Why is top lane so unpopular in 2026?

I'm a GM mid laner that plays top as a subrole. For most of 2026, I simply don't get autofilled anymore at the expense of playing top often because it's one of the most low priority queues next to support - even more than jungle now.

That's helped me climb smoothly but for most people, why is it so unpopular now?

Veteran players, can you return to S3 Singed?

League classic is slated to be set around the S3 mark. This means Singed will be in his pre-ASU state.

Even with the sheer amounts of gameplay knowledge advancements now being applied to this era, can you imagine playing Singed there now? This Singed has no Grounding, no W root, no Grievous on R, a passive that scales off mana when we don’t buy mana items.

I’m not gonna list the Q auto CSing since that’s contentious but just consider everything else stripped down.

Oikonny sticks out like a sore thumb in the remake

In the remake, I like the fact three of the four members of Star Wolf align closely to one another aesthetically. They all look like hardened outlaws and wear black leather with spiked shoulder pads.

But then there's Oikonny, who doesn't look grungy at all and wears a luxurious bright gold jumpsuit.

Fox's attitude in the 2026 game is disturbingly unheroic

Fox McCloud is supposed to be a hero fans of Nintendo look up to but in the Switch 2 game and its expanded narrative, he constantly reminds General Pepper of his pay day before doing anything and is pretty rude to him in general. In the opening and numerous scenes, he implies that if he wasn't compensated enough, he wouldn't have involved himself against Andross and that he needs to be paid for anything he does good (I would have almost taken down Star Wolf for free). Even up to the final battle, he reminds Andross it's just a job the team was hired for than any personal condemnation against his evil.

So that means he would've probably been fine letting a dictator take over the galaxy if the money wasn't there since he doesn't live grounded in the Lylat System, and might have even taken jobs for said dictator if he did become Emperor of all per new economy.

That's not a hero. That's a mercenary/gun for hire.

Kind of disturbing how Star Fox is unambiguously killing its enemies

Of course this was always present, but with the remake's visual fidelity and audio improved over 30 years, it's more disturbing to me how Star Fox is unambiguously aiming to kill their foes despite the family-friendly demographic.

With Mario, there's the implication he's not killing Goombas or Koopas despite the gameplay elements of them poofing up to dust on a jump. He's just roughing them up and in some games certain enemies tell the tales of how he jumped on them as a joke.

Team Star Fox though is pretty much trying to kill all their adversaries, and Star Wolf just gets lucky - but it's more disturbing when you realize as an adult they don't go unscathed, with their increasingly cyborg appearances implying they live from their losses mutiliated; Andrew has mechanical arms by the time of Assault for example, so they stuck. It's horrifying to see some of the level endbosses scream in terror realizing they're going to die like the Train Conductor, and the Shogun even says "an honorable death" before perishing.

It's sweet how nice Marluxia is to Roxas during the tutorial in Days

Random but in the tutorial to Days, your tutorial is comprised of training with the Organization members sent to Castle Oblivion shortly after. Where Axel doesn't really care about Roxas at this point in time, Vexen and Larxene complete assholes, and Zexion and Lexaeus very stern, Marluxia is nothing but polite and even understanding towards Roxas.

Given how much of an egotistical, abusive monster he is the next time he's shown interacting with other Organization members in CoM, that's kind of sweet.

Saw this ToD clip of Blazblue. How is this fair?

Not in bad faith/upset. I'm just more curious. I saw this clip as some hype moment leading up to EVO and thought it was crazy how P2 just made one mistake and then he was literally 100-0'd.

It's so cool though.

Why did the Player Killer not pause the duel when this happened?

Silly, but this is one of the most egregious moments in the anime.

When the Player Killer/Ghost Kaiba's Blue-Eyes suddenly started losing ATK and even self-destructed when swinging for lethal, why did the PK not just pause the duel and call a judge or refer to staff (the thug nearby with Mokuba). If anyone were playing a high-stakes match of a game and something suddenly glitched out like this, there is no reason to continue at all until it's sorted out (i.e Yugi loses there because it was a game winning move and it resumes).

I still don't understand how Cia from Hyrule Warriors passed regulations

I feel the need to bring this up after seeing Cia's intro again on a whim on Facebook. How did Koei Tecmo got through Nintendo with her design? She has a plunging neckline that shows off her massive boobs, but her intro has close-up shots of both that and her stroking her rump, clearly not even hiding how she's vain.

I know Koei is behind DOA, but this is for Zelda, a family friendly IP and one of Nintendo's core titans.

Older gamers need to have empathy for excessive handholding

A lot of self-proclaimed hardcore gamers decry modern studios, but especially Nintendo, for treating gamers like they are dimwitted with excessive tips and handholding.

What these people have to show empathy for is the newer generation of youth are not very intelligent and impulsive. It's not a generalization, but just a fact due to the dominance of AI and quick-fix social media like TikTok. These people that buy games would get enraged or bored quickly if a game was obtuse, and I personally have experience with seeing such a person firsthand.

That's why newer Resident Evil games for example have the yellow paint everywhere to tell you where to go and what I base this off of. You try to suggest a 15 year old now play an older Resident Evil game like the OG remake and they will genuinely lose interest in the puzzle solving and vague directions. But like, this very much applies to some of the OG Nintendo games as well. The famous Ocarina of Time and especially Majora's are extremely obtuse games and just make you memorize stuff and explore to figure things out than ever give you any roadmap.

These are the people that buy games mostly, and why it matters of course.

What’s worse: living near the proximity of CDs or pirates?

Would it be worse to live in an area in a close proximity to Celestial Dragons, where they regularly visit and walk around, or an area just generally teeming with pirates like Jaya or Fullalead. It should be worth noting co-existence is often not a thing, as the presence of a CD would either cause pirates to not be there due to security or really keep a low profile. So they’re generally separate.

I think despite One Piece often demonizing the CDs and romanticizing pirates, the series has done a good job showing what a pirate isle can look like at its worst and that a country often can’t survive without WG protection

Just going to be direct: What's your opinion on Droll right now?

I alluded to this card a few days ago in another topic but I wasn't really satisfied. I want to talk about it more directly because, when I saw the thread, it seems people are more in favor of the card having outlived its purpose and it's just a degenerate card now in the same vein as Shifter; that it's definitely no longer a "necessary evil"

Droll is currently at 1 in the OCG, but everywhere else it's semi-limited.

What's your opinion on it?

Toons endboards without FTK honestly seem fairly ethical

This is about as far as it goes for me on endboard development, personally. I cannot do or fit more with the asks of what's optimal.

But this certainly isn't an unknown route, as endboard routes either lean towards Georgius or Zenna (the new LINK-5).

When you consider the endboard of Toons that don't FTK (I am sure they will kill Warlock and Shadow Toon in July), does it honestly seem that oppressive relative to what some other crazy combo decks like WF can do.

Just want one last discussion about this deck for a foreseeable future since I believe I am now shelving it with the logic it is too far away to really be too invested for now.

What went wrong with 2024's Gimmick Puppet support wave?

2024 introduced a swathe of excellent Gimmick Puppet support that turned it into a legitimate deck from a series of random cards with no real synergy.

It's less about the quality of the cards, which were fairly high, but how swiftly Konami has decided the deck seems to have no place in YGO. Its core thematic bosses in Dark Strings and C40 were quickly limited and the deck mostly fell out of the limelight.

As of 2026, things have gotten worse and Fantatix is suddenly forbidden, slaughtering the deck entirely. The OCG is similarly crying out for either Fantasix or Fanatix to be hit.

This means the support was a failure in itself since the deck isn't too competitive, but Konami has seemingly deemed the support wave was a design mistake.

How to enjoy an upper tier deck due to banlist concerns?

I'm not used to playing upper tier or meta decks not because I refuse to, but just what I historically gravitated towards was rarely a deck like that.

For over a year, I played Lunalight, which while not a meta deck drew a lot of heat for banlist concerns due to its big tops. It went unscathed and is falling out of favor in KT meta but I had to constantly play the deck fearing of a hit and it genuinely stressed me out.

Now trying a new deck pre-release way ahead of overseas time in Toon, this deck is easily a meta contender already and that's well-known. Tier 1 minimum. I really enjoy playing it but the concerns of a hit are already weighing in and much more concerning than Lunalight.

So I want to ask for those that invest a lot of love into these great power decks: how do you cope knowing the odds such a deck will be shadowed by the banlist more than being powercrept?

Riot not editing d4vd's song out of Arcane is genuine evil

Arcane still gets new viewers as a top advertised Netflix mainstay. The song, "remember me" from convicted pedophile serial killer groomer rapist d4vd, has still not been edited out of the show. They removed the song from their music playlists, but have shown no incentive to edit it out of Arcane itself.

That's actually evil. what d4vd did warrants this far more compared to a domestic abuser or someone that expresses abhorrent beliefs.

People will watch Arcane and unknowingly like the song.

Why isn’t Denuvo on every Nintendo game now

With how effective Denuvo is as a deterrent against PC cracking and Nintendo’s long-standing issue with Switch emulation, why isn’t Denuvo simply on every single game? It’s there sometimes but it’s not as used as PC publishers.

Does James deserve prison

I watched a NSFL documentary that I'll just cautiously describe as a man agreeing to being murdered. The guy that did it at his behest is set for a death penalty anyway.

In all versions of SH2, Mary definitely did not agree to being smothered to death and even fights back in the remake.

So that means even in the Leave ending, James is gonna be probed for a police investigation and jailed if found right?

It's interesting how casually Star Fox mentions terms related to death

I've been replaying all Star Fox games in anticipation for the 2026 game soon, from SF1 to Zero, and I just gotta say, I'm shocked how many times "death, die, kill, and killed" are all said in the dialogue. It's not spammed in an edgy way like I insinuate, but they're said enough across all the games it's notable - particularly in regards to James McCloud; the characters never mince words saying he's dead and Andross killed him. Boss banter across the series frequently also has the bosses boasting they're simply gonna kill you.

For a series aimed at small children with funny talking animals, it's pretty interesting since a lot of these games (barring Zero) came from an era where notions of death were censored out to "disappear, eliminate" etc.

Even relative to Nintendo's other darker core IPs, I don't think I can remember such terms being used that much openly.
