matchmaking basically dead in Europe?

i'm in Western Europe and matchmaking feels pretty much dead for me. most of the time nobody joins, it searches forever, or it just gives up and says no players were found.

i already have matchmaking range set to Anywhere, so that shouldn't be the issue.

anyone else in europe having this problem? is there anything i can actually do about it?

also, which modes are the most populated right now?

just trying to figure out where everyone is playing

Phenobarbital - what dose actually worked for you?

for those who take phenobarbital for Gilbert’s, what dose actually works for you?

I'm mostly interested in symptoms like fatigue, headaches, brain fog, digestive issues etc. not just lowering bilirubin or getting rid of yellow eyes

what dose do you take and how often? how long does it usually take before you notice a difference? and do you get side effects like sleepiness or dizziness?

I have 100mg tablets, so just trying to understand what the lowest effective dose people actually use is

we spent $0 marketing in Japan and somehow got 500+ wishlists from there. have we been underestimating Japan?

we finally dug into the country breakdown for DEAD SPIN wishlists and noticed something pretty weird: a 500+ wishlist spike from Japan. and theyre still slowly trickling in.

the weirdest part is we never specifically marketed the game there at all.

so we started digging and found the likely reason: about a month ago AUTOMATON wrote an article about us and posted the game on X.

we were completely buried in development at the time and only now got around to actually looking at the aftermath.

somehow Japan ended up becoming one of the countries that stands out the most in our wishlist data, with zero targeted marketing from us.

now we are wondering: did we just happen to hit the right audience, or have we been seriously underestimating Japan? especially for a game with visuals like ours?

and if youre curious to see the game were making and what this whole post is about, heres our Steam page: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3705670/DEAD_SPIN/

Turns out TikTok isnt great for roguelike deckbuilders. This information cost me $5,000

the corolla in the picture is what i couldve bought
instead i turned those $5k into fewer than 500 steam wishlists

me and my mates are making Dead Spin, dark roguelike deckbuilder. we handled the marketing ourselves, then i had the brilliant idea to spend the price of an entire used corolla on a Jestr campaign

and... yeah, it just didnt work for our game. under 300k views, weak traffic to steam and fewer than 500 wishlists. so yeah, $10+ per wishlist. corolla numbers

turns out roguelike deckbuilders and tiktok have zero chemistry. tiktok also occasionally thought we were advertising actual gambling because of the casino setting, but only like 1-2% of the content got blocked so that wasnt really what killed it

now were back to doing the marketing ourselves. no corolla, but at least i now own a $5k opinion about tiktok marketing

posting this so maybe another indie dev tests small before converting their own corolla into wishlist data. unless youre making friendslop, then tiktok will probably love you lol

btw Jestr were great to work with, our game and the format just didnt click

and heres the game responsible for my current lack of corolla:

Dead Spin capsule — before vs after. Which rabbit works better?

hey everyone,

we already updated the Steam capsule, but we're curious about your honest opinion.

old. the Rabbit with glasses. the one that appears in the tutorial. looks almost welcoming. but something feels a little off…

new. the Rabbit without glasses. the one players actually face for most of the game. no warmth. just that unsettling smile and the button he's about to press.

both work, but they give completely different first impressions.

which one would make you click?

if you're interested check out our Steam page and wishlist the game: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3705670/DEAD_SPIN/

Looking for playtesters for DEAD SPIN, my new horror roguelike deckbuilder

Hey everyone!

I'm looking for playtesters for DEAD SPIN - a horror roguelike deckbuilder.

the game is about deadly slot-machine duels in a cursed casino. You build your deck with symbols, chips, and trinkets, chase big scores, and try to outspin the lunatic gambler sitting across from you.

the Steam Playtest is open now. No NDA, no keys needed.

steam page:
https://store.steampowered.com/app/3705670/DEAD_SPIN/

what we’d love feedback on:

- how clear the tutorial and core rules are
- whether the deckbuilding choices feel interesting
- balance, difficulty spikes, and confusing moments
- bugs, softlocks, or anything that feels broken
- general first impressions after one run

a full run takes around 30-40 minutes, but even 10-15 minutes of feedback would be helpful.

thanks a lot to anyone who checks it out. We’ll be reading comments here and would really appreciate honest feedback.

a short survey opens after closing the game

Is $125 a fair price for a sealed UK copy of The Orange Box on Xbox 360?

found a sealed UK copy of The Orange Box for Xbox 360 for $125. Thinking of picking it up for my collection.

any thoughts on whether $125 is reasonable for it, or is that too much?

I made a slot-inspired game where you build your own reels to beat an opponent’s score - does it feel like slots?

I’ve always been into poker and slots so I wanted to combine the heads up tension of poker with slot mechanics and hopefully multiply that feeling of excitement and risk.

You’re not just spinning and hoping for the best - you build your own reels by adding unique symbols, then try to create a setup strong enough to beat your opponent’s score.

I’m especially curious what people here think about the slots side of it: does it catch your eye, does it recreate that slot feeling on screen or does something feel missing?

If you are interested, you can also wishlist the game here:

We wanted creepy 2000s jank energy. Did we pull it off?

Hey! Me and my mates are working on a game Dead Spin inspired by the aesthetics of the late 1990s and early 2000s. It’s about duels on a weird special slot machine with masked lunatic gamblers.

We've been trying to add that creepy horror spice to the visuals and overall design unsettling, weird, with a dash of PS2-era jank charm.

So what do you think? Did we pull it off?

Mask or Head?

Hello! We’ve got a bit of a debate going on in our team and could use some outside opinions.

In our game Dead Spin, players have to fight masked lunatic gamblers. Our 3D artist recently created this rather unusual character. Now we can’t agree on one thing: does it read as a full-head mask, or does it look like that’s actually his real head (basically a giant chunk of shawarma meat)?

What details push you one way or the other? Texture, shape, proportions, vibes?

Trying to capture some old-school atmosphere. Thoughts?

What do you think of the art and graphics? Does it remind you of any games from that era?

Need feedback: Which opponent makes you want to immediately flip the table? (A or B)

hey y'all, working on my horror roguelike deckbuilder Dead Spin and we’re completely torn on the designs for our opponents.

version A: The Grandma. Looks like she’s been sitting at this exact machine since 1985. Smokes two packs a day, smells like mothballs and impending doom. Will 100% steal your soul if you pull the wrong lever, then ask why you don't visit her more often.

version B: The Bag-head Man. Silent. Breathes like a broken AC unit. You can't see his face, but you know he's deeply disappointed in every life choice that brought you to this machine. Keeps his grocery receipts in a neat little binder at home.

if you had to sit in a dark, cursed room and slots machine for your life... which one of these two would make you say "nope, absolutely not" and walk out? A or B?

Here are some animations from our game you’re trying to outplay a bunch of lunatic gamblers at the slots. What do you think?
