Not happy with wedding dress alterations
I took my strapless wedding dress to a highly recommended seamstress to have straps made and added, the back seam taken in and length taken up.
I am not happy with the work at all. It’s not neat and the straps look awful and are nothing like what I asked for. They’re also stitched from the front of the dress which looks terrible, there’s stitching all over the straps and you can see where two bits of fabric have been joined together.
The hem also isn’t neat or straight and the layers are different both sides where the satin attaches to the chiffon. I have also noticed pulls all over the satin which weren’t there before, so it’s basically ruined.
She is only offering me a £30 refund (of £130 that I paid) for the straps as these are not what I asked for. She claims it’s because there wasn’t enough material off the end to make the straps I asked for (which she didn’t communicate with me).
The seamstress is saying the work is professional and done with care, and point blank refusing to refund more. Can I get some second opinions of the quality of work please and what you think I should do? I’m so upset!
The dress cost £180 and seamstress £130 so I’m £310 out of pocket and just want to get a new dress now.
