Apex Legends is a battle royale first-person shooter game that also includes hero-shooter mechanics. In the game, players choose from a roster of characters called “Legends,” and each Legend has unique abilities that can help the team in different ways. Some characters are better at defense, others help with movement or scouting, and some specialize in aggressive combat. Because of this, teamwork and strategy are a major part of the game instead of relying only on shooting skill.
The main objective of the game is to be the last squad alive out of all the teams in the match. Players begin by dropping onto a large map, where they search for weapons, armor, ammunition, and healing supplies. As the match progresses, a shrinking safe zone called the “ring” forces players closer together, increasing the chances of combat. Teams must survive enemy encounters while continuing to move toward the safe zone until only one squad remains.
Although combat is important, the game is not designed to reward reckless fighting alone. Success in Apex Legends often comes from making smart decisions, such as choosing safe landing locations, managing supplies, knowing when to engage in fights, and understanding when to retreat. Since survival is the ultimate goal, many players focus on preparation and positioning rather than constantly seeking battles. This strategic approach is what separates battle royale games from more fast-paced shooters that focus only on eliminations.
