What herb is this
I forget who dropped this off at my house but it smells like chicory/coffee/chocolate. Any guesses?
A real example of our bulk Amanita mushrooms
Here is an actual example of a satisfied customer with their Grade B muscaria order. I think this was 5 or 10 oz.
Some of you may have seen last week a reddit user made a vulgar post complaining about the quality of our grade B mushrooms. That post was taken down due to some of their comments being so vulgar that reddit auto removed them, also multiple reddit accounts reached out to me saying they private messaged the OP and either didn't get any response or received a rude reply.
I can't even verify this was an actual customer of mine. Since they made it public before asking for a resolution with me, I publicly posted I will replace your B grade with A grade free of charge. To this, I got no reply. They never shared a name, address, order number, items ordered etc.
This was pretty upsetting to me because obviously its public slander. But more than that I and we at Harmony Acres just want to serve our customers well. This was either a bad actor, or a missed opportunity for a positive resolution.
We had a previous employee who may have not packed a bag correctly, and shipped out some powder. Or it could've just been not a real customer. I am not handling all our orders now as the business has grown beyond me.
I don't know where it went wrong, but I never got the opportunity to make it right.
But I still take all the criticism personally.
A flaw, yes, I am trying to work on.
That shows how much I care.
I'm not trying to make this a humble brag, a sales pitch, or a whoah is me pity party. I'm just sharing my truth and wanting to be heard by a reddit community I really appreciate.
Thanks to the users who reached out to me and affirmed their appreciation of our products and services and for their loyalty, and thanks to the moderators that eventually removed that toxic post.
Thanks to the thousands of customers who continue to come back over these last 10 years (yeah we've been in business for a decade, crazy to think that).
Here are the reviews for my store, keep in mind this is only what has synced since this past year when we moved to shopify. We have been in business for over 10 years and had multiple websites through out that time.
Here are the reviews on our actual website for the grade B mushrooms:
Thank you and BE BLESSED!

Harvest/transplanting beebalm
Lets plant some beebalm!
When i see a road side native pollinator about to get mowed, I go into action.
Monarda didyma is native to my area, it feeds local wildlife like swallowtail butterfy and hummingbirds.
It can be made into a tea to help with digestion issues. It can be used topically as an anti-septic and helps calm skin problems.
It is in the mint family, lamiaceae.
Soothing, calming, cooling.. this fragrant delicious plant keeps coming back every year. I can't wait to see it spread my home and welcome some more wildlife.

Bats + guano contamination in log cabin ceiling — is this tongue-and-groove decking structural? Trying to figure out removal without compromising the roof
Hey all — looking for some real-world input before I commit to (very expensive) contractor quotes.
I have a ~50-year-old log cabin in Western PA. Interior is all wood, no drywall. We've got bats living inside the ceiling assembly on both sides of the house, and the guano/urine contamination is causing a strong odor and likely contributing to mold growth (we've already got visible mold in places, separate ERMI testing in progress).
My understanding of the ceiling assembly: long tongue-and-groove boards were laid directly across/over the roof beams before the roof itself went on — not butted up against the beams as interior paneling added afterward. That makes me think these boards may actually be functioning as structural roof decking, not just interior finish.
My questions:
Is T&G decking laid across beams before the roof typically structural in cabins built this way, or could there still be separate sheathing above it that I'm not accounting for?
If it is structural, what's the right way to remove/replace contaminated sections without compromising the roof — is this a "cut and sister in new boards" job, or does it require full engineering/rebuild in that area?
Has anyone dealt with combined bat exclusion + contaminated wood removal + mold remediation in a log home? Trying to figure out the right order of operations (exclusion → removal → mold remediation, in that sequence, seems right to me but wanted to sanity check).
Any advice on vetting contractors for this — we've gotten quotes ranging from a local company (~$4,800, doesn't include board/insulation removal) to specialists flying in from Florida and New York for inspection alone running into the thousands. Feels like we might be overpaying for "specialist" branding.
Photos of the ceiling attached for reference. Appreciate any input — trying to be careful not to make an expensive mistake by DIYing something I shouldn't, but also not wanting to get quoted into the ground either.

Hobbling around with my baby finding mushrooms
Found a fresh dyers polypore
Dyer's polypore (Phaeolus schweinitzii) is a beautiful polypore mushroom that is used to dye clothing material. It can provide over 3 distinct colors depending on how often it is used.

Shop bvv quality went down hill
Anyone else notice that Shop BVV equipment has gotten thinner and cheaper over the years? I bought all parts for a 15L reflux reactor 5 years ago and was impressed with it. Last year I bought all the same parts and everything is much thinner and cheaper. Functions almost identically the same but instead of two joint tri clamp the switches to one joint. All the hand turn parts are thinner, hurt my fingers a little more. I recently bought a 15L jacketed base and had to get a new one sent out because the inside was all dinged up and marred.
Any one else go with USA Labs? I'm curious on a new supplier for an upcoming 150L jacketed vessel reflux reactor I will be buying.

I do not make posts like this lightly. After weeks of patience, multiple attempts to resolve this privately, and complete silence on her end, I feel it is my responsibility to the community to share this experience.
What happened:
I paid Natali (VATAMANIUK NATALIIA) $1,045.81 USD via Wise for a mushroom order. The package was shipped, intercepted by customs, and returned to her. I have full documentation — payment receipts, tracking history, and our complete WhatsApp conversation.
From the moment the package was returned, I made it clear I needed either a resend or a full refund. I was patient. I gave her every opportunity to make it right. I sent multiple messages over several weeks. She went completely silent.
Why I am posting this:
As the curator of the community vendors list and someone who has been in this space for years, I have a responsibility to protect other buyers. I stayed quiet for weeks to give her the chance to resolve this like a professional. She chose not to respond.
This is not personal. This is about protecting this community from losing hard-earned money to someone who takes payment and disappears when things go wrong.
Natali has been removed from the vendors list effective immediately.
If you have had a similar experience with this supplier, please share in the comments. If you are currently in a transaction with her, I would advise caution.
I will update this post if the situation is resolved.
Harvesting fully matured Ganoderma tsugae
Ganoderma tsugae, like Ganoderma lucidum has been shown to have greater medicinal content when harvest fully mature post-sporulation. Tsugae may not have as many spores, so its often overlooked unlike lucidum where they actually will scoop up heeps of spores.

It shouldn't be overlooked, these mushrooms can be utilized to their highest potential as a healing ally. Check this video and see the big brown dusty spore print these beauties put out.

"In post-spore-release fruiting bodies of G. tsugae, the main active components of triterpenoids and polysaccharides were significantly higher"

how to help friend in manic episode
I have a friend who has been in and out of hospitals due to manic bipolar 1 episodes over the last 16 years. He has a wife and toddler, two weeks ago he went to the hospital, self admitted, and they kept him there on drugs for a period of time but then released him. He still wasn't fully ok, but he wasn't a "danger to himself or others" so they released him. A day went by and stuff happened at home, and he proceeded to stay awake for 48 hrs and drove to another state (like 18 hrs drive) somehow managed to not die. Then he got pulled over after reckless driving, and a nice cop gave him a ticket and didn't arrest him for driving at criminal speeds thru construction zones. He got 302'd at this hospital and finally he called me.
\
He trusts me, and doesn't believe I have ill will, and I am like 1 of 2 people he actually will open up to.
\
He thinks he is the messiah, and he is here to help in a holy war. And thats apparently more important than taking care of his family.
\
He refuses medication. But will go to hospitals during episodes. But as time goes on he thinks more and more that mania is a myth, he doesn't need help, and that this is his spiritual awakening. He wants to isolate himself on a family's property nearby, but it doesn't look like that family member will even go for it.
\
I tried to reason with him about the messiah stuff but he is convinced. He's far away, and the hospital is doing the best they can but his behavior there has forced them to keep him in the ER because he was aggressive.
\
I wish I could help him more, but I know my limits. Open to any feedback. Thnx.
