If you’re a fan of sharks, these are the coins for you (in no particular order):

1. Commonwealth of Australia - 1 Dollar (2021) Great White Shark silver ounce. This design is really captivating. The way the shark bursts from the water with the big bold letters is exciting.

2. Republic of Austria - 3 Euros (2018)
   Colorful Creatures Great White Shark cupronickel coin. It may look like any other shark coin, but when you turn off the lights, it glows in the dark!

3. Commonwealth of Australia - 1 Dollar (2016)
   Australian Map Great White Shark silver ounce. This coin in the shape of Australia and Tasmania is special for both its geographic and selachian interest. The cool background colors are striking.

4. Tuvalu - 1 Dollar (2007) Great White Shark silver ounce. This coin is simple, but effective. The color of the waters and the shark pop.

5. Solomon Islands - 2 Dollars (2020) Hammerhead Shark silver ounce. How much cooler can you get than a silver coin in the shape of a hammerhead shark? No notes.

83.5% silver. I didn’t really need a Latvian silver coin, but for the relatively low price and great condition, I felt it was a must-buy. 10,000,000 minted.

Seisser, despite being briefly sent to Dachau for defying him in the Beer Hall Putsch, survived Hitler’s regime, and went on to help American occupation forces reform the Bavarian Police in 1945. He lived within 7 months of the 50th anniversary of the failed coup, and died in 1973 at the age of 98.

Irving Fields was a well known songwriter of the mid 20th century, having written ‘Miami Beach Rhumba’, ‘Managua, Nicaragua’, ‘Chantez, Chantez’ (a hit by Dinah Shore), etc. His most famous album is 1959’s ‘Bagels and Bongos’.

At the age of 92 in 2008, Fields was asked by a friend to write a theme song for YouTube, which he did within 15 minutes.

I didn’t have this particular type of coin in my collection, though it always caught my eye. I only had a cupronickel version from 1865. When I saw one with a date for only $20, I had to go for it. The dealer said that if I didn’t buy it now, he’d put the price up at $30 because he had not changed the price in years. Only 5 million exist from this year, the trime’s inaugural release. Assuming that it’s a Philadelphia mint, though there is a lot of wear where the mint mark would be, so I can’t really tell.
