Estou vendo nobreaks para comprar, achei um (fabricado em 2022) NHS Premium GII Senoidal 2000va com FP de 0.9. Por 2k no máximo. (Qualquer nobreak com FP de 0.9 e 2000va novo está na casa dos 3,6k ou 4k
Quero saber o que verificar para saber se está em um bom estado. E como testar a saúde das baterias de chumbo
Pelo que eu vi em outros subs, não vão parar de vazar até a R* concordar em lançar mídia física fo jogo
My first time building a homelab, using:
- Machine: HP Proliant ML310e G8 (2013)
- OS: Gentoo (OpenRC)
- Initramfs generator: Ugrd (Loading the ZFS module)
- Bootloader: Limine
- Partition layout: GPT + BIOS (Machine doesnt have UEFI)
- Boot partition: In a SD card
- zpool config: 4 3TB SAS disks in RAIDZ1 using device names (/dev/sdx)
- Disks: disks uses 512byte sectors, used ashift=9 (following the Handbook)
So, i installed the system following the Gentoo Handbook, they have a specific entry related to ZFS. Only thing done different is by being a RAIDZ1 pool
And when booting, the system isnt importing the pools (zfs import and mount services are enable and in the sysinit level)
At the moment from what i searched and tracked from the files
Some possibilities to fix (gonna try tomorrow)
Generate zfs.cache in /etc/zfs. It doesnt exist, and from what i understood from the zfs-import service in the init.d. Its needed?
Delay the service startup by 30 seconds using sleep. Saw some people doing that for HDDs that take some time to spin
Change the zpool disks, from device names (/dev/sdx) to device IDs (ata-xxxxxxxxx...) (Arch Wiki has a warning)
I dont know if they will work, since im gonna try tomorrow after i arrive from work
Forgot to say that to mount the disks in the live CD, i can only import the pools by generating a hostid with the same one from when it was created for the first time.
so, first zgenhostid -f xxxxxxxx then zpool import -N -R mount pool. then mount with zfs mount

Usar um Gentoo, e para oq somente tem no celular usar Waydroid ou qualquer outro emulador.

Fazer algo similar ao que foi feito no T480 (Tenho um, mas é um notebook de 14 polegadas, não de 12 que é melhor para carregar diariamente)
Mas estou tentando encontrar outros equipamentos, tipo câmera digital tbm. Mas não venha dizer "Cybershot dos anos 2000-2010", por dois motivos, usam um cartão proprietário da Sony que nem sei se é fabricado mais (Memory Stick), e começaram a hipervalorizar por "coleção" ou "nostalgia". Meu motivo de querer não é por nostalgia.
E tbm quero ver outras idéias de aparelhos para substituir funções dos celulares, nem é pra mim. Mas para ter idéias de aparelhos para outros usuários que tentem ir nessa onda por qualquer motivo. Pra fazer um detox ou por querer fugir de Big Tech (no que é possível)
Estou procurando que nem um louco a gaiola de HDDs e o backplane que suporta Hotswap. No aliexpress já consegui encontrar barato os caddys hot swap de HDD, mas necessito dessa gaiola.
Aqui no Brasil, encontrei ZERO anúncios. ZERO.

No momento tenho um Nobreak de 600VA NHS Mini III de 500 anos atrás. Mas preciso dar um upgrade.
No momento tenho um PC com uma fonte de 1200w (Que no momento não uso nem 50% direito, mas com o tempo vou chegar), um servidor com uma fonte de 460w (HP Proliant ML310e G8), um dock de Thinkpad de 135w. O resto tipo TV, Impressora, são muito insignificantes
O meu nobreak aguenta o servidor e PC se caso nem um nem outro comece a usar muita energia, ou seja, usando no idle ou para a coisa mais básica. Se eu começar a compilar em um pois uso Gentoo, já começa a apitar.
Então quero uma recomendação, entendo um pouco. Mas não sou o melhor com nobreaks
Então não sei se 1200va seria suficiente ou se teria que ser mais. Eu sei que nobreak é um rim de caro
Aliás, se eu pegar um nobreak usado e consertar, seria uma boa?

Eu paguei no meu HP Proliant ML310e G8 de 2013 por 500 reais com 4 HDDs
Configuring a system with RAID5 with 4 disks (via Hardware controller, LSI M1015, making one single giant Virtual Disk), gonna use Gentoo (stable branch).
Do i set up RAID via ZFS (so i would clean the config done by the card and set it up each disk for a group), use ZFS without RAID or do i use LVM with XFS and let the RAID5 be done by the card?
My first time setting up a homelab for the first time, mostly gonna use as a cloud for me and my family and experiment other services. And i will need snapshots.
Forgot to say i will encrypt the disks with LUKS
Got 4 3TB SAS IBM HDDs from a seller in my city via FB Marketplace for US$215 (Im not from the US, this is a direct conversion. It was R$1100 in BRL, and actually was one of the cheapest options)
The guy at time didnt have a proper place to test it in his home (i even brought my machine there), but he said that i could contact him if there was any problem. And since my machine is "old" (HP Proliant ML310e, and at the moment, 16GB PC3-12800E, or DDR3 1600MHz ECC), he also was super cool at giving me and seeking if he any extra parts to upgrade it without any extra cost, in the end only gave me some RAID Controllers like a LSI M1015 (with Feature key, so RAID5 support for SAS drives, yay, which i didnt had because the controller on the motherboard only supports SATA).
Even said to look what CPU socket was to see if he had a better CPU (Xeon E3-1230 v2 | LGA 1155). And also said it that was selling because the company closed and the hardware stayed with him. Said that was from a web server and used for almost 2 years. Which at that part, im thinking im the third owner since for the 4 drives being around 40k hours, or ~5-6 years
Só i decided to trust him
And i want tips on what to use to restore some parts (without the need to get other OEM parts)
I font know if is working because i dont a charger, neither the seller
And im from Brazil, so stuff is more expensive, and i dont want to import parts (Outside of Shoppe, Aliexpress and stores in the importing tax gov program, like EBay) since it will be fully taxed idependently the value

First time user of Gentoo and set it up root to use 40GB/50GB (In my both machines). (Laptop with 256GB SSD and PC with 512GB SSD, installed with LVM)
I first thought that would be enough and that emerge deleted the source in the end. But i learned about distfiles advantages. But they eat a lot of space.
I just noticed that because a pkg did complain for me not having 20GB or free space (My laptop has 15GB of free space, even after running eclean-dist --deep)
So, since im building a home lab at the moment too, with at least 12TB of storage. Is possible to make a remote /var/cache/distfiles. So both my PC and laptop can "dispose" them there instead of the / partition of the machine?
The easy thing to do is just remove /var/cache/distfiles. I dont have any bandwith cap nor anything, so needing to redownload in updates wouldnt be a problem

The only things left: More RAM (this MOBO supports 256GB and has 8 slots, expect with time to have 128GB at least) and a GPU specific to local AI training/usage.
A little above US$600 in direct conversions, in my currency, aproximately was R$3200
So, i build a new PC. And started moving stuff from my laptop. I use 2FA with KeepassXC. And i didnt lost my Keepass file or password for it. But when i copy the 2FA code, it doesnt work anymore (Not specific to Mailbox, the other 2FAs are not working too, but at least i have recovery codes saved)
Every time i did this process because of needing to format the system or because i was changing machines. Never occured me this problem
So i think this can be conisdered a "lost device"?
I still have access to my emails using IMAP email clients because i made program specific passwords for each (Thunderbird and other desktops email clients). But im not being able to access my Mailbox account via the website anymore
Also, i made a clean up install in the laptop because i screw it up the system. So no more access via the laptop
WTF i can do to gain access again??? (standard 3 euro plan, still some months left to expire)
