What did you all think about this event?

I remember when it first debuted in the 2nd half of Season 2; taking the place of Human Cannonball; part of the grid had different color rings that contenders would earn points on (5 for silver and 7 for red) if they were there when time ran out.

Sometimes you'd have exciting near misses, but too many times it seemed the contenders and gladiators would lose momentum and be stuck in place. I remember one Season 6 matchup involving Zap where she and the contender both couldn't regain momentum and the match was declared a No Contest.

Every so often, the gladiators would get DQS for grabbing the uniform or helmet, and the contenders would get 5 points. One match had a female contender get the full 10 points because a camera operator impeded her from stepping on the platform.

The master of this even was Turbo, only losing four times over the years: Coz Worthington in Season 3, Cliff Miller in Season 4, Kyler Storm and Daniel Cunningham in Season 6

What did you all think of him as a referee?

I always thought he did his job well, never tried to make it about himself. And there were times where he had no qualms about confronting over aggressive gladiators.

And when there was an infraction in an event (most often Powerball): blows whistle You're out of here Zap! We have a disqualification on Zap, forearm to the face

How many US Presidents have no living descendants?

By this I mean biological, not cousins/nieces/nephews, etc.

The ones I can think of off the top of my head are James Buchanan (who never married and had no children), Abraham Lincoln (his last descendant was his great grandson Robert Todd Lincoln Beckwith who died in 1985), Chester A. Arthur (last descendant was his grandson Chester A "Gavin" Arthur III who died in 1972), and George Washington (he had step children though)

What say you all about this season?

Yeah it's a slight step down from Season 3 (after the exodus of several gladiators in the 💰 dispute); but still OK.

Contenders were very good, event rotation was good. I'm wondering why they brought back Human Cannonball? Plus Super Powerball was only played 3 times.

As for the Gladiators, rumor was that Lace #2 was fired early on and replaced by Siren. Viper was booed every time he appeared; and I remember the sign Viper needs a diaper. Also why did Havoc and Cyclone only appear occasionally? Injury substitutes?

How many of us had that in either middle school or high school?

I always thought it was a good time.

Certain days I remember were school color days, costume day, pajama day, hat day (the only day of the school year where you could wear hats inside for most schools).

Anyone in this sub see either of the two shows that Clem Burke did as Elvis Ramone? (One was in Trenton, NJ; the other in Providence, RI).

The narrative was that he was quickly fired due to not being able to keep up with the tempo.

Now this one has one very convoluted backstory:

Former members of Yes formed ABWH (Jon Anderson, Bill Bruford, Rick Wakeman and Steve Howe) and released a self title album in 1989. They were having strained relations with each other and struggled to record a follow up album.

Meanwhile, Yes (at the time comprised of Chris Squier, Trevor Rabin, Tony Kaye and Alan White) were also struggling to record a follow up to their 1987 album Big Generator.

ABWH's label Arista Records suggested the group work with outside songwriters, but instead of that Jon Anderson contacted Trevor Rabin and this lead to Arista suggesting the two factions merge what they had written so far into one album.

However, the sessions were fractured: each group recorded their songs separately (with Jon Anderson providing vocals for all tracks) and studio musicians ended up replacing a good part of the work done.

Although the album was certified Gold and had a Mainstream Rock Tracks #1 song (Lift Me Up), the band members dislike the album; with Rick Wakeman admitting he threw a copy out of his limo.

This was the last real commercial success for Yes.

So let's talk about the stunts/skits from the franchise (movies, shows; which does include Viva La Bam, Bam's Unholy Union and WildBoyz) that legitimately made you cringe.

Here's mine:

1. How to Milk a Horse from Number 2. Even I had a look of disgust on my face when I saw it
2. Poo Cocktail Supreme from 3D. No wonder everyone puked! I was like ... 🤮
3. The Cup Test from Forever. Poor Ehren. I actually closed my eyes when they brought out the pogo stick. Supposedly, that made some audience members dry wretch
4. Human pretzel from Best & Last.

Remember when Howard County used to have the Vo Tech school?

As I recall, students who went there spent 1/2 day there after 1/2 at their regular school.
