Any other indie folk acoustic albums I'm missing?
I've been going through a rough patch in my life and been kind of anxious lately. These albums have helped me calm down. Any other ones you recommend in the same genre?

Went down the cartridge rabbit hole and decided to get different carts and swap them out depending on what I'm listening. I originally had this Shure PRO-5 cart with an N12 stylus in a KAB headshell. Then I bought an AT-VM95SH with an Ortofon headshell (it's what they had available at my local record store). They weight approximately the same, the Shure cart and headshell weighs 15.9 grams while the AT cart and headshell weighs 15.4g
While I'm able to use the Shure cart normally, the AT cart is apparently too light and needs more VTF so I have to turn the counterweight all the way in to get it barely to 1.5g. I have to remove the aux counterweight to use the AT cart.
Am I using the AT cart wrong?
I think our child is ready for potty training and we are slowly introducing the idea of a potty to them. Whenever they pee or poop, we tell them to sit in the potty then change their diaper. We were gearing up to go no diaper mode, but they suddenly started not wanting to sit in the potty. I don't know if they are too distracted playing or watching TV, but when they pee/poo and we prompt them to sit in the potty, they refuse.
I feel like trying to force them to sit would be counterproductive. Should we wait a bit more?
I've been looking for an Empire 4000 D/I cartridge for a bit. I heard from a friend's TT and I really liked it. Found a cartridge for a reasonable price but no stylus. Then found some needles but got confused
First photo is a website that seems to be what I'm looking for. 0.1 mil tip radius and all the specs my friend boasted about. However, I noticed that another site has the same product code and it's a 0.2 mil tip radius. Is the first one legit? Or maybe they got the specs wrong?
For some reason I'm hearing a lot of distortion when a song seems to have a very crowded section in the highs. I'm trying to figure out if it's my record or my turntable that's the problem. Some examples
Pink Floyd - Eclipse
Natalia Lafourcade - Palomas Blancas
As far as I can tell, the Spotify versions don't have this issue, so I'm trying to see if it's the pressing that's the issue or my turntable.
What other similar records have crowded highs? If it's a mainstream one, I would likely have it
Hey everyone! I just received my Vestri. I'm honestly not sure if I'm using it right, but I'm connecting my Google Pixel through my Vestri and listening on my Sennheiser HD600.
I've noticed in some songs, it introduces a screeching distorted sound in the high frequencies of the song. If I reconnect the Vestri and repeat that segment, it does not happen anymore. I don't see a pattern yet, seems random. So far I haven't used the features yet
Any advice?
In a flashback, Cassian Andor and his tribe go explore a downed ship. Their leader gets killed by a ship survivor, who also gets killed in retaliation. The tribe retreats, but Cassian stays and starts breaking the ship. Maarva and Clem arrive later to loot the ship, snatch Cassian, and leave. Maarva says it's better this way because "The Republic will come back and they will not be kind" (or something like that)
What did she mean by that? I thought it was supposed to be the Empire at that time? Even if it's the Republic, why would they kill Cassian's tribe? While probably flawed, I don't remember the Republic being known for genociding people
Sorry I just need a space to vent a little. If this is not appropriate for this sub, please remove.
My dad has always worked really hard to give us a good life. He would work long hours at a stressful job so we could go to private school and not need anything. I'm where I am today because of him.
He is retiring soon and recently switched to a lower stress position. Soon after, he started with symptoms: unbearable pain in the joints and general fatigue. Some days he couldn't even get out of bed and needed help to go to the bathroom. He got diagnosed with RA and possibly fibromyalgia. He's getting treatment and is able to work normally and so far as a sort of regular life. Some days are better, some are worse.
But he deserved a break, man. He says he brought this on himself due to his workaholicism but still that doesn't mean he's gotta go through this. He needed to enjoy his retirement and his grandkids. He was so happy when he met his grandchildren for the first time and was so excited to hang out with them and now he barely can carry a newborn sitting down.
His current med cocktail seems to be working so he's optimistic, but there's still a long road ahead. I hope he does get some peace
Is there a place that sells hamburgers with a slice of ham on top? Phil's used to have the Jardin, but it's not available anymore
My sleep schedule used to be from 10:30pm to 6:30am when I woke up to work. During the weekends, I was able to sleep a bit longer until 8:30 or even 9.
After having a baby, everything changed. I would wake up in the middle of the night to get the newborn back to sleep. Once that was done, I went to pee and went back to bed. 2 years later, the toddler is sleep trained and has a very consistent schedule. However I'm still waking up in the middle of the night to pee and now I wake up at 5:30am, even on the weekends.
Is this normal? While googling says 7 hours of sleep is normal, I'm still very tired the rest of the day and I don't think I'm functioning at my best. I feel like I need a nap, which I can't do during my work week. My wife who's the same age as me has a similar sleep schedule, but she sleeps like a rock and is able to sleep for longer.
So I got COVID now and I'm trying to figure out how I got it. My main suspects are my family but I'm unsure
My brother went to visit our family in Chicago and came back to Texas Wednesday morning. I picked my brother up from the airport and drove him home. My family tested positive for COVID on Wednesday night. I started to have symptoms Thursday evening and tested positive Friday morning.
Could COVID spread from my family to me? I feel like it was too fast
Edit: to clarify, I wasn't with my family in Chicago. I picked up my brother from the airport in Texas where we both live after he visited my family in Chicago
We try to offer our toddler a balanced meal. For example, we give him diced grilled chicken, broccoli and apple slices. Our 2.5 year old LO would eat a small nibble of everything, eat all the apples and then demand more apple or other fruit they know is lying around in the fridge. I don't think they're getting enough protein or fats.
They eat relatively well during daycare. Any advice? Should I give them what they want and hope they grow out of it?
Especially when said by a seemingly dumb character
Lion King - When the trio stare at the skies and wonder what the stars are, Pumbaa's theory is that they are balls of gas burning billions of miles away. Timon immediately dismisses this. Of course, Pumbaa is right

>!President Cal Bradford gets a tour of the underground bunker under construction for the incoming apocalypse. The project lead, Sinatra, boasts that they are ready for any situation, including a nuclear meltdown, oxygen failure, and outside invasion. Cal asks what about all three at the same time, and gets scoffed at by Sinatra saying that will never happen. Cal then lectures her about how empires fall: due to their hubris and thinking nothing will happen to them. Years later, the bunker gets destroyed by all these three events happening at the same time!<
I have a 2.1 living room setup consisting of an SVS SB-1000 Pro. I was thinking of moving it around between my home office setup and my living room.
Here's my home office setup: TT -> Schiit Mani -> Schiit SYS (to add my phone) -> ADAM D3V.
I was thinking I could get a Y cable to split the SYS to the ADAM and the subwoofer. Would that work?

Decided to upgrade my Fluance RT85 and got a new (to me) Technics SL-1200 MK3. Apparently, my static issues are back. Even with an acrylic mat, I can hear static when I take a record off the TT.
Seems like the sure fire way to fight static is to buy a Zerostat, but I don't think that addresses the core issue, which is a dry environment? Would a humidifier be better?
Records are cleaned using ultrasonic cleaner and rinsed in distilled water, so the records are not the problem (unless they somehow get static from the sleeve to the TT)
Got a used Technics SL-1200 MK3 off eBay. Everything works great, but when I try to balance the tonearm, it drifts back to the armrest. Plinth is level and antiskate is set to zero. Maybe it's not a big deal?
Background: our boy is almost 3 years old and I think he's ready for potty training. He lets me know when he's going #2 and is interested in seeing us go to the bathroom. Our apartment is all carpet, so no Oh Crap! method unfortunately.
Plan: get training undies, a small plastic toilet and a to-go toilet. Look out for cues when he wants to go and try to get him to the toilet before he starts going #1 or #2. Do this during the weekend and hope he gets the idea so he starts doing the same during daycare. Bring to-go toilet whenever we go out to the grocery store, playground, grandparents' house, restaurant, etc
Alternative: would making him sit on the toilet every hour or so also work?
Some questions: we both work full-time and many times we need to leave our LO watching TV while we make dinner and do chores, how do we monitor him during these times? Would the Oh Crap! method actually work in an all carpet apartment? Any other advice or how would you tinker with my plan?
Thanks in advance!
