“Thank you to Fifa for doing what was right, and reversing a great injustice!”

Donald Trump lobbied Fifa to lift the US striker Folarin Balogun’s one-game ban for a red card received in the team’s win over Bosnia and Herzegovina, preceding Sunday’s stunning announcement that he would be available for the cohosts’ last-16 clash against Belgium in Seattle on Monday night.

Sources have told the Guardian that Trump made three calls to Fifa, starting from Wednesday, to ensure that the change was made.

“Thank you to Fifa for doing what was right, and reversing a great injustice!” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.

‘The risk is Russia becomes desperate’: the Swedish Baltic Sea island preparing for invasion

Only four months ago, Ella Adman had just finished school and had never before held a gun. Now, standing in the shade in between drills at a military base on Gotland, the strategically important Swedish Baltic island where she grew up, the 19-year-old conscript is carrying a powerful assault rifle. In a matter of days, she is due to carry out her first official mission in Stockholm, guarding the royal family.

To blame the Vatican

Billionaire tech investor Peter Thiel delivered a series of provocative warnings and predictions about the future of artificial intelligence and the West on Tuesday, accusing Pope Leo XIV of inadvertently serving as a “Chinese communist agent” by calling for AI regulation. In his remarks at the Aspen Ideas Festival in Colorado, he also warned of a “democratic-socialist takeover” of the United States’ Democratic Party. (...)

Frequent AI chatbot users more likely to believe anti-vaccine myths, poll finds

Adults in the US who frequently seek out health advice from artificial intelligence chatbots are more likely to believe myths about vaccines, according to a poll released on Tuesday by health research firm KFF.

The survey, which was conducted in May and polled a representative sample of 2,480 US adults, found that use of AI tools and chatbots correlated with belief in falsehoods such as vaccines causing autism or that the measles vaccine poses more danger than the corresponding virus. The connection remained while controlling for factors such as age, race, education and political partisanship.

Haven't received a forwarded mail to kMail

Not sure if others had/have the same issue, but I'm forwarding emails from my hotmail address to kMail. It seemed to work, the mails got forwarded, but I did a quick check, and one mail came one day late, and one mail wasn't forwarded at all.

And of course, the one not forwarded was am important one, and I opened it almost two weeks late.

Kolik vám bylo když jste zjistili nějakou všeobecně známou informaci o které jste netušili?

Já třeba teď ve 23 letech zjistil, že v Evropě žijí volně v přírodě opice. Sice ne přirozeně ale přece.

Mailbox vs Infomaniak

I'm currently in the process of r/degoogle -ing and looking for an alternative. Right now I have a free account with Infomaniak with 15 gb of storage for my photos and admin. Mailbox only offers a paid package with 5 gb cloud storage. I am willing to pay, but 5 gb is just not enough for me.

Can someone still convince to go with Mailbox?

I typed my name in Google...

...and of course, AI Overview gave a 'summary' of who I am, my work, what I do, my VAT number, the place I live, etc. I immediately gave a thumb down -> Report a problem -> Offensive/Unsafe and wrote in the text field that I demand them to take down my personal details. GDPR, jadajada.

If people want to search for me, they can click several links, LinkedIn and put some effort in it. This is just unacceptable.

But probably nothing will happen. F*ckers.

How to obtain public property "free of charge"

The UN-sanctioned Board of Peace announced by Donald Trump earlier this year to rule Gaza is planning a sweeping grant of legal immunity for itself, according to a draft of the resolution obtained by the Guardian. The draft language would also let the organization obtain public property in Gaza “free of charge”.

The four-page resolution, labeled “sensitive but unclassified”, extends broad protections to every member of the Board of Peace and its administrative affiliate, the office of the high representative (OHR), as well as to the Palestinian technocrats, international military forces and nonresident contractors lined up to perform work in Gaza. It defines legal processes from which they would have immunity as “any arrest, detention or legal proceedings in the courts or other entities in Gaza”.

Company just racked up a £300,000 bill in AI token use for the month of June so they are now completely switching off most AI tools being used

I am absolutely loving this so much that they are now in the ‘finding out’ stage of AI

Since the beginning of the year, the company that I work for has been shoving AI down our throats like it was literal air. Everyone had a performance indicator in relation to AI as part of our performance reviews.

After months of making us spending large amounts of time build pointless agents just to say that everyone is using AI just for the sake of it, this morning we just got an internal memo that most AI tools have now been completely switched off for the entire company except for a couple of agents used by execs.

I spoke about this to a close friend of mine who is married to a someone who works in finance at my company and she mentioned that it was because AI use racked up a £300,000 bill in token use. And this is for a smaller company, about 500 staff members. We aren’t a big company with thousands of people.

I just couldn’t stop smiling the whole time.

I just can’t wait for the bubble to burst now, it is absolutely not realistic for AI companies to expect the regular company to foot the enormous bill needed to upkeep AI.

Anyways, would love to hear any similar stories of AI backfiring in the your workplaces :-)
