Caste exists so reservation exists
That's backwards. Illogical.
Caste survived for centuries as a social identity. The modern Indian State turned it into a permanent legal identity. Today, you can change your religion, your ideology, your profession, even your nationality. But the one identity you're born with, caste, has no legal exit.
If the goal is a casteless society, why is the State ensuring caste never dies? >!Reservation is a political tool!<
2026 Telangana caste survey found that 3.4% of people claimed no caste affiliation, and around 88% of them were from the General category. Thousands of people are trying to reject caste, yet the State refuses to recognise that choice. Birth matters more than individual will. >!SC/STs won't give caste, they are benefited from it!<
Social prejudice fades over time. The State shouldn't freeze it into bureaucracy.
The biggest obstacle to a casteless society isn't that people remember caste. It's that the State refuses to forget it.
