m comparing apples to oranges. My husband is in South Korea and I visit him a lot. I feel like Seoul is really amazing and I just find it better than Tokyo.

I feel like I lost one of my closest friends and I don’t know whether to let the friendship go

I became very close friends with someone several years ago. We had a lot in common and for a long time I considered her one of my best friends. We shared a lot of memories and I genuinely thought we’d always be close.

Over the past couple of years, though, our friendship has gradually changed. There wasn’t one huge falling-out that ended everything. It’s more like I slowly started feeling less important to her and less connected to her.

At the same time, I’ve been going through a really difficult period in my own life. My husband and I have been living apart for a long time because of immigration circumstances, and I don’t know exactly when we’ll finally be able to live together or even where our life will ultimately be. It’s been incredibly lonely and emotionally exhausting.

During that time, I’ve really missed having this friend in my life. I wanted to feel like I could reach out to her and have her there for me, but instead I’ve increasingly felt like I don’t really have that friendship anymore. There have been little things that have hurt me. For example, I recently reached out to her about something that was meaningful to both of us, and she didn’t respond. I know objectively that one unanswered message isn’t a huge deal, but because of everything that’s happened between us, it really affected me. It made me feel like I was reaching toward someone who wasn’t reaching back.

I also feel very disconnected when we’re together with another mutual friend. The two of them have become extremely close, and when we’re all together I often feel like a third wheel. They aren’t necessarily doing anything intentionally mean, but I’ll sometimes leave feeling like I wasn’t really part of the friendship at all.

What hurts most is that I don’t necessarily want to lose either of them. I just don’t recognize the friendship anymore. Sometimes I’ll look at my friend and think, I know this person, but I don’t feel like I know her anymore. Recently, she reached out to me and said that she feels like there are things we need to talk about and that she’d like us to be on good terms, even if we can’t be as close as we used to be.
Part of me appreciates that she reached out. Another part of me is angry because I keep thinking, where was this friendship when I was struggling and really needed my friends?

I know I probably haven’t handled everything perfectly either, and I’m willing to acknowledge that. But I’m scared that if we talk, I’ll be made to feel like I’m the only reason the friendship changed.
I don’t necessarily need the friendship to go back to exactly how it was. I think what I’m struggling with is grieving what we used to have while also figuring out whether there’s anything worth rebuilding.
Would you try to have the conversation and see what happens, or would you accept that the friendship has run its course?

Is it normal to barely remember a SA?

Disclaimer: SA

This might sound strange, but I recently started thinking about something that happened before I met my husband.

I went on a couple of dates with a guy I met online. At the time, I really liked him and thought there might be something serious there. During one of the dates, things became sexual and I told him I wasn’t ready.
He continued anyway he kissed my chest and eventually put his fingers inside me without my consent. He also made comments about how attractive/desirable he was and even suggested that maybe I was asexual because I didn’t seem interested in going further.

At the time, I remember feeling like there was something wrong with me. I thought, *He’s attractive, I really like him, so why don’t I want this?* I didn’t really understand that I was allowed to simply not want sexual contact.

I’ve since gotten married and have a very happy relationship with my husband. What happened with this guy has never affected my marriage or my ability to have a healthy relationship. I actually rarely think about the incident at all. Every once in a while the memory randomly comes back, but most of the time it’s like I completely forgot about it.
I even still follow this guy on social media, which makes me feel even stranger about the whole thing. I don’t interact with him, and he’s essentially irrelevant to my life now. I just never thought about unfollowing him.

I recently realized that what happened was sexual assault, and I’m wondering if it’s normal to experience something like that and then essentially move on and barely think about it. Does anyone else have experiences where something happened that was objectively wrong, but it didn’t end up having a major emotional impact on them?

Is there a singer or song that reminds you of your ex friend?

This may sound so weird but I can’t listen to Halsey without thinking of my ex friend. My friend’s vibe was just like Halsey’s and her music reminds me of her. I still listen to all of Halsey’s music but I’ll always think about my friend when I listen to Halsey. Ugh I hate I feel this way I really love Halsey and her music

Should I skip my friend’s birthday dinner since my ex friend might be there?

It’s such a strange feeling when you’re no longer friends with someone who used to be one of the most important people in your life. I met my former best friend in college several years ago, and at one point we were incredibly close. We were basically like sisters. Over the years, our lives changed and we both ended up in very different places. I got married and have had to navigate a long-distance relationship, while she became increasingly involved in a relationship that I felt was unhealthy for her. I spent a long time trying to support her and encourage her to make changes, but eventually I realized that there was only so much I could do.

I think that situation contributed to the breakdown of our friendship, but the final conflict happened after a dinner I was hosting. Some people close to me were there, and someone made a rude comment about my relationship. I was upset about the comment, but I was also uncomfortable when I realized that two people at the dinner had been privately talking about it afterward. I confronted everyone involved because I felt disrespected. The other people involved apologized, but my former best friend became very defensive and we ended up having a huge argument. That was essentially the point where our friendship fell apart.

I did try to rebuild the friendship several months later, but it never felt the same. Whenever I saw her, it almost felt like I was looking at someone I used to know rather than my best friend. There was also another person in our friend group who became very close with her, and I started feeling like the third wheel in a friendship that I had originally helped create. There was one dinner where the three of us were together and I felt completely ignored. Eventually I left early because I was so uncomfortable. It was especially painful because I never expected to feel like the outsider in my own friendship.

More recently, she had a birthday celebration that I couldn’t attend because I had an extremely important personal commitment. She knew how significant it was to me, and when I told her I couldn’t make it, she didn’t really say anything beyond acknowledging the message. That honestly made me realize that whatever friendship we once had probably isn’t coming back. Now the other close friend in this situation has a birthday coming up, and I’m struggling with what to do.

I would honestly rather celebrate with her one-on-one by taking her out to dinner. I don’t want to tell her she can’t invite my former friend, because obviously she is free to have whatever friendships she wants. But I also don’t really feel comfortable being around my former friend anymore, especially when I know the two of them tend to focus on each other and I end up feeling ignored.

Would it be selfish or unreasonable for me to tell my friend that I’d rather celebrate her birthday separately because I’m no longer close with my former friend? I don’t want to make her choose sides or create drama. I just genuinely don’t want to put myself in a situation where I’m uncomfortable at someone’s birthday.
At the same time, part of me wonders if I should just suck it up for one night because it’s her birthday and it’s supposed to be about her.

I’m so happy I found skins before my flight to Korea

Oh wow…. I’m going to South Korea to see my husband which is so lovely. It’s a 16 hour flight from New York and oh wow that’s so long. I have never seen skins before and so far it’s been very lovely. I’m saving so many episodes to watch for my long flight. I can’t wait to see my husband because long distance is such a struggle. He’s soooo lovely!

Who from history are you related to?

So, I’m not related to ex South Korean President Park Chung-Hee but my husband is. I guess when we have a baby the baby will be distantly related to a former Korean baby.
