Question on being baptized Protestant

I was baptized Lutheran, which was my mother’s religion before she converted to Catholicism. I have a faint memory of this because I was only 8, but when she converted my brother and I were up at the altar with her and through some sort of blessing I became Catholic as well. Or at least that’s how my parents explained it to me.

After that I went through all the traditional sacraments like communion, reconciliation and confirmation in the Catholic Church. I just wanted to post here to make sure this isn’t out of the ordinary and that there’s nothing off about my standing in the RCC.

For those of you who have manifested a job - how did you do it?

I've been out of work for 8 months now with no luck in finding a job. This is the longest I have ever been out of work, and I really need to find a new position. I have been trying to attract a job for about the last month and it's been a struggle. Any tips on how to bring the right job to me?

How do you maintain faith when prayers aren’t being answered?

I lost my job 7.5 months ago. I’ve been praying since then for a new one. Applied to 250 jobs. I have 14 years of experience in my field and a strong portfolio. Still waiting.

Unemployment has run out. I have savings but limited, then will have to start taking from my 401k to pay my mortgage and other bills. I am really struggling here and don’t know what to do. I feel so exhausted and drained that it’s starting to affect my faith. Now I’m even listening to this book called The Secret to manifest a job through positive thinking. I don’t really know what else to do at this point.

Edit: I keep seeing people saying that The Secret goes against Catholic doctrine. I'm not trying to replace God here or anything, or replace prayer with simply thinking.

Mark 11:22-24, states: "Have faith in God,” Jesus answered. Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours."

Based on this I'm not sure how believing something will happen for you contradicts doctrine and gospel if you believe God is also the leader in the process and you are still praying to him. I guess it comes down to how you interpret the lessons taught in the secret. I think it’s a lot more nuanced than people are taking it on the surface level of “playing God.” We are made in the image of God, and that includes consciousness. If we weren’t meant to utilize our consciousness, we wouldn’t have it.

The most terrifying thing to me in horror movies is hallucinations

I rewatched The Autopsy of Jane Doe last night for the first time in a while and it struck me that the scariest theme in a horror movie, at least for myself, is when the character completely hallucinates their entire reality. Other movies that do this super well are The Dark and the Wicked, 1408, and Oculus.

I don’t think anything is more scary for me. Everything around you could be real, couldn’t be, no one knows. So you have no idea what to do. At least in a typical slasher you can just get the fuck away from the killer. But when you don’t know what reality is you’re truly just stuck in the situation - horrifying.

Question on manifesting love vs job

I’m listening to a Q&A podcast with Rhonda Byrne and she says that you can’t manifest a relationship with a specific person. That makes sense. But then why do people say that you can manifest a job? Isn’t it kind of the same thing?

Keep seeing vastly differing opinions on Lake Mungo. Worth a watch?

I’m looking for something to watch tonight and was thinking about Lake Mungo. However, the sub seems very split on this movie. Is it actually scary? Is it worth watching? Looking for something that will really creep me out and I’m running out of options since I’ve seen so much and I’m pretty desensitized. No spoilers please obviously.

Edit: Just watched it. Incredibly boring and underwhelming. Felt like I was watching a docudrama not a horror. What a waste of time.

Trying to move from Apple Notes to OneNote, couple of things bugging me that I'm looking for help with

I'm on OneNote desktop app and a couple of things in the image are really bothering me.

  1. How do I reduce the huge space in between the page title and the body copy? When I click in there the cursor shows up and I can actually type in that space, but I can't figure out how to remove it. I would like the body copy to be moved up much closer under the title. I tried messing with the margin and page size setting but that didn't work.

  2. Is there any way to remove the arrow showing up in the left margin on every single damn line when I hover over them?

Need advice on using the law of attraction to find a job

I’m new to all this. Really going through a rough patch here. Been unemployed for 7 months after getting laid off in December. I have 14 years of experience in my field (marketing) and have never had this much difficulty finding work. I need some advice/support for attracting a job.

Thinking of donating, nervous about safety

Hey all, I’ve never donated plasma before but am considering it to help with bills while I am unemployed. I’ve never had a problem with needles themselves, but rather the safety and cleanliness of them in an environment like this. This sounds like an extremely irrational fear but I’m terrified of going to one of these clinics and somehow being exposed to HIV. Can someone help calm my mind around this? Are these clinics mostly all going to be very clean and safe?

Should I lie and just say I’ve been freelance consulting to cover up the last 7 months gap on my resume after being laid off in December?

Question in title. I’ve gotten interviews at about 6 companies during that time but I’m also guessing this gap has prevented me from getting interviews at other places as well. Would doing something like this help me get more interviews?

I CANNOT get Oblivion (original) to run on Windows 11 via Steam. Please help!

I've played Skyrim before but never Oblivion. I bought the Game of the Year edition (not the remastered version) on Steam because it was only $5 during their summer sale going right now. I've gone through like 2 hours of ChatGPT trying to help me get it to run on Windows 11 and nothing it suggests works. I've also tried looking at old threads from Steam and Reddit and none of those fixes work either. I don't even want to mod it, I just want to play the game. I know others are playing it so I know it can be done.

Does anyone have any suggestions for how I can play this damn thing? I am frustrated beyond belief right now. Please help me!

Need a new wireless PC controller $50 or under. ChatGPT is suggesting either the 8bitdo ultimate 2c or the GameSir Nova Lite. In USA.

I'm really split between these two. I really like using the Series X controller but mine are both breaking down after 6 years. I asked ChatGPT and it suggested the options of the 8bitdo Ultimate 2C or the GameSir Nova Lite.

I'm looking for wireless, hall effect, under $50, and triggers that feel much closer to the Series X controller than the PS5 - I hate the PS5 triggers and the way it overall feels in my hands. The triggers on PS5 have too much resistance for me compared to the Series X. I mainly play games like Forza Horizon, Skyrim, MLB The Show, Madden. I don't play first person shooters with it because I'm ass at aiming and shooting fast on a controller lol.

Which way would you go?

People taking 20-30 minutes or more for confession. It’s affecting others and you need to be more prepared or schedule separate time with a priest.

The last 2 times I’ve been to confession, people are really taking an excessively long time for confession. One elderly couple took around 40 minutes and there was only one priest. This is a problem when there are a dozen people in line and there is only an hour allotted. I’m assuming many others have experienced this situation as well.

If you’re going to confession, please examine your conscience beforehand and write down your sins so that we can all experience the sacrament, or schedule time outside the typical confession hours for a personal session. Taking this long is extremely selfish.

EDIT: some people in this thread seem to think I’m just “being impatient” or just want a “convenient” confession. Nope. I am far more worried about the souls of other people in line with me than with the time it takes. Not sure how that wasn’t clear from the post, but now I guess I need to provide clarification because of multiple people attacking me for wanting others to receive God’s grace so they can escape eternal damnation.

Am thinking about getting a Cyclone 2, are there full controller grip sleeves available?

I’m not seeing any grips on their website besides the sticks. Does anywhere else sell full controller grip sleeves for these or do people just go naked?
