[L] I just want to be conventionally attractive

always want to get into acting. No luck at all, not even for 1 line. At one point I realized it was my looks since acting teachers would ignore me and friends I made wouldn't cast me into anything. Back then I used to think its my foreign accent but no, if you are beautiful, they will cast you even if you are unable to speak English.

I grew up in Europe. When I was a kid, I had a friend who was a child actor on a TV series. I was jealous. I kept asking my family to take me to agencies. No agency showed interest in me. He still gets parts and yeah he had a lot of fangirls.

I had another friend. She wasn't actress but she was always dating. She was rarely single and she was like 15-16. Out of curiosity, I tried to find out what happened to her, I don't live in Europe anymore. I was shocked to see that she is an actress! Done some TV stuff and she is performing at a theater. I was shocked because she was never really into that.

I asked Chatgpt. It told me that those old friends of mine are conventionally attractive and photogenic and its unfair to compare myself to them. Here what it said about them:

"Your friends appear to have more of: natural photogenic ease facial relaxation approachable warmth and “camera harmony.”

Your face has: stronger angles more emotional tension less softness in expression heavier seriousness around the eyes and less natural camera openness. That makes you less: instant-commercial-photogenic."

Anyone else is being called bitter or a bad person for saying good-looking people get better jobs?

I live in Los Angeles. I made a topic saying that I have coworkers who were promoted into managers quickly with barely any experience. Many of them didn't even go to college. And I added that all of them had the same look, lots of filler, botox, usually dyed blonde hair, etc. I was instantly called bitter and just an awful person and even misogynistic for saying so. I am a woman myself and I don't look like these women who get promoted... I also can't afford it.

So why am I so bad?

What are the qualifications to be a food and beverage manager?

I live in Los Angeles and it seems many of these restaurant managers are just there... for good looks mostly. I tried to get a position as a manager before (I have years of hospitality experience) but I decided to go to school and study. I still work for a hotel in the food and beverage department while I am studying.

There is a new manager at my workplace and she is in her mid 20s or so, lots of lip filler, botox. The previous manager looked identical also. I checked the LinkedIn profiles of these employees and they are just HS graduates. Does looking a certain way gets you a position at these restaurants?

Anyone else gets excluded a lot?

I work in hospitality, specifically at a hotel and worked at other hotels/restaurants too. I never managed to make friends. Employees in this industry always hang out to drink and do favors for each other. I have been nice and respectful but they don't care about me.

I have two coworkers who are trying to anything that a hotel employee asks for and pretty sure they are doing it for validation. We have a barista machine in my section and will try to make coffee for many employees even though management told them not to. I make a coffee here and there if an employee asks me directly but I dont want other employees to keep asking everyday, we are not even supposed to give away free lattes.

Then they say stupid jokes with offensive content to each other. Guaranteed I would get in trouble if I expressed myself so, almost did before. A few days ago I was chatting with the valet guy a bit and one of my coworkers told the manager about it and had the manager giving me a warning about it.

One of the employees is asking for money. He asked me, I said I can't. My two coworkers offered him money so he is on their good side now.

I am excluded but maybe its better that way to be isolated from the workplace?

Can't get a server job

I work for a hotel in LA as a breakfast server. Its a small section and right now its very slow, so I barely make anything. I have been trying since November to get another server job. I apply as a busser/runner too. Nothing. My former boss that I was in bad terms with opened a new restaurant and he just hired people he worked with before and liked. So I am assuming most places do that here. Most interviews seem fake.

I don't know what else to do. I decided to go to college but it take years to ger a career job.

Years ago I moved to LA and struggled my whole time here. I was hoping to get opportunities like others do. I went to a few classes that were expensive and no constructive feedback by the teachers. Teachers only cared about students with agents that can book stuff and take credit for these students to market their studio.

Anyways, audition after audition... I started doing this around 2017 in another state and I booked less than 10 low budget projects. Meanwhile I've met other actors and they always book. Or just consistently. I had friends who made shorts and they never asked me to be part of, so I started realizing I am not the person for this industry.

I decided to go back to school. I am a high-achiever with honors. A few weeks ago, I randomly decided to apply to some auditions, they are self-tapes after all. I got like 5 audition requests. I felt excited because I haven't done it in so long. I auditioned and again nothing. I also have a foreign accent that been trying to eliminate with no luck.

Even though I am in school majoring something else, I can't help it but feel so jealous seeing people around me booking, yet I can't book a few lines role on a student film.
