Is it me or is Firefox relatively buggy on Linux (at least)?

I mean, from video freezing, to the browser itself freezing, to memory leaks taking up all my system RAM. It seems kinda buggy.

It's not to the point of unusablility, but bugs happen now and then.

Similar games?

The main thing I like about this are flowy 3rd person combat, the character driven story (many games are narrative driven rather than character driven), and the open world, the RPG elements, and the music.

The main games I can think of that have those are the Nier games, which I've played both.

Full disk decryption with a Yubikey using only a pin?

So I thought I could encrypt my drive, but typing in a long password each time upon boot would be a pain.

So I am thinking of using a Yubikey to enter a pin each time, which then would prompt the Yubikey to give the decryption key to the computer. But the problem with that still is, the Yubikey needs to reset after a set amount of failed attempts to prevent brute forcing.

How would one do this?

Asterisk War - Anime vs Light Novel

How much does anime leave off? Should I just read the light novel?

Also fan translation or yen press for the LN?

Firefox video lagging on Linux

So I am on Linux (Arch KDE Plasma), and I've noticed this issue for a while where a video I am watching can have its picture frozen (while the audio still plays) for a bit. This especially happens if I am in another tab, and then switch to the video.

I've had this happen in multiple websites, so it's not just for example Youtube.

I've tried all the options when it comes to hardware acceleration, and the result is the same.

In addition, there is no resource usage spike during this as far as I've monitored.

The issue is not present in chromium or for that matter any other video player outside of Firefox.

How is a high contrast monitor different from HDR?

Or just increasing the contrast on your monitor? Why do HDR files need to be in their own format? Can't the monitor just shows blacks blacker and whites brighter for everything? Why do you need a specific HDR formatted video?

Weird artifacts on monitor when connected using the GPU DP port

So I noticed like yesterday that in a specific alt tab between windows, there was a glitch on the monitor, trying it again and again, I managed to reproduce it. Then I found an even easier way to reproduce, which is using the brightness slider of the OS (KDE Plasma Arch Linux).

At first I thought this might be due to the DP cable, and that there is a bit of metal at the top of the DP slot from the case, so maybe that interfered. But also on second look, it seems the cable goes as in as it can (there is some distance I guess, but if I push it doesn't go in further), and wiggling it doesn't cause distortion.

I tried the DP cable on the motherboard DP port, the issue didn't happen.

I tried on both the GPU (7900XTX Sapphire Nitro+) DP ports, and it happened.

I got a new cable, and tried that, and yet it still happened.

I tried using desktop recording software, but it does not appear there, it's only on the actual monitor.

I am not sure exactly what is going on. The artifact only happens in very specific situations, and rarely.

Here's the video of the artifact:

https://mega.nz/file/rwpnyAYL#ZZqok1tSLjZA798_QWcaLuF4UHvEg_iB-kxyDiR4S5Y

Edit: It happens significantly more on 60hz, as opposed to when I put it my monitor 240hz (what normally is used), which is a bit weird, since you'd expect the higher framerate to have more issue. I have ran GPU stress tests (superimposition), and it doesn't appear during that.

Not sure if this is really related to Linux, but it does happen on Linux, so maybe there's a bug?

Edit 2: As others in other threads I made suggested, downgrading it fixed it, seems like a bug with the current kernel (7.1.6.arch1-1).

Proton deleting unused emails is unnecessarily bad policy

If you are someone like who makes an email at some point, associates accounts with it, then doesn't it use for years, until maybe the time comes again to for some reason login. Then it's pretty easy to pass the 1 year mark.

I could understand it if Proton only deteted the storage, that is stuff like your emails. But is there really any reason to make you be unable to login back?

They already literally keep the email address in their database to prevent others registering using the same name, I don't think an extra password field (which they might also literally keep tbf), is much more.

Can a condenser mic be used as a speaker?

I know that you can do it with dynamic microphones, but what about condenser mics?

Wouldn't the signal cause the front plate to move, and produce sound like a speaker?

[Spoiler Discussion] Finished season 2 - questions

So, having finished season 2. There are a few things I am wondering, which might have been answered in the LN parts that the anime was adapted from but not adapted (no spoilers from beyond season 2 please).

Puck's... form - So we know that based on what Beatrice said, if the crystal is destroyed, Puck just returns to his true form, and we saw that that form is much more powerful, based on season 1.

That being the case, why does Puck continue to be in different crystals/smth? Wouldn't he have far higher combat ability as his true self anyway?

And there is the bit about him not even being able to manifest anymore with that crystal, which even more reason of why he didn't just go crystal-less to begin with?

Subaru's pact/bet with Roswaal - As far as I can see, there was nothing like a magical pact made. They just made a bet. And from what I hear, in the LN it even mentions that Roswaal questions how he can trust Subaru to keep his word.

Why would the magical thing be placed on Roswaal (or Subaru) when he lost the bet? They just made a verbal bet/promise.

Again though, no spoilers from beyond season 2.

Is Iska superhuman?

Having watched season 1, and kinda a bit of season 2, I mean, the stuff he does seem much more than just "regular guy with swords".

He even falls all the way from who knows what story of a building in the last of S2 I know (ep3) and just brushes off.

I mean, they say like the Sovereignity is supposed to have like superpowers and empire is mainly normal people, but he seems pretty superhuman too.

No spoilers though beyond season 2 episode 3.

KimiSen anime vs light novel

Especially for S2, how much detail missed? Should I just read the light novels for S2 instead of watching the anime?
