After a couple days with the pocket, I don’t understand the d-pad complaints

Yes it isn’t as good as Nintendo d-pads, but I was able to beat Pokemon puzzle challenge with no issue whatsoever on the hardest difficulty, and this is a game that demands fast and precise movements with the d-pad. It may be a little loose-feeling, but it’s not nearly as bad as people were making it out to be.

Side note, it took over three weeks for this to arrive, but I’m really loving it so far, the screen looks amazing.

Probably not, but is this worth anything more than face value? I know nothing about value with bills.

All I know is star notes are more valuable, but I also know this is a high serial number and the condition isn’t good. Just curious really, thank you!

Some goodies from the mail

Been wanting a vinyl copy of water curses for awhile and found a good deal for one, they also had spirit so it only made sense to snatch that too.

Knowing my luck, they’ll announce a water curses repress next week lol.

Best transcoder for VGA monitor?

Preferably I’d like to use composite, s-video, and component on this, but what options are out there? This monitor is VGA only so it’s currently just a Dreamcast setup.

I’m assuming there’s an anti-glare filter on this CRT, it’s got some spots on the screen like this, how would I go about removing the filter?

It was hard to get a decent picture of it, it’s more noticeable in-person. I wiped down the screen to see if it was a smudge and it wasn’t. Is it worth trying to peel the filter off?

Anyone here ever try ear tubes for their ETD symptoms?

Normally my ETD symptoms are mild when I take my allergy meds, but the weather has been so humid the past couple weeks that it’s really messing with me, I just feel constant fluid draining, and I know it’s not post-nasal drip because that really irritates my throat and the tube fluid doesn’t.

I’ve been pretty against trying anything ear-related just out of fear of making something worse, but man it’s so annoying. Not to mention I would like to try getting on a plane as my H has improved enough to where I feel like I could tolerate it with some headphones, but it’s the constant popping and occasional pressure changes that worry me.

Finally got a copy for a good price!

Really excited to play this one! Anyone here beat it?

The other “grail” is here

The Dreamcast’s very own “butcher” cover! It’s comical how bad the clean cover is pasted on there, there’s hot glue residue on the front and back of the manual.

Even though it’s rare, it’s still not my personal grail, I won’t rest until I find that not for retail power stone…

FedEx sucks lol

Not sure if there’s any other people in the DFW area in this sub, but this now the third (and fourth) time that FedEx has just lost the plot in the Dallas location. I have two separate orders from analogue that were supposed to arrive on the 11th and 12th, both dates have passed, and now there’s currently no shipping date.

Back in March, unrelated to this, I ordered two separate things and both were shipped through FedEx. The same thing happened, it was going well until it hit the Dallas facility, and then no updated date. Both sellers refunded me, and I just moved on, and then a month later in April, both items just arrived out of the blue. I was really hoping this wasn’t going to happen again, but that’s what it seems like is the case.

Anyone else having issues with shipment?

Anyone else enjoy sitting down and folding protectors for their games

In a way, it feels like a moment of catharsis, sitting down just enjoying the physical games themselves, folding up the protectors. Sure they aren’t necessary, neither are record sleeves, but I use those as well, it’s just the nagging feeling that these games that are “valued” more, should have a case. I’d definitely say for cardboard boxes they are almost a must, but these aren’t as important.

Any recommendations for a component cable?

Playing on an OLED, so the black borders are how black it should be on the image, but as you can see, it looks pretty washed out. Using one of those aresenal component boxes, and the image itself looks decent, but not very vibrant.

The “grail” of Dreamcast games arrived today!

Currently collecting the whole North American library of released Dreamcast games and was able to snag this up! This technically doesn’t count in the set as it wasn’t a retail release, but it’s been on my want list for a while now. That “limited edition” text makes it quite expensive lol.

What is “complete in box” to you?

As long as I have the manual and the box, that’s really all I need. Having the original inserts with a game is nice too, but it’s not worth paying extra for in most cases. Now if it’s a game where it was supposed to come with a map, then I won’t consider it complete until I get that back, but promo fliers I don’t mind missing. What is crazy to me is seeing how people pay for just the registration card, I don’t get that lol. I saved a good amount of money on popful mail just because it was missing that, nothing off my back.

Finally have a working model 1, but it feels like it’s going to break just by looking at it wrong

It’s been serviced and recapped, but games on this compared to the model 2 seem to chug a bit more and take longer to load. I spent a bit of money on the repair, so I hope it’ll last me awhile.

Can anyone else compare load times between this and the model 2?

Picked this up today, but not sure what to make of it yet

It’s a 27" Seleco SMV-290, and while it is working, the SCART image is pretty dim, even when adjusting the knobs. The composite signal is noticeably brighter though. Retrace lines can be seen when no display is on, but can’t be seen with gameplay. The SCART looks very clean, just dim… I’ve only tried the SCART input with the genesis as that’s all I have for SCART, I’m assuming it could be a cable issue as it was just a generic cable, but also could be a CRT issue. I’d love to get it working better, but there is also a possibility it has high hours, as this was used in a museum display. I’m considering also just letting it go if I feel like I can’t fix it on my own. I work overnights so I really only had time to bring it home, try it, then go to sleep so didn’t do much with it yet.

Also never seen a 9-pin RGB input like that, what is that used for?
