I think "I Didn't Understand" is his saddest song

As someone who has dealt with major depression half of my life, this is the song that resonates the most with me. I think it perfectly encapsulates the feeling of major depression. Especially the lines "Cause my feelings never change a bit, I always feel like shit, I don't know why, I guess that I just do". Sometimes you don't have a reason for why you are the way that you are and I think people who have this illness are the only ones who can truly understand that.

And "You once talked to me about love, and you painted pictures of A never-neverland...and I could've gone to that place, but I didn't understand" That no matter how much love somebody can show you and how nice it sounds, you inevitably will ruin it. It's self-sabotoge and you have nobody to blame but yourself. It's the acceptance that you will never beat this thing. Every line hurts to hear but it's painfully beautiful and honest. I relate to it so much and it makes me cry every time. His music has always been like a warm blanket to me and he articulates the feeling so perfectly

Day 3 Cymbalta 20mg to zero

My psych has me stopping Cymbalta because I need a 14-day washout before starting an MAOI for treatment-resistant depression. I was previously on 60mg, tapered down to 20mg, and have been on 20mg since December.

Felt fine day 1, but day 2 the dizziness/lightheadedness, fatigue and hungover/out-of-it feeling hit pretty hard. Still feeling it today, but no brain zaps or nausea so far.

For anyone who went from 20mg to zero, when did it peak and when did you start feeling functional again? Trying to ride this out until I start the MAOI on the 27th

What would you put in front of this record console to make the floor feel less bare?

I love how my turntable/listening area is coming together, but the hardwood directly in front of the record console feels a little bare to me. Also, I know the living room rug is too small and I’m planning to replace it with something larger. I actually like the simple light/cream look with the white couch, but I’m open to a different color/pattern or something a little more elegant as long as it isn’t too loud or overly retro. Just can't decide on which rug to pick

Would love any ideas for making these three areas feel more cohesive!

Elliott Smith tattoo ideas

I’ve wanted an Elliott Smith tattoo for probably 20+ years, but I’ve never wanted any of the usual album covers, lyrics or Ferdinand the Bull tributes. I’d love to take a lyric and turn it into a really simple visual instead. Something small, black, minimal, and not overtly depressing.

What Elliott lyric do you think could translate into a really cool visual tattoo?

6 Month update (HLC Ankara, 3153 grafts)

Just hit the 6 month mark post-op (procedure date: February 13th). I’m 36 years old and have been on fin and min for over 13 years. This is how it looks straight out of the shower with zero product.

Really happy with how the new hairline is shaping up. Definitely a noticeable improvement vs 5 months. Just waiting for the density to start. I've noticed that the right side seems to have grown in a bit more than the left, but hopefully will all catch up in the next 6 months. How's it looking?

Stopping 20mg Cymbalta to start Emsam (MAOI)

Been on 20mg Cymbalta since December for treatment-resistant depression. I've tried basically every SSRI/SNRI, TMS, ketamine infusions, etc. Nothing has worked.

I stopped smoking weed, eat healthy, work out with a trainer almost daily, and I'm still depressed as ever. I can function, but the reward system is just gone. Hanging with friends, laughing, enjoying things, none of it really hits anymore. The anhedonia is brutal, and lately I've also been extremely irritable and impatient.

My psych wants me off Cymbalta completely, then after a 14-day washout we're starting Emsam (selegiline MAOI patch). I'm hopeful since we've basically exhausted everything else.

I'm nervous about jumping from 20mg to zero, but I also want to get through this and onto the MAOI ASAP. I went from 60mg last year down to 20mg in like two or three weeks and it was rough. I felt nauseous for months after and not great at all but finally stabilized on 20mg.

Anyone jump off 20mg? How rough was it and for how long? And anyone with TRD/anhedonia have success with Emsam?

Brand new Fluance RT85 - loud pops/crackling even on new records. Normal break-in or something else?

Just set up a brand new Fluance RT85 with the Ortofon 2M Blue and I’m getting intermittent popping/crackling like you can hear in the video.

This is a brand new Jack Johnson record. You can hear some pretty loud pops immediately after I lower the stylus into the lead-in groove before the music even starts and then some lighter crackling/pops underneath the music.

I’ve tried multiple records and it happens to varying degrees. Sometimes I’ll replay the same section and the pops aren’t even in the same place.

Tracking force is set to 1.8g and anti-skate to 1.8. Turntable is grounded to my Technics SA-400 and connected to the phono input. I also tested the receiver/speakers through AUX with another source and don’t hear the crackling there.

I saw Fluance says a new stylus can need 15-20 hours of playback to break in and that popping/crackling may decrease during that time. Is this amount of noise normal for a brand new 2M Blue, or does this sound more like static/grounding/something else I should troubleshoot?

Built a 600+ song summer soul playlist for anyone chasing that warm weather vibe

Spent a while building this 600+ song playlist. Lots of soul, R&B, funk, yacht rock, oldies, and a splash of newer artists that fit the same vibe. Figured I'd share in case anyone's looking for a soundtrack for the rest of the summer. Feel free to throw out any recommendations you think would fit!

Best soul/funk remix playlists on Spotify?

Looking for soulful remixes of artists like D'Angelo, Sade, Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Erykah Badu, etc. Not house or club remixes, just smooth, tasteful flips. Any Spotify playlists or albums you'd recommend?

How do you let go of the hate after a breakup?

It's been over a year since my ex and I broke up. I'm over the relationship itself, my life is genuinely in a much better place and I don't want her back. But I can't seem to let go of the anger.

We loved each other deeply, but things became toxic and we ended it. What I can't get past is how everything happened afterward. She seemed to jump straight into a new relationship while I was left alone in our apartment surrounded by all the reminders of us. I ran into her with the new guy, she completely ignored me, and eventually blocked me which absolutely crushed me because I was nothing but nice to her in person.

I'm stuck somewhere between love and hate. Part of me still remembers the person I loved and another part is furious at how she handled everything and how disposable I felt. She has no idea how much pain all of that caused me. I never got closure.

We've been in no contact ever since and I'm almost certain I'll never hear from her again.

For anyone who's been through something similar, how did you finally let go of the resentment? I don't want to carry this around anymore. I don't forgive what happened, but I'm tired of giving it space in my head.
