my car had died. triple a replaced the starter and the fuel pump. this morning, it weakly cranked(?) for a few seconds before actually starting. is this normal?

i’ve been slowly working on a VN but i’m constantly feeling unsure about my art style. i always worry it doesn’t look polished enough, or it looks much too amateur for anyone to want to play. so i guess i wanted opinions that weren’t my own.
if you saw a VN with my art style, would you enjoy the art? would you feel compelled to play it?
ETA: maybe unique wasn’t the right word to use. i know the anime art style is very common, but i worry that even compared to that, mine looks bland or.. i dunno. just not good or like it doesn’t belong in a VN 😅😅
i’ve been working on a visual novel.
today, i came across a video that explains the ch*tgpt (censored bc im worried it’ll get insta removed LOL) format. “it’s not x, not y. just z” or something like that.
now i’m going thru my entire script to double check i don’t have any sort of sentences that could be mistaken for it.
if you came across this sentence:
“you notice that he had cleaned up, too. not a full overhaul, but the clutter was neater, and surfaces had been wiped down.”
would you associate this with ch*tgpt? 😨😨
i’m constantly getting ambushed with tiktok videos about how it’s over. the world is ending. climate change is going to kill us prematurely. the drinking water is about to be gone. the billionaires are building bunkers, the billionaires are saying the world is going to end. they’re going to set off the nukes.
i’m afraid. i don’t want to die. i don’t want to live to experience the end of the world.
my husband says it’s all fear mongering, but idk if he’s just saying that to comfort me.
i know there’s bad things happening. but realistically, is it as bad as these videos are saying? or is it really fear mongering ? i can’t seem to get off of the doomscrolling side of the internet and it’s made me unsure of what to believe.
I’ve never watched Case Study of Vanitas in my life. But then I came across this character who looks exactly like my OC, and with the same name. (My OC’s name is Mikhailo).
Now I don’t know what to do. I was in the process of making a visual novel, but now I’m afraid to publish it out of fear of my character seeming like a direct rip off of the Case Study character ?
I just want advice. What does one do in this situation.
I had based my character off of 9S from Nier, and Chadley from FF7R, and he was named Mikhailo after Mickey Milkovich FROM SHAMELESS 😭😭😭 HOW DOES THIS BIG OF A COINCIDENCE EVEN HAPPEN 😭😭😭😭 Help
i was originally planning on releasing the whole game at once, but my husband suggested it could be beneficial to release it in chapters.
i’m wondering, anyone who has experience releasing a game like this, what did you do, and would you do it differently? or, as a player, what would you prefer?
i want to make a little character plushie of my oc. but everywhere i look only lets you do bulk orders or is insanely expensive just to make one.
is there any manufacturer where its possible to just make one for myself without it being $200? ;00
i’m working on a visual novel and i finally got done my first set of sprites. but im worried they look … bad or amateurish. but i also dont know if im biased because ive been staring at them for days straight
deadass i keep deleting this app for this reason and every few months i redownload it and it’s not fixed
i’m wanting to put him in front of the dialogue box, like the example in the second photo. is this possible with renpy? if i mess with it too much, i begin getting an error that doesn’t allow the game to launch at all.
i got a salad from chick yesterday not remembering that stomach bug that’s infecting salads / mixed greens. …. someone reassure me 😭😭😭
i’m desperate to get my oc’s story out there, but i’m really struggling to decide whether i should settle on making comics, or making a vn.
i’m hoping anyone with experience making either could give me their insight so i can finally come to a decision.
on one hand, with comics, i don’t have to learn how to code. there’s less writing involved, and i don’t have to worry about implementing music, sound effects, or any of the technical side of things. but i find myself getting really fatigued drawing the same characters and environments over and over.
with a vn, i can reuse assets like sprites and backgrounds, which feels a lot less repetitive. but i have no coding experience, and the technical side is definitely intimidating.
so i guess i have two questions:
if you’ve made a visual novel, what was your experience like? was learning everything manageable?
and as a viewer, what would you be more interested in? would you rather read a comic, or play a visual novel?
i’ve had the issues of the brushes randomly duplicating themselves for months. ever since the previous major update.
now, ever since this most recent update, it’s borderline unusable for me. my layers randomly refuse to move when i try to rearrange them. the only fix i’ve been able to find is completely restarting my entire ipad. i’ve been having issues with lagging and crashing.
it seems every major update introduces bugs that just get worse and worse, and then they’re never fixed.
i’m debating on getting it, but im a little bit mixed on the notes and how they’d all smell together (top: mint, bergamot, tangerine. middle: moss, tea, cedar. base: coriander, musk, sandalwood.)
i feel like this could smell really earthy, like walking through a forest after it rains. but i could also imagine it smelling really bitter.
does anyone here have it? what are your opinions on it?
i doubt it’s specifically a procreate issue, but i didn’t really know where else to ask for advice. when im drawing one consecutive line, my strokes skip over like this, breaking it into two different lines. and even if i try to go over the lines with a new stroke, sometimes it will continue to skip in the exact same spot.
i’ve already changed the apple pencil tip, i have the palm recognition thing on, everything is up to date on my ipad. what could be causing this?
I've been thinking a lot about how OC artists get readers/viewers invested in their characters.
A common piece of advice is "make people care about your OCs," but I'm curious what that actually looks like in practice. Do you find illustrations are enough to convey personality and relationships, or do you prefer comics, manga, etc.?
I've considered making comics, but they're obviously a much larger time commitment than standalone illustrations. On the other hand, illustrations can be more limited when it comes to showing dialogue, character dynamics, and relationship development.
For those who primarily create original characters, how do you approach this? What kinds of posts have been most effective at helping people connect with your characters? How do you showcase their personalities and relationships without overwhelming viewers with lore?
I'd love to hear how other OC creators handle this.
for years i’ve only ever been a fan artist. but lately ive been switching to oc’s. i’ve created new social media accounts for my oc art, and i want to work towards making… manga, or a vn, or something about them.
i have no idea how to start building a following. or how to get people to care about oc’s.
and i’ve also tried promoting my oc account on my fanart accounts but… unsurprisingly, nobody has followed or interacted or anything with the new account.
where do i even start? im utilizing twt, tiktok and insta and i know they’re all so wildly different that im overwhelmed. with fanart it’s easy. oc not so much.
i know this is such a vague question but im genuinely so daunted. plz help.
