Is $2300 (£1700) leftover funds after hotel+flight enough for Edinburgh in early August?

I was gonna cancel my solo trip to Edinburgh as a trans solo traveler but I’m just gonna get over my ocd and anxiety and not miss out of an amazing experience. Any suggestions on places I should visit and cafes/restaurants to add to my itinerary?

Budget - $5,600 (£4,200)

Hotel (Edinburgh - New Town) - 6 nights with early 1pm check in - $1,957 (£1,450)

Jet Blue flight from Boston to Edinburgh - $1326 (£990)

No car rental, relying on tram system/tour buses

Aug 1 - arrive at Edinburgh Airport (10am) & take tram (10:30am), check into hotel, grab brunch, rest and go for evening walk to Ross Fountain, Scott’s Monument, Colton Hill for evening walk and grab dinner

Aug 2 - have breakfast at the Pantry, go for a walk through Circus Lane, St Bernard’s Wall, Deans Village, maybe visit a museum, then go back to hotel (rest/touch up), evening walk and grab dinner (still deciding where)

Aug 3 - have breakfast (Greenwoods Edinburgh), walk to Waverley Bridge, Cockburn St, Royal Mile, Victoria St., and Vennel Viewpoint, (still need more to add)

Aug 4 - stop at milkman for breakfast (7-8am) and head to HighlandExploreTours for Scottish Highlands & Glenfinnan day tour - $100USD (£75)

Aug 5 - Haven’t decided yet

Aug 6 - Haven’t decided yet

Aug 7 - check out of hotel, take team to airport and leave Edinburgh (11:30am)

Approx total (not including other transportation/food/tour expenses = $3,383 (£2,535), left over is $2,217 (£1,661)

What last minute places would you recommend for August? Canceling Edinburgh plans

I recently reserved a hotel/flight accommodations (refundable of course) Aug 1 - Aug 7 in Edinburgh as well planning a tour to the Scottish Highlands for my bday. It’s been my dream since I was little to go (I’m almost 24 now) but after looking at public consensus on traveling to Edinburgh in August, it seems the most hectic and least recommended due to the Fringe so I’m gonna cancel the reservations.

My trip would’ve been right before the Fringe starts (Aug 7) and my hotel was in New Town but I don’t want to risk an awful experience. I also don’t want to have to dive and swim through people waiting hours just to sightsee and do basic things like stop at a shop or cafe/restaurant to eat. Plus with it being the UK, I’m just scared to go to their airport now and be around crowds in Edinburgh since being trans is so politicized now especially in the UK and I’m from a blue very accepting U.S. state.

It’s not necessarily me being scared of crowds of people but more the safety regarding it as there also will be more drunk people. I told my mom and she may be overreacting but said what if I get jumped in the street or if visitors from a country where anti lgbt hate normalized and attack me. Last thing I want is to be attacked on my bday since I would be relying on public transportation and walking to and from the airport.

What last minute places would you recommend? I’m flying from Boston, USA btw.

Is the Edinburgh airport safe for transgender women who haven’t changed their legal documents yet?

I’m fairly passable but I’m just scared that something may go wrong or people starting at me/judging me at the airport when the scanners go off or the agent checks my info. My passport has my fem photo but my dead name and gender is still on there. I’m traveling out of Boston to Edinburgh as well. Also for the trams would I need to show any id or is it self service? Thank you.

Any places you recommend? I was looking at Iceland but what do you all think? Ideally 5-7 night trip and I would be flying out of Boston. Budget is $5-6,000.

I want to visit Edinburgh and the highlands in August before the fringe starts but how are airports for transgender women?

My main anxiety is the Edinburgh airport so idk what to expect. I’m flying out of Boston, USA. What are your experiences? Should I be worried and cancel? I was also thinking Iceland in late August for my 24th birthday but what do you all think?

How bad is the first week of August this year visiting Edinburgh?

I have reserved hotel for 6 nights at $2400 (£1800), flight, and highlands day tour accommodations in Edinburgh for Aug 1-7 and I don’t have much of a choice since its my bday and I go back to uni Aug 31 (I’m from America).

I’m excited but I keep reading on other reddit forums and Tik Tok that August is the worst time to visit due to the Fringe so I’m having second thoughts. I guess what I wanna know is will the crowds prevent me from getting a quick bite to eat at a nice cafe like Milkman or getting on my tour bus? I also won’t be having a rental as I will be walking from my hotel in old town, exploring the city, and checking out places like Calton Hill and Deans Village.

I don’t mind crowds but I just don’t want it to be physically disruptive. Plus I’m going solo so it might add to my ambience but even though I’m fairly passable as a trans woman, it still gives me anxiety if someone will have a vendetta against me. I wanna hear your thoughts/suggestions. Bad idea? Thank you!

Is Amsterdam in late August a worthwhile and safe visit as a first time solo transgender traveler from Boston?

I turn 24 next month and have saved $5000 to treat myself for my birthday. I’ve been looking at Iceland and Edinburgh specifically but Edinburgh is getting expensive due to the Fringe so I was wondering about Amsterdam? Solid option? I’ve always wanted to travel to Europe.

6 nights at the Hilton Edinburgh Carlton for $2800USD worth it?

My flight is $1000 from Boston and my budget is $5500 and I will not rent a car relying on public transportation. I will take a day tour into the highlands which is about $100. It’s my bday so I want to treat myself. Does this seem worth it to you? Breakfast isn’t included but I will be trying a lot of different cafes anyways…

How likely will I be swarmed by midges in early August?

I’m thinking of booking a last minute trip to Edinburgh and the Scottish Highlands Aug 1-6 before the fringe starts but I’m wondering if midges will certainly be an issue as I hate bugs. Should I just go to Iceland instead?

Does Edinburgh loses it charm in the summer (July/August)? Is Fall/Winter a better scenic time to travel?

Does the rain, fog, and gloominess make the scenic vibes?
