What are your thoughts on Clark as Superboy?

If you had a chance to write Superman would you add in his adventures as Superboy or do you prefer him becoming an official Superhero later in life when he gets to Metropolis?

If you did work in his younger years what would you include? Would you say he met the Legion of Superheroes? Did he know a young Lex Luthor? Who in Smallville knows Clark has powers?

If your Superhero Story got a Live Action adaptation what would be the Worst Change executives could make?

I’m not here to start an argument about any real superhero movies, or what makes a good adaptation, I just wanted to know if your story ever got adapted into a blockbuster movie or TV Show what would be the worst or weirdest change the studio could make to it through plot changes, casting, character portrayal, fundamentally missing the point etc

Examples like

Superman Lives (featuring Nic Cage in a super suit fighting a giant spider)

X-Men Origins: Wolverine (Merc with a mouth sans mouth)

Sam Hamm’s Watchmen script (Timeline shenanigans cause the Watchmen to enter our real world, no I’m not making this up)

In my own superhero world I’d say they would try to turn my heroine Crystelle into a more sanded down & marketable to young girls story. She’s the daughter of a scientist & uses her superpowers gathered from an alien crystal really effectively but the suits would probably think it’s too complicated for their demographics. They’d also get rid of the anti-authoritarian messages because her big villain in the first arc is the Mayor of her hi-tech city trying to control the population & make heroes illegal with a force of police drones.

Do Invented Neologisms Count as Epithets?

Forgive me if this sounds crazy or Jello has already debunked it somewhere but to what extent to Neologisms count in Epithet Erased?

I was thinking of making an Epithet Erased fanfic (one of my MANY backburner projects) & I wondered if an Epithet could be forced into existence by someone convincing the public to continually say it as part of an evil scheme.

To show an example similar to what I’m talking about I introduce Reader, an inhuman from Marvel who can make words he reads, through sight or braille, real and have their meanings affect reality much like an epithet (example if he reads the word ‘Fire’ a fire starts or if he reads the word ‘Away’ he’ll be teleported). In the scenario above he and a bunch of other inhumans are trapped another character creates a way out for them all by defining a new word meaning ‘Mass Astral Projection’ which he shortens to Floob.

Despite Reader himself arguing that this shouldn’t work because in that scenario they’re all desperate to get out he tries it & because they all agree on what Floob means they actually manage to escape.

I understand this is an out there concept & it wouldn’t be a normal thing I was planning on having it used by a villainous organisation to ‘Astroturf’ a new hip phrase and then as soon as it reaches a memetic level it can be used to control the world & I wanted to know if people thought it was a good idea or not?

What’s your explanation for a ‘Common’ Language?

To explain in your worlds that have both languages for different cultures or species (e.g. Elven, Dwarven, Orcish) and a common tongue what is your explanation for it? Is it a constructed language meant for different cultures to communicate effectively (like Esperanto), was there a large empire that used Common as its language and even after its fall it stayed recognisable enough? Is it a gift from Gods if you have them?

I was contemplating making my own Version of a Suicide Squad and I wanted to know if There were any ‘archetypes’ across the various versions that could help decide what would make a balanced team.

Ive identified a few

What’s the strangest in universe element/historical figure in your world’s history?

The same way in DC the immortal Vandal Savage has been history’s greatest criminals or in Marvel Isaac Newton & Leonardo da Vinci were part of a secret society! Does your world have any similar events where a seemingly ordinary or random event in history was impacted by superheroes or a historical figure was secret paranormal?

Some of the events I came up with over the years as part of a crossover idea I’m trying to rewrite.

  • The disaster of Woodstock ‘99 was a ritual to bring about an ancient god of discord.
  • The founder of the US Department of Technology accidentally made a deal with a demon when he was 11 & computer glitches are actually a type of imp.
  • Every blood relative of a Frankenstein has been haunted by the ghosts of their family into following their family trade.
  • There are two Draculas locked in an eternal blood feud and chasing each other across the world.
  • Every missing person (the Mary Celeste crew, DB Cooper, Amelia Earhart etc) gets teleported to an interdimensional island run by pirates.

What are some interesting locations you’ve made for your Superhero World?

This ranges from things such as Cities (Gotham, Metropolis, Astro City), Countries (Themysciera, Latveria, Wakanda) or even Planets & Alternate Dimensions (Krypton, Apokolips, Nowhere, Negative Zone).

I’m currently working on remaking my world (to add in my new ideas & finally sort out the lore) so I only have a few but my main superhero locale is Celeste Canyons, a hub of various different cities on an island nation known for its high level of technological innovation, being the headquarters of the superhero analysis & recon org ARCHON & having the worlds highest number of Alien Encounters (possibly due to the rare resources hidden in the canyons that have an unusually high number of meteor impacts or just because the Aliens don’t know when to stop trying to invade).

But what locations do you have?
