How do I check for my PC's health (particularly my motherboard and maybe my PSU)?

My PC experienced 2 forced shutdowns by sudden thunderstorms (caused by the heatwave). Now, it still turns on perfectly fine, but I shut my PC off for the rest of the night along with switching the power button off. If my memory serves me right, brief blackouts may involve surges. Which can potentially damage PSU and motherboard units. I once had to replace those parts. I want to check and make sure I suffered no damage whatsoever with my current ones.

How do I check my components health? Do I run a command for a diagnostic? (I hope my parts are perfectly fine, especially considering the horrendous market, but I'll cross that bridge if I get there)

How do I open up the CyberEngine tweaks settings menu? I'm pressing every single key and nothing happens

I set up everything, including the visual c prerequisite, but no matter what key I press, the UI doesn't open.

Compilation error with "NativeInteraction.reds". I tried updating all other dependent mods like CodeWare and Cyberengine tweaks but I have no luck.

I recently decided to get back into playing Cyberpunk 2077, only to find myself with this error when I launch the game. It points to the "NativeInteraction.reds", which is part of the Native Interactions Framework (said part in my r6/scripts folder).

I tried to make sure all the other mods it depends on are updated, such as CodeWare, RED4ext, CyberEngine Tweaks, redscript, and ArchiveXL. But I still get the same launch error.

Also, I currently don't have many mods installed. It also used to work fine last time I played.

Any idea on how I can fix this?

Is mediumship not supposed to help with criminal cases?

I've read somewhere that there haven't been any known examples of a mediums or psychics correctly solving cases. For example, the famed Allison Dubois was known for being wrong in various criminal cases. However, I'm not exactly inclined to entirely dismiss mediumship. I'm just wondering if there are limitations to even experienced practitioners. Like, are they able to see what lies beyond but can't see what's going on in the human world?

(what prompted this thought is that I got a notification online on a post I made a long time ago and it was a skeptic saying the above)

Regarding the Supreme Court ruling that Trump can fire independent agencies: are there limitations on his end?

The one recent Supreme Court victory that he gained (everything else was a loss) is a rather concerning one: him being able to fire people in independent agencies. But rather than immediately despair, I am curious about if he still has limitations with this. Like, does it still have to go through a lengthy process through the system (which can potentially render his firings vetoed or dismissed)?

What other catches may Trump have to face?

I'm curious about your insight.

Serious question: are all these emails and letters I keep receiving (either to message to Congress or to donate to Democratic causes) actually doing anything? I'm feeling overwhelmed and confused. Is there a more simple and clear goal I can do besides voting?

As someone who is donating monthly to SecureActBlue, I've been receiving all these emails and letters. For a while, I have submites pre-written messages to congress for them to take action and I have occasionally donated to certain causes (I even occasionally share them here on this subreddit). However, it's very exhausting for me. I find myself questioning "is this making a difference? Am I missing opportunities donating to worthy charities? How can I tell which is worthy to partake in and what is fruitless?". Frankly, I'm overwhelmed and confused.

Are these worth it? Or are there simpler, more reliable and efficient ways to opposing this regime than these emails? (For example, what are the best places and causes to donate to and rely on?)

Message to Congress to reject the "great American A.I. act"

I received this email, which left a link to a site that allows to submit a pre-written message to Congress. It's urging us to petition to congress to not accept this act that reduces A.I. regulation for at least 3 years. Here's what the email says (link to site in description):

"Big Tech is moving fast to lock in a dangerous new federal shield against accountability.

A draft bill called the Great American AI Act would prevent states from regulating the development of artificial intelligence models for at least three years. That means states like Illinois could be blocked from passing or enforcing stronger laws requiring transparency, audits, whistleblower protections, and safeguards against some of the most serious harms caused by AI.

I have spent years working in Illinois to make sure artificial intelligence serves people, protects workers, and respects civil rights. As co-chair of the Illinois Generative AI and Natural Language Processing Task Force, I helped lead a statewide effort to study AI’s impact on labor, education, civil rights, consumer protections, privacy, cybersecurity, public services, and the environment.

Now Congress is considering legislation that could wipe out state leadership in one stroke. The bill’s supporters call it “uniformity.” Let’s be honest about what that means. They want one weaker federal ceiling that Big Tech can live with while blocking states from going further to protect residents.

Tell Congress to reject the Great American AI Act and oppose any bill that preempts state authority to regulate AI.

We have seen this playbook before. Last year, Big Tech and its allies tried to force through a sweeping ban on state AI laws. They failed because state lawmakers, attorneys general, advocates, and ordinary people across party lines sounded the alarm. The Senate rejected that effort 99-1, and seventeen Republican governors joined bipartisan opposition to the AI moratorium.

I have joined state lawmakers from both parties from across the country in opposing federal AI preemption because states cannot be pushed aside while AI companies reshape our workplaces, schools, elections, housing markets, health care systems, and public services. State legislatures are often the first place where people can demand action when federal lawmakers stall, cave to lobbyists, or hide behind industry talking points.

A federal AI law should set a strong floor of protections that every company must meet. It should preserve the power of states to go further. That is how we protect people in real time while AI evolves faster than Congress can keep up.

The Great American AI Act moves us in the wrong direction. It gives the largest AI developers breathing room from strong state oversight right when communities need more tools to fight algorithmic discrimination, deepfakes, privacy violations, worker surveillance, unsafe models, and corporate abuse.

Tell Congress to reject the Great American AI Act and any attempt to preempt state AI laws.

Together, we can stop this Big Tech power grab and defend the right of states to protect our communities.

I wonder if I should be donating more food banks and other causes in these dire times. Am I selfish and corrupt, or is it perfectly human?

I won't share the specifics of my finances, but I currently donate to my food bank, various democratic causes, and even give some money to beggars I come across. However, I only give a certain amount and mostly save for me and my family needs with the occasional event or material luxury (for example, I'm saving for a device called the Steam Machine (sorry, I can't resist the occasional material good)).

In these dire times, especially with there being predictions of white collar jobs being laid off https://youtu.be/CnQsFAOw6wk?is=xWbWarzFPi1ZnH1e , I wonder if I'm failing my moral obligation to be donating more money to help my people. After all, doesn't great power come with great responsibility?

What's your take? What does Buddhism say about how much you should sacrifice and how much you should reserve for yourself?

Firefox browsers keeps freezing after I open it. Even when I freshly reinstall it, it STILL freezes.

I've been using Firefox for quite some time on my Linux desktop. Starting yesterday, though, it's been having problems. It's been freezing every time I open, requiring me to terminate it. Ultimately, I chose to reset it entirely. At first, it seemed to go okay as I was able to open it and set up everything once more. But then this morning (as of this writing), it's been freezing up again. I had to use Google Chrome just to type this.

I don't get why Firefox has been acting up and freezing every time I open it. Any idea as to how this is happening and how I can fix it? I'll be grateful.

▲ 3 r/Ecosia

How exactly do I add Ecosia into my Mozilla Firefox Search Engine?

For quite a while, I had managed to add and utilize Ecosia as my search engine for Firefox (I use Linux, which doesn't natively support Ecosia on its own). Just recently, however, I had to refresh my Firefox browser because of a strange glitch, so I have to set things up once again. One of which being setting up my search settings.

I know how to access Firefox's add browser extensions. I also searched Ecosia, clicked on its browser, and tried pasting the url (https://www.ecosia.org/) into my Firefox's search engine settings. But when I paste the url into "url with %s in place of search term", I get an error message on the bottom that says "Try including % in place of the search term". I tried adding that % but nothing seems to be happening. I can't seem to figure out how I got it done in the first place (or has there been a change?).

For those more knowledgeable, how exactly do I set my Mozilla Firefox to add Ecosia as my Search?

Error screen when I try to access Deckyloader

Recently, when I just tried to open my DeckyLoader tab, I get this error message. If I'm in game mode, it remains perpetually stuck on that screen until I shut down my device. I had to boot into desktop, launch Steam's Big picture mode, and try it again from there (at least with BPM, I could alt tab and close Steam). What's the deal with this?

Are 2024 non-voters regretful? Are they taking action against Trump?

Many focus on whether and how many 2024 Trump voters regret their decision. What I'm more curious about, though, are the elligable voters who willingly chose not to vote (or chose a third-party candidate that had no hopes of winning).

I understand being disillusioned by the two-party system. I even once considered not voting between those two. But I ultimately voted to oppose Trump and his tyrannical project 2025. I wish that more had done the same.

So what's the status of those who chose not to vote in 2024?

I hope that more 2024 non voters are considering taking action against Trump. As flawed as the Democrat party is, it is the lesser of the two evils that is more likely to allow third-parties and various other options to exist in the future.

Edit: guys, I'm not asking for people to vent about non-voters. I'm asking if there's been any info (videos, articles, etc.) of non-voters EXPRESSING regret.

Silly curioisity: What would the Bazzite distro say about the user?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ORGjwyXBSiY

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=korOpibkm6g

These videos don't mention Bazzite (the closest is Fedora, which Bazzite is an offshoot of), which makes me wonder what they would interpret Bazzite users to be.

The best I can come up with is: You're a gamer. You likely have a background with the Steam Deck and you want a similar OS, especially after Windows going downhill. (Sorry. I don't know what to add on).

What's your take?

Small questions: is "Cooper" another name for raccoon? If not, why is Sly the only main one to not have a surname after his species?

Most of the other main characters have their last names be their species (Bentley Turtle, Murray Hippo, Carmelita Fox, etc). I tried researching about whether or not Sly's is another name for raccoon, but I can't seem to find anything about it. If Cooper has nothing to do with the animal, why is Sly the odd one out (my guess guess is that it sounds cooler)?

P.s. I am aware that some versions of Sly have his last name be raccoon (browsing on the steamgriddb helped me find some art depicting that).

Minor question: Should EmuDeck change its name so it doesn't sound like it's Steam Deck-centric?

The application/program also works on non-Steam Deck devices, such as desktop PCs, other handhelds, and likely the upcoming Steam Machine. The main site even has such options to select when installing. Not that the name bothers me at all, but it is a little inaccurate-sounding when used on any other device.

Admittedly, I'm not sure what would be a good alternative. The best I got is EmuPack (as in a pack of emulators, which EmuDeck pretty much is), though it doesn't sound as nice as EmuDeck.

What's your take on the matter?

I wonder if the Steam Machine would run PS2/PCSX2 games more smoothly than the Steam Deck (like Sly 2)

While my Steam Deck plays a number of games perfectly fine such as emulated GameCube games, some PS2 games don't run great. For example, Sly 2 lags horribly when facing the middle of hub worlds (and yes, I did try messing with the resolution settings and other aspects, but had no luck). Any insight about if Sly 2 works better on this device? I'd be grateful.

Is this Perfect Part Inc. bluetooth clip on microphone worth it? If not, what's the cheapest/best value that you recommend?

I'm searching for a simple wireless microphone that I would clip on my collar so I could talk more clearly when filming myself with my phone. While I found a number of options, I'm curious about this brand by "Perfect Part Inc." as it has a cheap price. However, I can't seem to find any reviews on it.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/195329119240?_skw=mini+mic+pro&itmmeta=01KVB10RJE7XQJXGJGD0331EE0&hash=item2d7a85d408:g:7v4AAOSwTN9jFT9t&itmprp=enc%3AAQALAAAAwGfYFPkwiKCW4ZNSs2u11xD5xerUgndHcQ0UWC2B5tToblAzoMmnQ3brWy%2FeCuOC9SaQ1IZPdSWvji%2FcflJ%2BGgY48D2Pyb996fvHRiDL3TY4xuORZZt4b5zBl%2FJw7k9cmP9SpuJIppKlUDFH9sKhjxu9f4PITeclksLPOCrSl96Ieiha9krYJO%2Fu9hTOtHba1Sipkr7IR7CK%2BXXe1EzjYFw5NYW1uaidPRhOFd7NYA7lJdxE6nGh%2FLGcMqsp1IRy4w%3D%3D%7Ctkp%3ABlBMULSJg-HaZw

It's possible that this particular mic is a piece of crap and that I'm better off buying a more expensive but reliable one. What's your take? Is this a good mic? Or are there better ones I can get?
