Benzo withdrawal-no appetite

I am going on 8 months with no appetite due to Benzo withdrawal. I was on Valium for almost 11 years. What can I take to help? I tried mirtazpine but it made me constipated. I do remind myself to eat but I need to work a more stressful job to make money that I need and I can’t keep going with no appetite.

Someone please help.

I’m going health problems for over 5 years has paused my life.

About 5-6 years ago I decided to get off a medication known as Valium, getting off the medication fucked with my gut-brain axis and causes constipation and now lack of appetite that won’t ago. Before I got sick I was a body builder with an amazing body! I was also a stripper because I took care of my family and went to full time college. After getting sick I had to stop working and leave my stripping days behind. The past 5 years of dealing with this issue has been hard, been to multiple doctors, multiple test, everything is negative, I even did the SIBO treatment twice even tho I was negative for it. I had a fiance and he broke it off with me because he said that he could tell my job and my illness was taking over my life which it was, I was working a corporate job that made me very stressed out. I quit my corporate job almost 2 years ago and started doing Uber and bartending on the side. Last summer my symptoms improved, I met someone who I thought was the “one” shortly after 3 months my symptoms got bad again and the guy ended up being a total asshole and I left him. I have multiple days during the week for almost a year now where I don’t wanna do anything! I over sleep on purpose, I don’t want to work, I ignore people on my phone, I don’t wanna go outside and I have to force myself to do anything and even “move” myself around. I still workout but it feels more like a chore since I don’t see any results due to my constipation.

I am having a hard time coping with life in general. I will be 32 in August and I am very behind , I barely make 40k a year and always stress about finding a better job which I do qualify but get overwhelmed just thinking about how demanding it’s going to be and making my constipation worse . I hate looking in the mirror now, I used to be so confident and I lost that. All of this is due to getting off a benzodiazepine! But I had to get off anyways because you can built tolerance and start to have more issues.

Idk what to do 😩 I cry so much because of this. I have tried different types of therapies and not much changes.

Questions about Benzo belly :

I had Benzo belly-constipation my whole taper (5 years) and now Lack of appetite (7-8months). For the first 4.5 years the constipation was really persistent ! Had to used laxatives every 3 days for a year 1/2 because I could not go at all. I done multiple test and tried all types of treatments and nothing has worked , my diagnosis is just IBS-C. I have lost 30lbs , muscle loss and shape of my body. I force myself to eat as well since I don’t have an appetite. If my constipation persist and let’s say this is my new “normal” should I get a colonic inertia surgery? It’s when they take out certain part of your intestines due to slow motility. My motility is basically gone. I done SIBO test and it was negative but I I still did sibo treatment twice in the past 2 years but it doesn’t help much.

did benzos damage my brain-gut axis this bad that I just can’t recover at all? I seen a lot of post not just on here but on Fb about people have Benzo belly years after getting off benzos and it won’t resolve.

Negative thoughts .

I been on Seroquel for 11 years at 380mg (originally 400mg I been tapering slowly). I got off my Valium that was also prescribed for Almost 11 years and I did a safe taper . I realized that all my negative thoughts are coming from my Seroquel! I never noticed it until now since I am off my Valium and I almost wondered why I always felt so “bothered” or annoyed easily or just always upset or frustrated as if my mind can’t even go into anything positive no matter how much therapy I did . My creativity and emotions are gone , the whole time I thought it was the Valium but it’s also the Seroquel .

I know that at this dose it blocks my dopamine that I need ! I don’t have bipolar or any mental illness. I was put on it for sleep and anxiety.

Can Seroquel cause lack of appetite and constipation? Maybe gastro paresis?

I been on Seroquel for 11 years , my dose went up to 400mg a night in 2018. In 2021, I started to taper off my Valium (benzodiazepine) and developed symptoms of constipation and Nausea, later in just constipation for 4.5 years. Last summer it got better but it’s still very on and off, I got off the Valium and it’s been 7 months and no appetite .

I tapered the Seroquel from 400 to 380mg -just started my taper some months ago but slowly because I tapered off the Valium.

Can Seroquel cause any of this issues: gastro paresis? Constipation? Lack of appetite?

I just want to determine if this is all benzo withdrawal or side effects from the Seroquel.

Can hypnosis combined with medication can make you over sleep?

I started doing hypnosis therapy and reiki at the end of march of 2026 for IBS , lack of appetite and insomnia. I been on sleep medication for 11 years after not sleeping for 15 days caused by anxiety and panic disorder so the doctors put me on trazadone, Seroquel and Valium. I have tapered off the Valium and now only take trazadone and Seroquel but for the 4 weeks I cannot stop over sleeping! I sleep 8 hours then during the day I take a nap because I am so sleepy, I started hypnosis for insomnia not because I couldn’t sleep but because I wasn’t sleeping until 6-7am . Eveyday now I feel very sleepy, I haven’t had an appetite for 7 months caused by getting off the Valium 😭 it takes a long time to recover from Benzo withdrawal. Could it be that hypnosis is making me over sleepy?

Anyone on here had to get on medication or back to their Benzo because their Benzo belly won’t go away? Even off the benzodiazepine.

I don’t wanna get back on my Benzo but the GI problems are persistent and I had GI test done for the past 5 years and all are negative. I struggle with lack of appetite and on and off constipation, just a bunch of IBS symptoms that no GI medication or supplement has been able to help . Do most people get back on their Benzo just to have a functional GI system or do they hop on antidepressants?

Oversleeping and tapering

I been on Seroquel for 11 years for sleep and nocturnal anxiety attacks, I was also prescribed a benzodiazepine (Valium) 11 years ago as well in a hospital setting. I have tapered off the Valium ,and I tapered my seroquel from 400mg to 380mg (I know it isn’t much but I was tapering the Valium so I couldn’t tapered off the Seroquel at the same time) I sleep 8 hours a day even 9 at times and I wake up sedated ! this is the first time since I taken Seroquel that I feel this sedated! I can’t take caffeine or any energy drinks because my blood pressure spikes up like crazy. I am gonna continue tapering the Seroquel , at what dose did it let you sleep but it wasn’t too sedating?

I been feeling sick from Benzo withdrawal mostly now that I lost my appetite for 7 months. I suffered from constipation from my taper for 4.5 years and it’s been getting better (thank god) I will be turning 32 this summer and I been suffering from gut issues from Benzo withdrawal since I was 26…i have low quality of life and my body has gone to shit and it makes me feel insecure.

I have done a lot of research and it says that an ssri like lexapro at a low dose or gabapentin at a low dose can help with gut-Brain axis. I know many people on here are against medication but I can’t keep going down this route :/ please I need help .

I got off a benzodiazepine and I am going on 7 moths with no appetite. Can an ssri help bring back my appetite? I can’t take mirtazpine because I already take other sleep medication.
