Just bought my first VC, 4500v. Can’t wait!
Just picked this up off of r/watchexchange. https://www.reddit.com/r/Watchexchange/s/PGgPByrDIK Seller looks good and the price seems very reasonable. Still have my name on a list at a boutique for. 4520 and 7920 but I think this will do nicely!
Just put my name down for a 4250V
Just spoke with an SA (John) at the Chicago Boutique. Pleasant gentlemen. Explained I'm from out of state and would like to mark a milestone with the 4520v. Told me it would be about 2-3 years and that I'd need to put down a 40% deposit when it was a couple of months out. All in all a good experience and refreshing coming from the Rolex world!
4520v or 7920v if you already own a Rolex GMT?
I travel 3-4 times per year and typically wear my "Batman" if I'm going to a different time zone. I'm looking to purchase my first VC and am torn between the 4520 and the 7920. Anyone who has owned both, which did you prefer and why? I tend to like gmts but not sure in this case which watch I would prefer and if there is a longer wait for one or the other. Also thanks to all those who responded to my prior post about purchasing advice!
EDIT: Thanks for the replies. Based on them and what my gut is telling me I'll be going for a 4520V
EDIT: Called the Chicago boutique (closest to me) and put my name down for the 4520v. Told 2-3 year wait. I’m a patient guy so no biggie.
Advice for purchasing first VC (4520V blue dial)?
I'm celebrating my 25th wedding anniversary next summer. My wife and I live in Michigan and the closest boutique is in Chicago. I've collected mainly Panerai, Rolex, Omega, and Grand Seiko but never one of the "holy trinity" and think the Overseas looks beautiful, especially since I have a thing for blue dialed watches. My question is how do I go about purchasing one? Should I call or email the boutique in Chicago and explain the situation, go grey, make an appointment at the boutique in Chicago? I'm tired of the Rolex games and really have no interest in starting to play another game like that which it seems VC doesn't do. I have searched this forum but found differing opinions so any suggestions are appreciated. Thank you!
How many of us have been able to get the watch we wanted at an AD without having to buy a bunch of stuff we didn’t want?
I feel fortunate that so far the only Rolexes and watches I’ve gotten at an AD are the ones I’ve asked for, but I’ve had a conversation where basically I’ve been told that now I need to purchase other watches or jewelry to be able to get the next Rolex I’d like. I understand this is how the game is played but I also understand that it doesn’t sit well with me at all and I’ve got the very real option to go grey. Good thing I’m a patient guy and I’m willing to just see what happens.
What caused this pattern on the visor print?
Was it the infill settings? I’m talking about the arcs that are seen when backlit. Thanks! Translucent Petg
Physicians here, do you wear your Rolex(es) while seeing patinets?
I'm a family doc who has been practicing for the past 20+ years. I used to wear my Rolex and Panerais for the first 10 years I was in practice. Got diagnosed with afib, started wearing an Apple Watch and then decided to wear that exclusively while seeing patients. After COVID I pretty much only wear scrubs and also I'm in the Detroit Metro area where the economy fluctuates frequently. It's easier to come across as empathetic while wearing a smart watch than hearing about a patient who lost their job while wearing a $10,000 plus watch. I'm curious if other docs here wear their Rolexes or other luxury watches while seeing patients or stick with something simple and wear the other watches while not working. No judgement here, just genuinely curious.
Did the casting director intend for most of the cast to be shorter then James Gandolfini to give him more gravitas?
He was around 6’1” which is tall but in the show he seems to tower over most of the other characters. Was this done on purpose to make him appear more menacing or just a happy coincidence?
When did the whole "List" and forming a "relationship" with an AD become a thing?
On another post I made, I asked about prior purchase experiences when you could just walk or call a AD and get a watch https://www.reddit.com/r/rolex/comments/1uwaxjj/whats_your_it_used_to_be_easy_to_get_a_rolex_at/ . As recently as 2018-2019 people said they were able to do so. So when did this all change and did it have to do with COVID and the stimulus injections into the US economy? What was the impetus of the changes and when did they really start?
Looks like we’re posting SP5s and GMTs today
Form 1 just came in.
It seems like 99% of the mafia guys have pretty lousy lives and standards of living, do they see Tony and Johnny Sac as the pinnacle of mob life?
Most of these guys have pretty shitty lives and average living conditions. Is it the power and quick money that keeps them in this life and do they all aspire to be a top guy or is it mostly about feeling respected and having power?
Keep getting kicked out while answering questions.
What a shit show. Hoping the 2 hr 15 min timer resets every time.
What's your "It used to be easy to get a Rolex at an AD" story?
Mine is this, back in 2003 I was in my medical training as a resident and had seen a pepsi GMT on my honeymoon in Maui on Miguel Ferrer sitting next to us on the beach at the Four Seasons. I thought to myself that that looked like an awesome watch and I'd like to have one. Fast forward 6 or 7 months later I had saved up enough money, asked on Rolexforums, if anyone knew a dealer that had one instock. I called the dealer, got a 10% discount, and he shipped it brand new to my home. Like a dummy I sold it 4-5 years later but I miss those good old days, lol.
Suddenly Chrome is showing I'm in Tilburg, Tivoli when I'm actually in a suburb of Detroit.
Suddenly Chrome is showing I'm in Tilburg, Tivoli when I'm actually in a suburb of Detroit. When using Edge on my windows machine, it shows the correct location. I've deleted history, cookies, files, etc, restarted my computer. Any idea what's happening and how to fix?
What holster for the prime radian?
I read that holsters for the mc9 prime would work so I ordered a Tulster off of Amazon, but the pistol won’t fit unless I really shove it in there and it’s difficult to remove even when loosening the screws. Has anyone found a holster that works well so far?
Why the Sgba443 has bracelet dimples and the 413 doesn’t according to Joe Kirk
Got to ask Joe Kirk why my new 443 has dimples and the 413 doesn’t today. His answer was that although the watches are identical (except for that), they are created on different production lines for the bracelet and the tooling used for the bracelet for the 443 adds the dimples. I didn’t get to press him further on it but he mentioned the polishing, dial, movement, etc are all the same for the rest of the watches. Have to admit, I kind of like that the 443 is unique because of that.
Great experience today with Grand Seiko and Teddy Baldassarre in Cleveland today!
Wonderful non GS9 event today! Seems like it followed the format for the recent GS9 club event from a few days ago. Nice swag, cool watches, great people, and excellent panels. Thanks Teddy and Grand Seiko for making an excellent event! Also a great excuse to wear my new Shunbun that I picked up in Kyoto 3 weeks ago!
Made a stand to hold the pens I bought in Japan
Took 3 days to print but I think it turned out pretty good!
