How to recreate this experience?

Some years ago, Foster The People came to my local music fest and played "Harden the Paint". I haven't listened to it before and it felt so electric with my whole body vibrating with the song. When I came back home I played it in my Bluetooth speaker but I couldn't recreate the same experience.

Years have passed and I have learned a lot about audiophile stereo systems, but even with my equipment I can't seem to get it close. What am I missing? Just a subwoofer?

I don't think they'll play that song ever again live (based on their latest setlist.fm) so I want to recreate it at home as much as possible

Current equipment: Pioneer SX-680 -> Elac Debut 2.0 B6.2

What's y'all's opinion on Fckers?

Fcukers were the opener for Kevin & The Gang during their first leg of the US tour. They are coming to my music fest and I was debating whether to see them or skip. I like their music, but they might be too chill I guess? Engaging enough to keep the mind moving, but boring enough for work office background music if that makes sense

Anyone saw them live? Are they good?

Is this a separate new entry, or part of an existing one?

Recently bought a copy of Clairo - Charm. I looked it up in Discogs to add to my collection and I can't seem to find it. The runout has the following info:

C-1969228705552-A 280825E1 02533086 2472146

C-1969228705552-B 280825E2 02533137 2422873

The first couple of numbers lead me to the main normal variant, but the last couple of numbers are absent. Is this a new entry separate from the main one? Or an update to the normal variant entry?

Fluance acrylic platter not gripping record?

I upgraded the platter on my Fluance RT-82 to an acrylic platter. I think I installed it correctly, but I noticed that the platter doesn't seem to grip the records properly. The records sound slightly slower. Also if I exert a small amount of pressure from my record brush, the record stops, but platter keeps spinning.

Any ideas on what's causing this and how to fix it?

Culhane's Tucker Carlson has escaped containment

I noticed my morning radio DJ is starting to sporadically say Tucker Carlson's catchphrases "What are we doing? What's going on?". Culhane's already cementing himself as part of pop culture. Insane!

I guess for budget something like $500 for my next upgrade?

Gonna start cleaning my record collection using an US cleaner. Any tips to improve my workflow?

Recently got a VEVOR ultrasonic cleaner and decided to clean my entire collection cause why not. Based on what I've found online, this is the ideal workflow:

  • 30°C water bath
  • 2 records at the same time for 5-7 minutes. More time if more dirty
  • Got an adjustable voltage power cable for the record spinner. Set up to 0.5 rpm
  • Final rinse with water, no cleaning solution
  • Change cleaning solution every 20 records or so, or if it looks too dirty
  • Air dry in a rack, but I'll use my empty dishwasher

My questions:

  • Should I use distilled water? Or would fridge-filtered water work ok? The filter supposedly gets rid of particulates
  • Ideal record spacing is supposedly 37.1 mm, but the VEVOR record spacers don't go that far, so I guess just using two records is far enough?
  • Could I recycle the cleaning solution through a coffee filter?
  • Any other tips?

Is this boot any good?

I accidentally forgot to check Discogs bought this bootleg of the Tame Impala EP. I guess I could return it, but if it's a good bootleg, then I don't see why not to keep it

Are these songs mixed terribly on purpose? Or is it my equipment?

My group chat sometimes sends music recs. I stumbled upon these and they sound terrible in my speakers. I thought I had good audiophile equipment, so either my equipment is not good enough or the artists mixed distorted these songs terribly on purpose.

GODHANDUSA - 1-800-IWANNADIE

North West - Th!s t!m3

Equipment: Pioneer SX-680->Elac Debut 2.0 B6.2

Disclaimer: I don't actually like these songs

Edit: sorry y'all I got my terminology mixed up. It's not the "mixing" that's the problem. It's the distortion that makes me question the quality of my system

How do y'all deal with political content in small subs?

I mod a rock band sub with ~1K members. The band is known to post political content in their socials from time to time so the sub gets some political content. It's a small sub, so my philosophy is to let the voting system sort it out and remove any actually aggressive ad hominem comments. If the band becomes more popular and I get more members, I guess I could make a "no politics" rule.

Am I on the right track? How do y'all deal with that?

I created this sub when my first request to be instated as mod of r/diespitz failed. I decided to try again and now my request was granted! I don't see a reason to have two similar subs, so I'll close this one. Come join the OG sub!

Thank you all so much for joining this one and sorry for any confusion this might cause. I know it's annoying to switch subs around.

Dumb question: why is it hard to fire people at the agency, but also, Texas is an at-will state?

One of my agency coworkers was a very poor performer but never got fired from the agency. My boss was almost driven crazy waiting for him to retire or go somewhere else. When I started I always heard the jokes that once the 6-month probation period is over, they cannot kick you out

But also, Texas is an at-will state meaning they can fire you for any not illegal reason whenever, and likewise we can also leave whenever for whatever reason. This doesn't make sense to me?

Went to the Hayley Williams concert yesterday and opener Water From Your Eyes said that they will be back for ACL. Did I imagine this? Her mic was too echoey to really discern what she was saying

2010 Toyota Corolla with \~180,000 miles. Some of the lights are turned off when I'm driving, including the speedometer and tachometer lights, clock, some AC knobs, radio display sometimes. Diagnostic lights turn on fine. The rest of the lights get significantly dimmer when I turn on the headlights. This is the base Corolla, so it doesn't have a dimmer, lights turn on automatically when it's darker.

I checked the fuses but they all look good. Next I think it's the combination switch, but I can't find a good video or resource online for how to replace it. Found one video for a 2008 Corolla that seemed easy enough, just unplug and replace, but the parts I've seen on Rockauto seem to have the whole stalk. Would I need to remove the steering wheel to replace the combo switch?

Thanks in advance!
