Started working 15 hours a day and I feel exhausted.

I managed to get a second job after so long. Management worked around the schedule of ny first job. I don't drive so the commute is also longer.

Basically I wake up at 4:30 am, catch the bus to start my shift at 6 am. I leave around 11:30 am and catch the bus to go to my second job at 1 pm. The bus towards that direction is every 30 mins, so I have to make sure to catch it. Therefore no time between to buy food. I work until 9:30 pm there and rush out immediately because last bus comes at 9:36 pm. I get back home around 11:10 pm and sleep. And repeat.

Been doing it for the last 2 weeks in order to pay off my bills and everything. I start my fall semester at the end of the month and I know this will not work out. First job gets slow during fall and winter since it's a hotel by the ocean. Second job thinks I will continue with 5 days. During last fall I only had the first job and they cut my hours so I can be at school. I ended up getting in debt and utilizing all of my cards because the money was barely anything. I don't want to go through that again.

What can I do?

Why so many bitter older women?

I have 2 jobs and just got the second job, this is my third week. I apologize for over-generalizing but I see the same type of employees, especially in hospitality. Older women in their 50s-60s, typically blonde, most likely former aspiring actresses/models (I live in LA) where they act all sweet and then backstab. For some reason this type of employee can never stand me. They can't control me and try to make my work life tough.

At job 1, the same type of lady is super sweet to other employees, making them coffee, lending them money and rubbing the shoulders of a few of them like a massage. She told me straight to my face she can't stand me and thinks that all of these employees are her little HS clique. Meanwhile she is talking negative behind their backs, she was complaining how Mexicans get all the jobs and even about me going to community college, how immigrants should be paying more money to attend.

At job 2, I am constantly being followed by this employee who gossips about everyone and only has bad things to say. I go for lunch and she comes to the break room pretending that she is cleaning (she is a housekeeper) so she can talk and ask me for personal info. One of the complaints is about her housekeeping team, how everyone speaks Spanish and can't stand it. Meanwhile she tried to criticize me and hates my direct coworkers. My direct coworkers avoid her and told me they want to do nothing with her.

Like, how do you deal with these kind of people? It seems they always hate me.

Tired of getting jobs where I have to be asked to do dishes or take out trash.

I am in my 30s. Yeah I have no skills and decided to go to community college but I have a 4.0 GPA though. Throughout all of my life I only got jobs at fast food, gas stations and in hospitality rwhere I get the less desirable jobs with less tips. Never a promotion. I live in Los Angeles so most people in hospitality are aspiring actors or models. They get the 'good' positions and they are never asked to do much of extra work or asked to help with dishes.

Every job I get whether thats 'breakfast attendant' or 'in-room dining server' I am always being asked to wash dishes, take heavy trash out, even though there are people for these duties. As a first-generation immigrant, I feel that has been partially a reason.

Like today. I work as a breakfast server at a small hotel. I have a coworker who is constantly does no show no call, comes in late as much as an hour, gets an equal portion of the tips. Management decided to send him home today, on one of the busiest days because he came in late. They didn't send him home on a Tuesday that's less busy. Now it's Saturday morning and management didnt order coffee, prep cooks didn't prepare enough stuff for me to display and just having guests being rude. Chef said he will help and has dissappeared.

I was so hoping to get an internship but seems community college students don't get anything.

Prettt women won't be asked to take trash or do dishes

Every freaking job I have been getting, whether is server, breakfast attendant, runner, I end up being asked to wash dishes. The pretty hostess for example will never be asked to. Sorry I just don't like doing dirtt dishes everyday.

I just got a new job as an in-room dining server. I am being asked to do dishes everyday as part of my duties (I have to clean all of the pots that cooks also use) and even do housekeeping. Meanwhile the pretty and very skinny girls do front desk or hostess and can be very polished and won't be asked to do any of that. There is a bitter older lady in her 50s who is housekeeper and she is not necessarily ugly but she is probably not young enough for those positions such as hostess. And I live in Los Angeles where looks ans youth are being prioritized.

Just venting because every hospitality position I am getting is not a desirable one.

Zero friends.

Was bullied as a kid. Later I had one friend. After two years or so, she made another friend. Moved on.

Many years later as an adult; I get jobs. People become friends, hang out, date. The whole 'workplace is not for friends' is complete BS. Never get invited to coworkers hangouts. I talk and we are in good terms and nothing.

I wss hoping to become friends with these 2 other women and they are always busy. Yet they go to places on their IG stories. Tired of showing so much interest to people.

I decided to go to college in my 30s. Nobody talks there either.

I volunteer. I get people talking but they dont want to do anything outside of volunteering. And many have significant others.

I am feeling depressed and hopeless. I have been an orphan and traumatized.

Got a second job at a place where the rich stay and it amazes me how much they spend.

Well i am glad I got a second job as room service and I can pay my debt now. Its a small, luxury resort and people pay about 3k a night. Management expects perfect service, like even a small water glass spill could have the guests complaining. Guests are treated like royalty. Some of these guests are young couple and makes me wonder what the heck they do to be able to afford nights there. Saw this couple spending $210 for breakfast and about $350 for dinner in 1 day.

What's worse is, that we don't get paid as much and while there is a service charge fee, it doesnt go to us. And none of these rich guests leave any tips. Seeing that makes me feel so inferior.

Do most people have no goals?

I've been working in the hospitality industry and I've noticed people don't do much outside of work, unless it's party/go to bars with some coworkers and other people.

Not trying to brag but I dedided to go to college and balance work and school. I am also in a few coalitions trying to achieve shared goals. And when I can, I also travel to places to explore. One coworker asked about my life and he seemed surprised or so. I asked him in return and he told me he doesnt really has anything going on like goals or things he wants to do, just work is enough. Another coworker and I had some chit chat and I told her about trying to start environmental action on a specific issue and I could tell I sounded 'boring.'

Do most people have no goals and interests outside of working? Like I told a few of them I am in school and they said 'yuck'.

There is way too many beautiful people out there.

Might be because I live in California but I've been to other places and I've seen lots of beautiful people above average.

Like when I was in high school, it was only a few girls who were considered beautiful (at least in the 2000s). Now it seems even teenagers have fillers and perfect skin. I got really bad acne around 17. Other people in school had it too. I rarely see anyone with acne anymore.

Weight is another factor. I always had a lot of weight around my midsection but other girls did back in school too. Almost every girl I see nowadays is a size 0-4 and they have flat stomachs. Even when I was like 18-19, I was never able to have one.

Anyways it makes it extremely hard nowadays to find someone due to all of these beautiful people around.

Tried for a second time to get this position.

Back in February I applied on Indeed at this hotel that was looking for a front desk position and was paying decently. The hotel manager reached out to me and we scheduled a Zoom meeting. Well, he never showed up so I emailed him. He apologized and said he forgot to put the interview on his calendar. He liked me and said he would send me a request from ADP to make an account there and process with the application. After that, he dissappeared. I sent him an email asking for updates and nothing.

A week ago I saw the job on Indeed again. I decided to reach out to him. His reply was fast and asked to interview again. It wasnt a 'real' interview but he said he just wanted to go through the same information again and how the person he hired before ended up quitting. For some reason he thought we had an in-person interview, when we didn't...but I didn't say anything. He ended up sending me a background check that I completed. Its been a week now and havent heard yet. Is it weird to be going through all of this? I feel like it's too many red flags already.

How to deal with nosy coworkers who are also obsessed with their job?

I have been tolerating this woman for nearly 3 years now and I stay at this hotel job because of a higher raise I got. Although I got a new job offer. This woman is almost 60 and from the first day she was hired, she tried to get me fired since I was the full-time employee and she was part-time. She started fabricating stories playing the victim and crying and trying to be super sweet to the other employees by making them coffee. If other employees talk to me, she will try to talk to them as much as she can to be friend them. She always tries to emphasize her importance about how much she loves the place and everyone yet tries to backstab the people she doesn't like, like she has already accused my other coworker for theft. She even works off the clock to prove that she loves the place.

After I realized she was a snake, I stopped the personal interactions. I decided to go to school last year and she was pissed because apparently she had to pay for her kids to go to school but an immigrant such as myself gets to go for free somehow.

She has been trying to get information out of me like what I do on my off days, what other gigs I work, where I travel to. The other day she said she was at my school campus and she was chatting with faculty and she was hoping to see me and what a nice campus is. I was wtf who told her about my school? I told a few coworkers which school I am attending but it seems nobody at work keeps a secret.

Does having status makes it easier to date?

Since its FIFA time it seems every soccer player (attractive or not) has some gf. Typically an influencer or model. Many of these players were not popular before FIFA started.

Like, is it within the circle? I've also noticed many of these athletes go for women who are into modeling.

Coworker has been bothering me for almost 3 years.

I am staying at this job because I got a raise that's way much more than min wage + tips but I have to tolerate this coworker. When she was first almost 3 years ago (we had a different management) she tried to get me in trouble with management reporting that I was trying to hook her up with male employees there and she started crying hysterically. All I did was just chatting with some male employees I was getting along with but she wanted to be the center of attention, so. She started talking bad of me and yet be 'friends' with everyone at this hotel. It's kind of ironic, she is still acting nice towards me and then backstabs me.

There is another one worker in our department but we only work 2 people per shift. She has been hating on that coworker now since she stopped talking to him and has been trying to accuse him for theft. The other day she tried to get me in trouble for not telling the manager an issue that I was resolving by myself. Then she acted like she didnt know anything. I was a little sick the last 3 days with a sore throat and now she got sick and couldn't come in. She complained in the workplace chat that I was sick and they shouldn't have let me work.

She always emphasizes how much she does for the hotel and how many friends she has, ugh. She is an older woman almost 60.

So many couples know each other since HS.

I was on another sub, r/PastAndPresentPics and people post their story and it seems many of these people were childhood friends who ended up getting married. It amazes me how they got together in their teens and they are still strong in their 30s.

I asked on this one sub and people started telling me that opposites appear close to each other and they meet and some other success stories that I don't understand.

Meanwhile I can't even get a date.

I'm feeding a colony and found the kitten dead on the sidewalk...

I'm feeling so awful since I just saw it. It was a stray kitten and I was feeding it the past days. The mom has disappeared for a couple of days. The rest of the cats are fine.

I wish I could have saved it. It wouldn't let me get any close but kept meowing loudly. Now I am worried about all the cats there..

Coworker shows up whenever with no consequences

I work for a hotel and once again my coworker didnt show up Said he overslept and informed management after. He was done that more than 4 times. He always comes about 30 mins-1 hour late and expects to get half of the tips. He calls out almost every week saying that his relatives are sick or died. He has mentioned uncle, aunt, three grandmothers/grandfather's. My other coworker is pissed too. I heard he was written up before but he still get houts and he was getting more hours before. Like if they cut hours, it was from me, not him.

It was very busy today and did everything by myself. Nobody from the kitchen helped. Manager came in later and was informed but didn't care much. If I were to walk out, this place would burn. I know management doesnt care about our area since its insignificant but why does my coworker gets away with so much?

I

I'm working a 4th of July party. Easy job. However it made me realize how ugly I look. I am just wearing a shirt and black pants.. I am bussing and taking trash and everyone here is gorgeous.. Flat tummies, skinny, pretty clothes and most have blonde hair. Most of them are probably influencers.

On the other hand my hair are black and flat, acne scars, overweight and pale. I don't even understand why I can't get skinny, always carried a lot of weight around my tummy. I walk a lot and eat once and still can't get a.flat tummy. Somehow most women here in Los Angeles have a flat tummy.
