Would Corneria seizing Venom be illegal?

I don't think it's ever been mentioned of what happened to Venom after Andross' defeat, but Venom was described as an uninhabitable planet no one explored before Andross made it reasonably livable.

IF Corneria came in and occupied what Andross made for their own operations/to develop the planet further, is that annexation/illegal considering he made it with his own money and has relatives

Close to taking Neko Mane King FTK to Top 10 on Master Duel and wanted opinions

Just want opinions on decklist and how cool it seems. It's pre-emptive because I think I am obviously really getting lucky with variance and there's no telling when fate will go the wrong way.

I've been extensively tracking my progress on this deck and won't lie I'm not always playing this version, but I do pretty often enough when I feel like staking an almost-absolute win going first.

This deck isn't good by any means since a lot of the times you're just going to be forced to play a normal endboard under pressure but I think it's so original and cute - especially when it does pop off or the opponent at least realizes what is happening.

Trivia: Anyone remember when the developers thought Amy was as sexy as Ivy?

I will never let go of this because of how creepy it was, but it was real and casts some unfortunate implications.

During SC4's life cycle, the description for the Christmas costumes read: turn your Christmas sexy by putting these outfits on Ivy or Amy.

Years later, when advertising the maligned Lost Swords, they had the stones to advertise the Arcane Knight costume on Amy with Ivy as a duo. The trailer received overwhelming negative feedback and has been specifically scrubbed off the face of the internet now.

Like, does this not bother you in hindsight

EDIT: I found archives of both to share. But obviously this trailer is NSFW.

The new Onimusha completely forgets the series’ horror roots

It’s kind of jarring.

While Onimusha was never meant to be too horrifying like its cousin Resident Evil, the series was fundamentally survival horror from 1-3 with its tank controls and distinct atmosphere. The fourth installment definitely showed signs of undercutting the horror elements but it was basically the last game until now.

The new Onimusha is basically the farthest thing from anything horror. It’s just an action game with a grandiose anime theme. It might be good as a game to play but it doesn’t feel like Onimusha as I knew it from childhood.

The new Riot client startup logo gave me a seizure

Wondering if they had any empathy when designing this. The new Riot logo that boots up when starting the client has an animation attached to it, unlike before where it was just a png.

It flashes brightly for a moment before proceeding, but the flash is dangerously disorienting to those with issues seeing or flashing lights. Today I literally suffered a seizure from it and started convulsing before vomitting in the bathroom.

It should be addressed.

are JRPGs being too long for the average gamer a detriment

title. been an active year for JRPGs.

I already beat XBC1 and XBC2 years before, each clocked in documented at over 300+ hours. Earlier this year, I beat Tales of Phantasia, Eternia, and Destiny DC, each clocking in over 100-200+ hours to 100%.

Right now I'm chilling with XBC2 again with the Switch 2 Edition, and a few days in, I'm still in Uraya because I don't mind doing side quests, Tiger Tiger, farming early Blade affinity charts. A few days or less is enough to 100% Super Mario Odyssey by comparison.

I think it's the biggest value for single-player games, especially if you pay for them (complete XBC2S2E is 100 dollars if not just upgraded), but how can the average gamer be convinced to put in these hours? Even just beating the games without doing everything could be that length.

2024's Mario & Luigi Brothership shows Bowser has no qualms of killing children if they're in his way

I'm not going to refer to which scene this is due to not everyone having played the game and spoiler reasons, but regardless, Mario & Luigi Brothership has a very disturbing but memorable moment that paints a negative image of Bowser's character.

While Bowser is not going to be seen in media actively targeting kids to harm, the game shows that if Mario is in his sights and there's a kid next to him, he will have no qualms lethally attacking both of them with something like an aerial bombardment and not wait until the kid is out of fire or hold his attacks. When they're seemingly dead, Bowser even laughs only because he thinks he finally got Mario.

The scene is completely taken seriously and the game, in general, focuses on the negative aspects of the Mario Bros relationship with Bowser anyways. Usually it's just played for comedy or not taken for much, but very much not in this game. Mario actively shielding said kid and Bowser still going through with his attacks despite wholly seeing what's going on is just horrifying.

How do you feel about this? Like Bowser isn't a Ganondorf or Andross, he's the character Nintendo advertises parental controls and some family media with

Which seemingly friendly character would be the worst to meet as a civilian?

Not just “likable,” because Doflamingo is likable but would obviously be among the worst people to ever cross paths with without showing proper reverence.

But in the sense of how Buggy is often this goofy and fun loving guy to a lot of pirates but is a complete psycho to normal people, are there any other characters that are often presented as nice in the story but would be a nightmare to run into as an average joe

Does the lack of game overs in Xenoblade games, barring special cases, ruin immersion?

Title. Wondering if it throws you off in Xenoblade games where, barring certain cases like the final bosses typically, dying will just throw you back to the last checkpoint. Typically there's a humorous comment from the party at their predicament (Tora: W-what just happened?!)

The problem is some enemies will banter about how they will kill you horribly or how this is your last battle, so it's more than funny if you lost and someone like Pyra will just say to take it easy next time or Rex saying he'll get them this time.

Is Lunalight the best worst deck in the modern game

After pretty much only playing Lunalight for 1.5 year seriously and likely moving on to Toon forever in November, I want to start a discourse on whether it’s the best worst deck in YGO: a deck that feels extremely powerful and has the greatest potential but is simultaneously just really not good in practice.

The deck has a lot going for it at a glance: crazy extending potential and ability to play through handtrap abuse based on skill (like you often see LL players play through 7 handtraps sometime on YCS and the commentators go “wow!”), some insane gimmicks going second that allow it to automatically win (Heavy Poly, Lunalight Fusion), ability to make nigh full board under Droll.

IMO, even though the deck is known as Towers Turbo, I really only view Liger as a shell deterrent for what is really an R4 spam deck. Once you set up at least one Liger to be made, you can use the window to create whatever you want in the game as far as your ED space goes. You can climb as far as 4 material Alember to find any floodgate spell or trap in the game for example. So basically, once you’ve done your crazy actual combo, or if your opponent stopped that combo, they now have to also deal with Liger as the “deterrent.” That is insane by most deck standards considering what kind of card Liger is.

But it’s like in practice, as wild as that all sounds, it’s just not enough right now in reality. So many relevant decks can easily out Liger or power through your main combo and tech options. I espoused from the moment I laid eyes on Liger’s boardwipe that the destruction aspect of it in particular would not age well and, true to form, there’s an abundance of monsters in the meta that resist or prevent mass destruction; most relevantly are KT Loudness War and Titaniklad, and even before this, Cyberse piles could just make Wickkid and climb to various 3900+ beaters. It should have been a mass send effect and an example of how the most innocuous design flaws will forever affect a decks viability.

There’s still evidently not as many decks in the game I would trust playing more than LL from a competitive standpoint, a sentiment that rings more true after learning the shitshow that was Umbral Horror and being besieged by every handtrap and board breaker in the game, but it still feels like an uphill game or inconsistent enough that it really projects a fantasy you’re playing something genuinely super strong but questionable at the same time.

I think this discussion is worthwhile because it’s not exactly unknown either. When the conversations of what decks that aren’t relevant/meta but extremely strong come up, Lunalight is usually the top response right now.

I honestly forgot, why do a lot of people hate Xenoblade 2?

Hello r/JRPG. I recently got a once-in-a-lifetime lucky break and managed to buy a Switch 2.

Of course, while it's for various reasons, the first thing I did was bumrush to get and play the upgraded XBC2 that happened to release last night.

Starting the game over again after some 2 years of beating it entirely, I forgot why this game was so reviled in-between the other games in the series. It's such a cozy and nice game. I'm not exactly too far in the game to recognize the bad again, but the early game alone is a fond walk down memory lane.

I could be blinded by the glitz and nostalgia though, so just looking for various opinions.

Could you hypothetically live without owning a Switch 2 as a Nintendo fan?

I just got a Switch 2 very recently in this economy, but it such a lucky break because I realized an antique 3DS I had locked in storage was worth over 400 dollars; so I sold it of course for 550$ on an auction and got a Switch 2.

Otherwise, there was no certainty I would have gotten a Switch 2 in a foreseeable life time. And up to now that was just eating away at me because I have been up to date with Nintendo from the N64 to Switch 1 but could not afford a Switch 2.

If you're already a Nintendo fan and in my circumstances but didn't have that aforementioned lucky break, could you live with not owning a Switch 2 without angsting or just plain feeling bad about it all the time

when Doflamingo betrayed Bellamy again and attacked him after the TS just before the showdown with Law and Luffy, I imagine Bellamy didn't even try to fight back because he was so heartbroken his idol is doing this to him.

The Colonel was notably a villain with a sad backstory Kenshiro showed absolutely no mercy for

If a villain has a sad or relatable backstory, chances are even if Kenshiro doesn’t spare their life, he’ll give them a painless death and even shed tears for their fate.

The Colonel despite having the backstory of a once hard working soldier that was forced to watch his psychotic and hedonistic superiors end the world, was shown zero quarter by Kenshiro. He only coldly says he traded one mistake for another, then humiliates him and gives him a horrific death that’s comparable to Jagi’s.

Veteran player take: Classic is shockingly bad compared to Modern - especially in regards to Singed

Don't know if I need to introduce myself, but I am a Singed main since S3 to now and have been Diamond+ since S5. I am posting some images to highlight how old I am. I unironically expected going back to Classic to be going back to some Golden Age where Singed is actually good compared to now.

Like I don't really ever want to give props to Riot for any reason, but still, the advancements this game has seen in itself and in regards to Singed over 13+ years at least are so astronomical I don't think I can ever go back.

For starters, old LoL from a visual fidelity standpoint is borderline nausea inducing to play with. The mini-map, which I look at all times as a high elo player, is genuinely hard to comprehend because it's so blurred out. Animations are also so janky like Singed's E awkwardly being an instantaneous animation and Q abruptly cutting a quarter of HP per tick, making it harder to last hit. I was fighting to look at the game while playing.

Then there's Singed himself. I don't know if Riot wants to remove him from the game in modern even now, but the amount of QoL he's received to now to preserve his always-there gameplay state is mindblowing. He feels absolutely horrific to play without Grounding, Grievous R, auto CSing, Gooflips, and his new passive. It's almost like a different champion altogether without these features.

It was strange Rampart defied the redemption trope

Edmon Rampart from the Bad Batch had all the hallmarks of an Imperial character that would turn good. He is a major character given a lot of screen time, and his falling out of the Empire coupled with being roped into a truce with the Batch is usually where he'd sort of come to understand them at least or see the error of his ways.

But while Rampart does not exactly end on terrible terms with the team from their alliance and they go their separate ways without much fare, Rampart instead double downs on evil and tries to strike out on his own in a power grab. It leads to his death.

How do you feel about this?

It’s disturbing how Partagaz likes Gorst - or more specifically, values his work

Kind of overlooked this aspect of Partagaz until a recent rewatch, but despite how the show makes Partagaz one of the least reprehensible and likable Imperials, it’s disturbing how much he values Gorst. You know, the psychopath torturer that ruined Bix’s life and gets his kicks off torture in general

One of the only times he’s shown to be pissed off is when Gorst is removed from the ISB to work elsewhere, showing how he viewed him as a huge asset to their credibility as a unit.

I know Andor is darker than most SW media, but did the sight of red blood still not shock you?

There's worse after this scene in particular, but my neurons were still set off by red blood being shown in Star Wars. I don't think it's ever been shown before, we only see alien blood or wounds cauterized by blaster and lightsaber heat.

I feel bad for Andross in Star Fox

Specifically from the added lore in the 2026 game.

Imagine being a genius without peer but your accomplishments being hogged by the military (Cornerian Defense Force) you work for. You try to strike out on your own to make more of a name for yourself, make a big mistake, then get sentenced to death for it. But instead of death, someone pities you and sends you to exile in a nearly uninhabitable hell of a planet.

Based on the years that went by without any mention of Andross and James’ surprised reactions to Venom’s climate, no one cared whether he was alive or dead anymore. They do care if he is alive though, he might cause trouble.

All the while, all his groundbreaking work on tech, science, etc is still being used by Corneria. He must have felt like everything he worked for was stolen while he festers on Venom as an unperson.

No wonder he gained an army of sympathizers with that narrative he can spin.
